Thanks David, these tips are greatly appreciated. After struggling for what seems ages trying to learn a new technique, a point comes where it just "clicks" and comes together, usually when you are not consciously thinking about it. It all comes down to getting these little but extremely important subtleties, which you have clearly explained, firmly embedded into muscle memory. One day I hope I can execute these techniques as beautifully and effortlessly as you 🙂

You can't even beat the small Japanese guy from your essedon gym, he beat your twice and he is just a ordinary Japanese university student who is just regular level in Japan

People still say judo lacks ground work
@TheJudoWayofLifeАй бұрын
It definitely doesn't lack groundwork...I'd say quire often in competition people lack the opportunity to really express the amount of groundwork available!

@101airborne07Ай бұрын
@@TheJudoWayofLifeI think it’s kind of a shame that the sport of judo doesn’t do the full ground. I’ve heard a lot of people say that making these martial arts into sports is hurting the art. I’ve heard this also about Gracie Jiu Jitsu. BJJ being the sport version that totally ignores the stand up, the judo in the Gracie Jiu Jitsu and the actual self defense while standing.

Is this a judo move or a BJJ move?
@submissionsummitАй бұрын
Done more commonly in judo & sambo. BJJ is a derivative of judo, but it's all grappling regardless.
@TheJudoWayofLifeАй бұрын
Possibly neither...it could have been around from before Judo!
