I'll tell you...I just played Bruma through Elysium Remastered...it's amazing. When those teams at Beyond Skyrm are done, we're going to have content for...for...for...forever.

I was once told that the best way to experience Skyrim was to play without mods. At least until you dealt with Alduin. Then start exploring mods in a 2nd play through. I disagree. Instead, I think you will get more enjoyment (as a new player) by playing without mods for just an hour or so. Maybe stopping after completing the Bleak Falls Barrow dungeon. Then research mods to add what you feel the game needs improvement on. Texture mods are the easiest to add since they rarely affect gameplay or interfere with quest progression. Certain mods can make Skyrim appear like a current generation game. Then there are the advanced movement and combat mods. Mods for new encounters, dungeons and quests. There are even mods to restore content that Bethesda had to cut to make their marketing deadline. This is yet another reason why Skyrim endures. The modding community has done more for the game than Bethesda itself has. There is even a modding team currently at work to bring the entirety of Tamriel to the Skyrim worldspace. At the moment, they've only released the County of Bruma in Cyrodill. But eventually you will be able to not only visit all of the Imperial homeland, but every one of the lands portrayed in the Elder Scrolls series. This will multiply the playable area in the game (already huge) by many times over.

skyrim is not the only game of its kind and furthermore it's entirely overrated, it was dumbed down and stripped of features over the previous games, it was more consolized as well with an awful UI. Veterans of the series found it to be very disappointing, only newbies who started with it think it's the best game ever and unmatched just because it has the same freedom and exploration that the previous games had just less RPG content and customization, it's more like an open world action adventure with minimal RPG elements than a full fledged RPG like say Morrowind.
@Mal_Freeman04518 сағат бұрын
Decent open world action game but a shallow Elder Scrolls game. Possibly the most overrated game ever outside of maybe the Halo franchise. 25 year old Morrowind is still more immersive.

Its a pretty mid game. Arguably pretty bad. Three thungs makes a good game. Combat Story Gameplay Skyrim is 2 to 4 over 10 in all this. Pretty overrated game if you ask me. Maybe mods makes it better but i don't see how that would fix the story.

If I could only play one game this would be it. Generally I'm not into shooters/melee games but I am a D&D fan. I can't be bothered learning all the mechanics of most action rpg's. I play Skyrim on normal difficulty and I like the combat just fine. Hundreds of hours but I've yet to face Alduin.

Well, I'm in minority here, but I think compared to Morrowind and FO: New Vegas, it's underwhelming to say the least. Mods can make it good, but vanilla Skyrim? Overrated AF

Funny how we see things differently. I detest relentless, complex combat. The lack of it in Skyrim isn’t a flaw, it’s a characteristic. If you want continuous, “challenging” combat, you know where to go - other games. I’m a Thief: Deadly Shadow, Indiana Jones et al, Civ5 player. Grinding battle is boring. Further, you missed two of the biggest draws of Skyrim. Like Star Trek and Star Wars, the Elder Scrolls universe is vast and tightly woven from its origins through Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, and greatly anticipated Elder Scrolls 6. The books aren’t just tangible things to interact with; they are lore. The history and saga lend to the game’s realism as a place to live and adventure. Secondly, storytelling. Hooking 10 million first sales doesn’t keep people. Those that stay recognize NPCs who are like people they have met in real life whether driven by greed, concern for their people, devotion to a child, calculating ambition, duty, selfishness, etc. Further, the dynamics between NPCs, factions, and environments reflect our own relatable experiences in modern struggles with corrupt leaders, political divisions, mindless hatred, and people getting by in any way they can devise - good characters with backstories and surprising depth. And even most of the side quests are stories within the story. Bethesda employs many good storytellers - one of their greatest strengths. Even the “final boss” is a moral decision for the player - not just mindless combat strategy. The player character must just choose “who I will be” continually in the game - without, as you pointed out, breaking the play through. The replay ability comes from creating new characters, making different choices, exploring more of the vast world, and watching the magic of different results unfold. As you pointed out, the game’s pacing allows people to not just plow their way through incessant action but to live there. Player characters grow, develop skills, build homes, have children, in, with mods, endless ways and possibilities. The game is brilliant and perfect; its flaws are limited to glitches and limited choices due to limited development time. Hearthfire would have had more options if the developers had had more time. The game is especially perfect for introverted folks who can’t tolerate the noise and friction of obnoxious multiplayer environments. You’re right; there will never be another Skyrim, but there will be an Elder Scrolls 6. Just wait.

