I briefly lived in Minnesota (I'm Australian) 18 years ago and I met a brilliant young man by the name of Michael at a gig I was bouncing at. He had an immaculate grasp on life. This may sound like blasphemy to someone like you Cody, but I believe your grasp on life is no less profound. Perhaps you inherited it from him. I don't know. I'm ignorant on such matters. But I feel it when you perform.

Oh and one last thing. Folk wanna act like writers such as us don't exist. They only wanna acknowledge us when they're at their worst. But make no mistake, we are the backbone of every industry that incorporates writing. They choose only to commend us when their sorrows permit them. When they choose to indulge in their misery. They choose to call our characters "refreshingly human" but when it comes to OUR actual sorrows, they'll act like it's a burden to even listen. We can only write such songs, such characters, such painful stories and melodies, because we live in that realm. Every fucking day. That is simply something that they cannot appreciate.
