For the accelerator cannon barrels I used the same approach as I did on the Sicaran and Deredeo dreadnought autocannon barrels - have a search through my how-to and modelling playlist for these demo videos. Obviously, a larger drill bit was required, I used an 8mm metal drill bit and a cordless drill on its slowest setting. Hope this helps 🙂

Indeed... Forge World (like GW in general) has been struggling to maintain stock availability over the past 18 months (they need more factory capacity - currently commissioning factory 4 as we speak). Best advice I can offer is to keep checking as you are and sign up for a restock email notification. One final thought, stock was low last year Jan - June, it was only after that year's summer launch (Leviathan) that things improved and regularly became in stock again i.e. GW throws everything at making sure the edition launch is well supported.

This is a good idea, and as the video clearly demonstrates, it works very well. Super-glue debonder can also work, although that costs money (a freezer is free) and any acetone-based type must be avoided as it will decompose resins (Propylene Carbonate type is the one to go for here). Also, debonder can't easily penetrate deep joins, and that's an area where the freeze method shines. Ultimately this isn't a case of do this / don't do that: a wise modeller has all these techniques in their skill set and tool box to use as specific situations demand.

@leakycheese I think of it like this; 20 Mark V bodies (no weapons included) is £130, they don't sell bolters, so you gotta buy two specialist weapons (but in resin) packs for £32. But if you want bolters you better pay up for one whole Mark IV kit (£50) so that makes it £162 or £180 for one 20-man MKV squad. The other aforementioned squads are only £50, and plus £28 if you want to give all 20 special/heavy weapons.

@@kaspersaldell And in that example you are left with a lot of spare parts, so it’s a bit of an odd one. I could also say that 10 Exo Lords models cost £80 delivered compared to 10 Forge World Breacher marines costing £90 delivered. Are the Exo Lords still insanely priced at £80? But anyway, if I were you I’d wait for a MKV plastic Tactical Squad box to be released. That’s what I’m doing for any future heresy armour squads.

@leakycheese Tbh yeah £80 for 10 space marine derivatives is really overpriced because it costs £20 more than buying 20 marines. The customization is nice for us who love building and stuff, but from most peoples' game/army building perspective, you're really losing a lot

Nice one, I also bought the head sets for my Sons of Horus army project… lots of cool designs for sure. They are compatible with the new MKIII as well as MKVI, and can also work on older marine models from Forge World and GW. One of the upgrade heads I used on a Justaerian and it looks great. On the head design it looks pretty close to my eye in base concepts (facial structure, hairstyle, scarring) to the art of the Blackshields audiodramas and pencil study from Horus Heresy Book Six: Retribution. I’m presuming you’ve not bought the new campaign book “The Battle for Beta-Garmon”? The miniature matches the full-page colour study of Haar exactly… I think you need to review that before making judgements like the one you just wrote. Thanks for watching.

Respectfully Margaret, I'd start by pointing out that (and this may surprise you) human hair grows. So who cares if Haar's art has a number 2 buzz cut where the model is a number 4? Reminder: Horus Heresy is a sci-fi fantasy setting which is very open ended and flexible, not a historical wargame of excruciating adherence to sources. You're missing out if you've not bought a copy of Beta-Garmon... it's a very good book, and a much better offering the Siege of Cthonia... both content wise and artistically. It costs around a third of what the Forge World books did so your remark of it being "over-priced" is not only baffling, but also factually wrong.... might need to check your evidence more next time. That's my feedback to you. And yes, unless you own a product and take time to fully understand and appreciate its features any firm assessments will come across as being unsubstantiated, to me at least. Finally, a pragmatic observation: the Horus Heresy black books are gone forever now, they are beautiful products of a different time; don't be trapped in their time as otherwise you'll never enjoy the present heresy again.

I’ll specifically comment on that once I’ve built mine. To be honest, most of the headswaps I do on heresy miniatures require some modification to the head, neck mount or both. I’d of thought if you are buying an “Expert Kit” you’d have the experience to tackle a challenge like a head swap?

I'll evaluate this when I do the model review, see if it's a perspective thing or actually overlong.

Indeed, very well turned out. I wouldn’t worry about mould aging, these days Forge World only do 20 or so casts from each before binning it due to wear, they are continually making new moulds.

I'm kinda not keen in a way as the model was such a pig to put together and there's a lot of criticism that needs to be levelled at it's many, many faults. We will see...
