I thought I would try some of the flavored seltzers that are out on the market. They typically don't have artificial sweeteners, so I thought they would be ok. They don't taste sweet, but they offered a little flavor. Now I find that some of these "Natural Flavors" may actually contain things like maltodextrin, which is basically another sweetener. I'm still not sure why the carbonation may cause weight gain, I am going to have to do more research on this.

@RalphKnowsCarnivore If it contains "Natural flavors/flavorings " nothing but toxic bull crap 😤 Carbonated drinks leave your guard down then possibly drink 1 "sugar free " drink then you'll plunge back into carbohydrate hell. Best is like a few of us carnivores did is shut out all processed foods, booze and vegetables. Sticking fast to meat eggs and some dairy. I am going to take a break from coffee for 30 days and see if it makes a difference in my health. I'm 5 months in, strict carnivore except coffee. Lost 35 lbs in my sedentary lifestyle until I heal up from surgery but overall I see my health improvement 100 fold but need to lose about 85 pounds to reach optimum weight. Hi Ralph FIRST OF ALL CONGRATZ to your wieght loss AGAIN. Well on the stress element. As i am doing 2 jobs and one job as self employed wine retailer this last one was doing very bad during last month and effected me ofcourse. Bad sleep and short sleep and stress in my head. I also have IBS so my guts are the first thing to notice this. So, what i am gonna say will maybe shock people but one week ago i had cramps in my gut and i drank some whisky, i know not allowed, but it helped me out. Pain was gone, cramps gone. BUT i didn't lose that much weight that week, was it from the whisky or just normal, who knows. One month in and lost 13,6 lbs now so i am happy. I am really thinking about starting a separate channel on my channel but don't know if this would be a great idea
@RalphKnowsCarnivore15 күн бұрын
Hi Eddy. Congrats on losing 13.6 pounds. That's awesome. It sounds like you keep pretty busy with work. I can totally see how you could get stressed. I'm impressed by your being a wine retailer. I admire people who can understand wine. Personally, I don't have a clue. I'm not quite sure how or why the whisky worked with gut issues, but I'm thinking there must be a better way to deal with that. As to starting a 2nd KZbin channel, well....obviously, I have done just that. But, you have to ask yourself, will you have time to do your regular jobs, a KZbin channel, and still have time to devote to a second KZbin channel. Only you can answer that question. If you take KZbin seriously, you treat it like a business and not a hobby, and a business takes more time. I try to treat it like a business, but a lot of people just want to share what they are doing with others, and that is fine too. The more you treat it like a business, the more stress is involved. I was extremely lucky with my first channel and it was monetized after only 2 months. But my 2nd channel is a different style from my first channel and I have to take the time to figure it out. In my cooking channel, the food or the cooking technique is the product, but in my carnivore channel, it seems like I am the product. If I am not successful on carnivore, how can I expect my channel to be successful. Talk about putting some stress on yourself. Let me know if you decide to start your second one.

Hi Ralph, good going Were you are on you on Statins as on this diet i hope eventually to give them up (doctor wont probably agree of course)
@RalphKnowsCarnivore15 күн бұрын
Hi Robert. I have never been on statins. Cholesterol has never been a problem for me. It must be genetic, because you would think that a person like myself, being overweight and not watching my diet most of my life, would have terrible cholesterol. In fact, my cholesterol levels are extremely low. My wife on the other hand, is thin and watches her diet, but has elevated cholesterol levels. From things I've read, I am not entirely sure that doctors really fully understand the relationship between diet and cholesterol. I wouldn't drop the statins until you know how a change in diet effects things.

Bye Gunner 👋🏾 I never thought to season half way thru. I’ve done it first and just get salt everywhere. Also, is it crisp using that silicone ? That would save some cleaning time for me.
@RalphKnowsCarnivore15 күн бұрын
Normally I usually like to season well in advance of cooking, but with frozen steaks, there just isn't a way to do that. However, I discovered, with frozen steaks, seasoning at the halfway point, actually works. As to using the silicone, I wasn't sure how well using a silicone liner in a hot air fryer would work. It seems like it would be counterintuitive to how hot air fryers work. However, the liner that I use has raised, "grill like" ridges that seem to let the air circulate underneath the surface of the meat. The crust that is forming on the surface of the meat seems pretty legit. And I have to say, it sure is a lot easier to clean.

The vitamins are coming from the meat, from the animal products. Plants contain only plant-vitamins, and they are not very bio-available to us. For instance there is no vitamin A in carrots, only beta-carotene - in a study on British women 50% of them were able to convert 3% of B-C into vitamin A, but the other half converted nothing. Kale contain vitamin K1, but the human version is vitamin K2 which is found in meat. Vitamin B,B12,D - all found in animal products. There is even vitamin c in (some)meat. Vitamin C shares receptors with glucose, meaning that you absorb very little vitamin C when you eat an apple. A carnivore diet is vitamin sparing, you don't need very much vitamin C.

I bought a cheap Chinese smart scale with the same functions... and it has the same issues. It's really all the same thing with different brands. Are the measurements accurate? Probably not, but at least I am seeing consistency between measurements from one day to the next
@RalphKnowsCarnivore9 күн бұрын
I found a super cheap and super thin plastic cutting board from Walmart. I put it between my knees and I am getting the extra functions to come up more often. I don't think the measurement's are going to be super accurate, but I think I can learn a lot from the trend lines.

Hi Ralph, I actually decided to order this scale, based on this review LOL. I believe my body morphology will not cause the problems with this scale, that you discovered. I am curious to know if the massive additional metrics the scale claims to provide are accurate. That seems like a tall order for such a device! As for calibrating your scales. Get measured in your Doctor's office and compare that weight to your scale. That's a reasonable yardstick to know if personal scales are off.
@RalphKnowsCarnivore9 күн бұрын
Hi James. Maybe I should have listed an affiliate link. lol Based on information I've seen, the accuracy of the measurements for ALL smart scales, may not be all that great. However, I think you can still learn a lot from the trend lines. It should be useful to know if your losing muscle mass or gaining it. The same with fat %. The actual percent is not as important as knowing that it's going the right direction. I have found a thin, plastic cutting board at Walmart that I put between my knees and I now get readings for the extra functions more often.

I have noticed quite noticable differences in weight depending on spot on the floor i use it at. Also the water levels in the body fluctuate randomly withing the certain range. From what I've seen, the actual accuracy for smart scales may not be the greatest. The same can be said for most of the other techniques that supposedly measure all those different functions. However, I think there is still value in knowing the trend lines. Knowing that your fat % is trending down, or your muscle mass is trending up, is more important that knowing the actual %.

My weight loss was hampered, i believe due to my chronic histamine dumping, which caused a myriad of physical psychological issues for me and all kinds of meds tests etc. I started the carnivore foods that contained processed ingredients and spices, you know the alluloses, baking powder/soda spices etc. Then one day, realizing that our veggies, fruit has also been man made manipulation/processed. A small example is grapes for their increased sugars, tomatoes another where the pasta oficinados specifically buy a certain tomotos from italy and make their own pasta instead of ultra processed pasta. We humans have manipulated our food as we have the dogs, from large wolves to chiwawa's. Once i went pure carnivore with no dehydrated veggies ie garlic onions, no spices weight dropped fast, My pre diabetic values are now norm, blood psi is very close to norm, my urination frequency is down, and my urine volume is up. Once my visceral fat is down and 90 days is up, i will trial herbs one at a time, with my urination system as the decider. Read some good things about pecorino sardinia romano cheese, hoping that it will not cause histamine dumping.
