I do enjoy hearing your thoughts on documentaries. Did you see the Quiet on Set Docuseries? I haven't seen it fully yet but I've seen sections of it, there's a particular section that deals with a rather famous or well-known musician/actor Drake Bell. He came forward about the SA he endured at 15 years old when he started the show Drake and Josh. I wonder if that's a topic you'd think about covering. Either about Drake Bell or just the Quiet on Set series which focuses primarily on nickelodeon. Which may tie a bit into Jenette McCurdy. I would be interested in hearing your thoughts on them.

I don't know, but I suspect it would come down to the question of whether a reasonable viewer could have assumed the show to be factually true in its entirety (based on how it was marketed and portrayed by Netflix). And if so, I would think, hypothetically and without knowing the law of her chosen court forum, she could make a claim of defamation regarding the untrue portrayals of her in the show regardless of whether the stalking happened or not. But her credibility as a witness should definitely be put into serious question. In principle though - I'd think it unjust if media powerhouses like Netflix could distribute something, claim it to be based on a true story, leave in enough information for real life people to be identified, and then not be held responsible for factually incorrect defamatory portrayals of said individuals. They could have marketed it as 'inspired by' a true story and make it more clear that it's fiction, if it was. But maybe they CAN prove it all, who knows.

Good point about the play! But I guess perhaps the play was not 'big' enough for it to draw attention to the actual real life Martha? And/or there was no big player like Netflix to be sued? most men historically were incels. This is proven by the fact that only 40% of men (compared to 80% women) have passed on their DNA. most men are genetic dead ends and women's sexual empowerment has just returned us back to that historical fact (not saying it is a bad thing). after a period were average and below average men could get married and have a sexual partner because women were reliant on men. women have the power to choose which men have sex and which men don't and unfortunately a lot of men aren't selected.

A lot of incels exist as a form of backlash to how women behave today. Social media, onlyfans, modern feminism etc have put so many women on a pedestal that when young men try and fail and finding love, because of the extremely entitled behaviour from many women, it causes them to become spiteful, bitter and resentful. A lot of men actually feel like this, but the incels are just the ones that take it to the extreme. Incels are pretty much the male version of modern feminists lol.

I've spoken to 2 or 3 incels throughout the years. All of them men I shared a common hobby with who turned out to be incels once I started talking to them privately online. I usually cut them out fast as I do not have the energy or time to hear their lamentations and horrible takes about women and society BUT I always give it a shot at trying to convince them to change their ways. It never worked. Sadly the only thing that worked is when they found a girlfriend. I know of one who did (as we're still in the same group chat we just don't talk private anymore) and he is married now with a kid, and he did a complete 180 and now calls himself a girl dad and worries about abortion being banned (he's american) whereas 10 years ago he was calling all women whores and how he'd never find love because feminism ruined society. Sometimes he'll refer to his younger years and how " angry " he was and he blames porn and young women being mean to him. He still won't admit his faults but at least he realized how toxic he was and well finding a wife changed him I guess.

Oh wow! I'm glad it worked out for that guy, but it's sad that he still blames it on 'young women being mean to him'. It would be great if reformed former incels could spread the good word that not all is lost. I've tried arguing with some of the commenters on my videos, but it all seems to boil down to the fact that they see women as inherently different creatures compared to men, who somehow are better off themselves by not having equal rights. And if someone is convinced that women don't even know what's good from themselves, then they could not possible take any contrary argument from a woman seriously.
@mimoleclair9824
@mimoleclair9824 5 күн бұрын
@@RandomEuropeanYT Exactly. Also a common belief of incels is that all those " liberated " and " independent " women are secretly depressed and miserable as their biological self actually yearns for traditional roles like being a housewife and raising children. They usually hate child free women over 30 years old the most, especially if they are of the same ethnicity as them. A woman who doesn't fulfill her destiny of becoming a mother is seen as the ultimate traitor and at the same time they'll treat women who are already mothers (especially single mothers) as " used " and " expired " so impossible to date. That's when you understand they just hate (but also fear and sadly desire) women in general and that women can never win no matter what they do. I recently read an article about a former canadian far right darling who was abandoned by her husband despite doing everything to be the perfect trad wife (sadly I can't remember her name). The rise of the trad wife movement on social media is also a huge problem. I think its impact on young men is probably worse than porn. It's selling this image of the perfect pretty wife who's just there to fulfill every male fantasy while asking of nothing in return. It's baaaaad.