Fallout New Vegas was outsourced to Obsidian which is why it has much higher quality writing. I think Bethesda writers are 10 year olds writing for other 10 year olds.

L take. The original game is a 7/10 at best. It's a 10 with mods. It's not even close and mods, even the wacky ones, are arguably lore friendly given lore that's already in the game and the giant's dream.

Remember that feeling you got when you played Skyrim for the 1st time? Everyone's omg moment is different, i'm sure- mine was after leaving Helgen, then heading to Riverwood from the standing stones and seeing salmon jumping out of the river, doing what salmon are supposed to do, swimming UPstream, instead of swimming in the water like other games. At that moment i knew i would love Skyrim.😊😊

Mods are definitely doing a very big part of Skyrim staying so amazing, but personally I think it is the setting. This whole Nordic mythology stuff is super, super interesting. The landscape is amazing. From dense forests in the south to ice-capped mountains in the north. Personally, there's no better setting for me.

Prior to Skyrim I played some Dragon Age (one that counts as good) and enjoyed that. But in Skyrim within minutes after leaving Helgen I learned that this game in on another level: A fox crossed the road and I chased it into the bushes, only to be greeted by some orkish bandit guarding a cave entrance... The feleing I had - and have - with Sykrim I don't find easy at other games. What's the other single player game in the top 10 of most sold? Also what are your other two favorites?
@darmok34204 сағат бұрын
It's hardly on another level, the elder scrolls games which came before it are more on another level.

All I play is vanilla And I think the reason there's no game like skyrim is that there hasn't been a game since skyrim That delivers us the same level of freedom. A lot of the fun you have in this game. Either comes from your first new experience of it, or it's going to come later on through role play elements. However, even just looking at it from a game play perspective, it offers so much freedom of how to play in terms of build diversity that it's almost like elden ring except far less stressful, which might be another part of why it's still such a good game and why it keeps bringing people back in the best game i've seen in terms of offering this experience since skyrim was elden ring but as I said not everyone wants to be stressed out for 2 hours on the same boss😂😂

Sorry to say, but shows like the lord of the rings and Game of throwns, has little to do with the success of Skyrim, the first player aspect of discovery is what made it good, i never watched game of thrones, till it was released on DVD s, as for the lord of the rings, i read the books when in elementary school, and the movies, though fine, didn't share the same story as the books, that being said, people just wanted to try something different, and liked what they found in Skyrim

I disagree with the comment in the video about being able to quest anywhere from the beginning. Try taking on the Falmer, or a giant camp, or going to Solstheim. You’ll get your cheeks clapped pretty damn fast. Sabre cats, bears, trolls, the list goes on. Until you’ve leveled your gear and spent some perk points, you’re pretty limited in where you can go… unless you play in Novice difficulty. 😂

skyrim is fun i enjoy the exploring about as much as i enjoyed dark souls exploration, maybe alittle less. skyrim needed more spells an i wish they had added spears an 'whips' like how morrowind had idk if there is ever going to be a game like skyrim but i also don't know if i'd ever want a game like skyrim again horses flying though the sky or walking 120 feet above the ground, rides an horse animation mishap swapping ai an scripts just not starting there second script.. windhelm solitude an the cival war where interesting re-imagining of there location or where it could be oblivion had sewers an whiterun, solitude an windhelm could have also had them as alternate entrances

It's BECAUSE it can be modded so heavily from it's original (flawed) state that it will never lose it's appeal.

It's a map filled with dungeons to clear out, that's why you like it so much. Story, side quests, factions, combat, writing in general, rpg mechanics.... Everything else about the game is mediocre. You can literally kill the emperor and then join the empire 😂😂😂😂 As so many have said before, wide as an ocean but deep as a puddle.

Bro with all the respect. Skyrim isn't that great man. Oblivion and morrowind are honestly cooler and better. The only thing carrying skyrim is good graphics and the modding community. Look, I sometimes reinstall and play, skyrim is an okay to good game, but it's not that great or a one in a million, its not a one hit wonder. Its not bad, but way too overhyped and overrated. It's really not a masterpiece. I play it quite a bit sure, its a fun viking north winter game. But i played witcher 3, vampire the masquerade bloodlines and fallout new Vegas much much much more because those are masterpieces. Another good elderscrolls game is eso, its very good. Other than that I personally dont think Bethesda would make a great game, because they haven't in a while and their best title Fallout New Vegas isn't even made by them.

Calling anything Bethesda made "well crafted"... bro... They have trouble keeping things consistent across single locations/quests. Back in Skyrim days they did still have a few great level designers, but the whole studio has been rotting inside out. Anyone remotely competent has long fled.
