Airbnb ran a lot of experiment on their property pages between 2019 and onwards. Some of these I managed to capture here: goodui.org/leaks/?company%5B%5D=3436 These were both big and smaller experiments (probably mostly smaller from what I can see).

I have just visited their website and no, they do not send customers to shopping cart after pressing add-to-cart button. They keep customers on a product page. I would also notice that Amazon does not send customers to shopping cart after pressing ATC button. They have a different approach. See Amazon website.
@JakubLinowski3 жыл бұрын
Hey Ivan. I only analyzed the US (.com) site on one or two products which showed the direct addtocart interaction. Afterwards I noticed an alternative floating cart shelf interaction on the Canadian site. So chances are that different countries or products might have some variability. That's inevitable with such a huge company. Interestingly, the floating cart interaction still shares some of the potentially positive properties (progression, clear next CTA, and feedback or confirmation). As far as implementation on the mvideo site you have to be aware that ab test outcomes and implementation decisions are not always 1:1. Or that it's still a very fresh ab test and there might be a lag. Unfortunately Andrey just moved on to a new company and I'm not sure what the implementation decision on that ab test will be. Thanks for being sceptical and trying to verify or peer review these findings. 😃

Jakub, thanks a lot for sharing this one. I'm using the video as training material for my team at Ladder.io I always have this trade-off dilemma with smaller accounts where small experiments generate underpowered experiments and are basically "lying with statistics". However, one thing that I'm bringing to the conversion program is quicker experiments for signal not necessarily validated learning. Also, it helps on the client relationship, since they see "things moving" in the first month. Keep the great work with GoodUI, cheers from Poland! John Ostrowski

Thanks for the comment. I'd be curious to learn more about what you mean by "quicker experiments for signal". Are there some examples you can describe to paint the picture? :)
@PlaybookUX5 жыл бұрын
Awesome how you were able to see the active experiment. The actual thumbnails in version A are so much more engaging than version B. Nice work on this video!
@remmiesmith5 жыл бұрын
So, how did the experiment fail? Didn't Netflix just successfully test version A to be more effective? ;-)
@JakubLinowski5 жыл бұрын
Historically, we know that the A version was used as the control in the past. Hence B was the contesting variant - which of course did not pass the success criteria and was rejected (a degree of failure). :)
@remmiesmith5 жыл бұрын
@@JakubLinowski the contesting variant failed, but the title implies that the experiment/test itself failed. The experiment was a success 😉
Great share, thanks Jakub! It seems that everything that exists on a web page has a purpose and it's not just thrown in there.

Hey Jakub, thanks for sharing this course. Can you bring some clarity on the small cards next each screen - what is the meaning of the data you display ? Thanks
@JakubLinowski5 жыл бұрын
Hi Victor. The cards serve the purpose of expressing how confident we are in each little change. Going left to right, we have: 1. A total count = sums all points from Evidence and our Subjective guess. 2. Evidence points come from counting the frequency of winning-losing a/b tests (historical data from goodui.org/fastforward) 3. Subjective confidence = we express the likelihood of something being a good/bad idea ranging from -3 (definitely bad) to +3 (definitely good), with 0 being neutral. 4. Occasionally we also reference the potential impact of a change (also pulled from historical data using medians from numerous tests) So that's how we're building confidence in what to change. Does this help?

booing.com is history, unfortunately they have became victim of their success. They have the worst customer service you can imagine, I will certainly never user them again after my recent negative experience. Search the net and you will see how in the last one year the company has gone south in customer service, too many people complaining

How about putting the promo code question on the product page itself. That way, it's added at the point of adding the product to a cart and not at the more awkward time of at the point of purchase. I understand that this doesn't totally get around the fact that customers may still feel that there's a potential for a lower cost for the product, but maybe it won't be as awkward as asking for the coupon code at the point purchase. Maybe?
@JakubLinowski6 жыл бұрын
Interesting question re: testing for the timing of the coupon code choice. Thanks for sharing - would make a good experiment.

Well, I think they're aiming to avoid the tech terms that, firstly are understood by tech-minded users at this point, and secondly focus more on the 'how it works' and less the 'why do I need it?'. As @Dave Meir mentioned - there are an increasing number of options for cloud storage and file syncing so they're looking to appeal more directly to the creative industry. There'd surely be good reason for this - perhaps creatives are the most likely to convert from free to paid accounts.

Whilst I'm not a fan of the new Dropbox homepage, I understand the rationale behind it. Dropbox is already so well known, now they have to try to compete with something that sets them apart again. Everyone is doing file sharing and syncing and we all know how it works. Dropbox needs people to identify with the brand and its aspirations. They are clearly targetting creatives in a big way with the headline, new plans, features and showcase offerings. I would like to see Dropbox create a better headline that felt more like they are welcoming me to the place for creatives, rather than giving me actually work. Something that helped people imagine a more creative them with Dropbox.
@JakubLinowski6 жыл бұрын
I see that they want to be different. Having access to previous a/b tests however I had to make a bet in favour of greater specificity over aspirational copy. Would be great to run some experiments on whether one or the other approach is truly better. I think your idea to test copy that moves away from "giving you work" is also a solid one!

Yes, that would be a good test to see.

Hi Jakub, Like your tests. Have been following for a while now as a newsletter sub and now here. What would be great - if you can do more in-depth context of use. In other words, in what situations where a specific UI you found most effective. Thanks in advance.
@JakubLinowski7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion. Can you elaborate on "context of use" and which situations you are thinking of? On goodui.org/fastforward/ you can filter patterns by page type or metric type. Anything else?

I think the people do not always read what is written. and this sentence at the bottom of the button can seem like a sentence in very small which says: it is free BUT... ". Another remark, there is too much text on the button. the button must be a call to action and not explain the value of the service. what do you think?
@ttfrancisco7 жыл бұрын
One more thing. You tried too much to sell the product. By putting so many arguments, people can think that you are forcing them, that you are too insistent. It's a bit like shop sellers, who insist on selling when you just want to watch for yourself.
@medialulz7 жыл бұрын
The reason it didn't win imo is because the way the sentence is structured, isn't actually social proof. Turning it to social proof would be something like: Our Customers Send & Receive 150,000 Faxes Per Day Or even better would be something like: Join More Than 100,000 Others Who Ditched Their Fax Machines For Us

As an end user, I would be expecting to choose my poll questions before configuring the poll. It's no surprise to me if people dropped out when asked to configure the poll first. It makes me wonder if you would have seen similar results had you just re-ordered Step 1 and Step 2 so that they matched customer expectations.