New channel name ?!!
@RandomEuropeanYT
@RandomEuropeanYT 5 күн бұрын
Yes! It seemed that the word 'female' was perceived negatively or misleading by some under my latest videos that pertained to incels etc, but the comments raising the point about using the term 'female' also lead me to reconsider whether my channel name adequately reflects the channel's contents. The name for this channel was a translation from the name of my Estonian channel, and the Estonian channel's name was meant to reflect that I am only a simple random citizen commenting on things (i.e. not a politician or someone in an important office etc). It was a phrase "tavakodanikust naisterahvas" (directly translated into 'an ordinary woman / female citizen', but for some reason I translated it to 'random female' back then) used by one politician against our then president when she wore a sweater with a slogan supporting free speech at the Parliament. So the Estonian channel was named after the idea that I can speak my mind on any topic, because I'm just an ordinary citizen. So now, instead of 'random female', I considered 'an ordinary woman' as a channel name, but then, this channel was never about the female perspective per se. The original phrase was always about being an ordinary citizen watching and commenting on what is happening. Since the anglophone part of KZbin is so largely US-focused, I figured, perhaps bringing 'European' into the channel name was a better idea, because in a lot of my videos, I'm expressing my POV as a random person in Europe (my POV being that of a woman's is a given anyhow, seen that I am a woman and it's obvious from most video thumbnails as well). Sorry for the long reply, but I used this as an opportunity to, once more, think this channel name thing through. If you have any thoughts about the channel name, please share them. How did I shadow-ban your reply? I did look into Janice Fiamengo's rhetoric, as you suggested, and sadly her takes boil down to stereotyping women (e.g. her claiming that women are more effective as homemakers, are not even interested in political issues etc). Furthermore, her take that women had 'a voice' before having the right to vote through influencing their husbands and fathers etc, thus they did not even need the right to vote, is simply nonsensical: for their voice to be heard, it had to be echoed by a man, hence outside of their own homes, they did not really have 'a voice' based on that rhetoric. Fiamengo's claims that women's lack of education was a myth completely disregards the reality of what and when women were able to study (but I guess it fits her narrative of what women are better suited for). All of her rhetoric on the past seems to boil down to 'but historically women were able to do everything via their husbands' - and that was the very core of the problem, which she conveniently ignores.

"Incels don't see women as their own human beings". Oh we do! It just so happens you make the same predictable, near hiveminded choices every time when it comes to mate choice that bizarrely coincides with the blackpill. We observe women in different forms doing the same actions in our day to day, at work, at school, etc. So as men we collectively judge women, as above, so below. Women reject more on race than average, they reject more on general attractiveness, they almost always reject non-NT men(why are 80% of all autistic males virgins?) Why would emotional connection be an important factor in dating when you cannot get your foot in the door because of things you can't control(Non-NT, facial structure, height, etc)? Its like expecting the chicken to exist before the egg. I hope you understand that 44% of young men being single, and/or virgins with the percent growing every year is going to be a big problem for women in the future. Give us some ideas on how you would solve the problem @randomfemaleYT instead of just belittling the sexually disenfranchised. Also getting a escort is not a solution, at least not in America because breaking the law in order to get something doesn't disprove your oppression, you're just circumventing it.

Here we go again, another video perpetuating women victimhood, even though we're practically living under feminist socialist regime, though still pretty far from tyranny of national socialism, but the progress towards similar one is unfortunately visible. Even the same propaganda techniques are used as those 80yrs ago.

Thank heavens the channel name 'female' is an accident. You are smart, and I hope you do understand the power of a word's connotation. It's a part of the meaning...it might negatively affect your growth. Anyways, it's your channel, and I like your takes.

Why apple and oranges? Famous people vs famous people. It's absolutely comparable, and I'm shocked at the difference. Yes, Beckham is polished too, but the amount of footage and actual videos from the era supporting the story is impressive!

The difference is choice. Rachel McAdams chose to have a child. If she loves it, I’m happy for her. Some women choose not to be a Mother. Good for them. Some women hate being a Mum, I am sad for them. Harrison Butker’s speech was not about women choosing to be mothers, or not. It was another man insisting that it is an imperative that women have children. Butker’s thinking is straight out of the Middle Ages. Historically, missionaries convinced citizens of countries with fewer resources, to convert to religions which discouraged birth control. This caused the horrific poverty we still continue to see to this day.

Exactly! And very interesting point in your last paragraph. I've never really thought about how poverty in poorer countries might be tied to religion in the sense that you described.

@@RandomEuropeanYT if you have a spare 20 minutes (like any woman is a spare 20 minutes!), Google missionaries going to other countries (think the countries we consider the poorest in the World). Missionary ‘work’ was abhorrent, enacted and enforced by one of the biggest Religions in the World.

All of the criticisms of Mr Butker's statements aside, and there are many, the sheer gall to stand before young women who have worked for years to achieve academic excellence, women who are on the cusp of realising long held aspirations, and tell them to put every dream aside and have babies was astounding! I have to imagine that was vodka in that bottle you were drinking from as I can't imagine getting through his world view any other way.
@RandomEuropeanYT
@RandomEuropeanYT 21 күн бұрын
Haha, no vodka, but it helped reading that many catholics disagree with his speech, including an order of nuns affiliated with that college. Damn, I should have included that fact in the video. The more times I listened to his speech, the worse it got. Because not only is he telling everybody to have children (which is just not the right choice for everybody), but he is telling them to not use any sort of birth control, asserting with such confidence that this is the only true way of Catholicism - hence a woman could only be a true Catholic if she believed in surrendering her entire mind and body to childrearing. Which is a point the nuns disagree with, seen that the nuns themselves have devoted their lives to God (and not childrearing), and have achieved many great things for many people.

Yeah... you rarely see catholic women who give these kinds of speeches. Which I think says a LOT. I equally don't want to disrespect people's beliefs or personal couple/home dynamics. But if you are advocating for everyone else to adopt these same values in the name of God or some other deity or group of deity, it sits uncomfortably with me because it does perpetuate an old sexist system that we have tried so hard to break out of and that we're still having to fight against. I feel how you live your life religiously and morally is something you need to work out as an individual with you and your god. It shouldn't be dictated to you. In my personal opinion. At least not from a public platform. I'd like to say the UK is secular. Well, we definitely are more than 50 years ago lets say. But a lot of primary schools are still church of england based and we still run carol services and have to do easter services in the nearby church for them and that. At least when I was in school. So I suppose it's secular with a christian protestant influence. But I've always grown up questioning religion. I've never ubderstood that if I'm meant to have some sort of relationship with God. Why is this priest or person telling me how they think I should live my life? Like you say, being a homemaker is nothing to be ashamed of. But it's not shameful to question the system and ask why can't the man be the homemaker? Why can't they share the homemaker role so they can both advance their career? I think in general women should have a secondary skill they can fall back on even if they want to be a stay at home mum or even homemaker. Because either of those roles relies on the husband to provide. And even if that marriage goes perfectly with no divorce or anything like that. The husband could be taken unexpectedly by illness or an accident. And then, the wife has to rely on relatives if they have any or in the case of a lot of them has to struggle to find a job to support your children. It's just good sense to make sure that happens so you can look after your family in the event that your husband cannot provide financially for whatever reason. And I think men need to embrace that. Even if they're men of faith. In fact, especially men of faith need to include that possibility. Because by their own beliefs if God does something like that it's part of some plan, so they need to prepare in case God comes to test them.

I, too, have often questioned organised religion, both in principle (as in, should faith not be something between the individual and their god?) but also in terms of the abuse of power that can and does happen within most large organisations ..and I fully agree that homemakers (whether it's a woman or a man) should have a backup plan, something to fall back on should anything with their current setup go wrong ..in regard to your last paragraph: for some, unfortunately, it seems the answer lies within 'simply' remarrying should something happen to your spouse

Good review, i love that you didn't just "hate watch" this and went in with an open mind. My own two cents is that since Butker is obviously pretty smart, there is no denying that he 100% knew what he said. Meaning that he didn't say anything by accident or that people twisted his words into something else entirely. Everything that sounded bad and concerning here are words that he himself carefully thought out for who knows how many days for his speech and they truly do reflect his own views on things. At some point he clearly forgot the place he is giving this speech and the text ended mostly attacking things he doesn't like/how things should be in his mind instead of encouraging other people to do great things.
@RandomEuropeanYT
@RandomEuropeanYT 21 күн бұрын
thank you! I agree that the speech was so meticulously worded that all of it had to be intentional, there is no denying the general message when you listen to the speech as a whole ..it just sunk in with me later that the reason his wife 'had to give up her dream' (as he said), and no mention of future possibilities of any ambitions outside of the home for his wife, was because they do not believe in birth control or choosing the size of your family

Ok the whole thing with female being offensive... It REALLY depends. Because some people just say it's not proper grammar to just say female when you're an adult because female can be adult or child. In which people should say woman if they're an adult. Then apparantly there are spaces where men or certain people call adult males 'men' and adult females 'female'. And some people find that offensive because it can come off as dehumanising in the sense that men are made to be the default of humanity and women are not seen as equal so much that the word women is not even used. Which I kind of get. Some men, intentional or not do play into sexism. I don't think you're being offensive in the slightest by using the name 'Random Female'. It's accurate. It's identifiable. And it's you using it for yourself. It's not a male trying to use female like a slur which is where I think the offence comes from. Of course this is from a quick google search. Prior to this I don't find female offensive in the slightest. If anything I personally liked it better than having to use terms like woman, or girl, or madam or Ma'am or lady etc. I feel it's the closest word that is closest to saying you're human but with the binary designation of female. (Which some obviously reject and that's fine)

Yeah, the whole covid part was ..odd. One the one hand, he sort of more so emphasised that catholic priests should have kept being accessible to their parishioners (mentioning that no parishioner should have had to die alone), but on the other hand, he criticised the covid lockdowns and measures more generally too. No idea what he meant EXACTLY, but it was very clear that he was critical of the lockdowns, which is contradictory to the whole general sanctity of life approach (unless he categorically believes that covid wasn't real, hence lockdowns weren't really necessary? again, it's not clear from this speech).
