on the memory issue, i think people forget how ungodly expensive fast and large memory was back when the vita launched. im not making excuses becuase it was dumb of them to use propietary memory and stuff, but it was a good way to ensure fast read and write speeds. i think the vita failed mainly because of lack of killer games and undying support from sony. because even in 2024 its a beast of a handheld, it is portable contrary to a lot of other suposed handhelds its also powerful for what it is, it runs games smoothly and its display even on the 2000 model looks great. the software on it feels modern and responsive and mainly a lot of positives. however for me there isnt a lot of casual games and portable games, the vita would have needed some nintendo style games, original and caual. id kill to have animal crossing on the vita or something like maria or zelda, i think it would be a better platform than the switch for those games.

Regarding Chromecast FPS drop it is a well know issue. You just have switch on 'Diasble the HW Overlay' in the dev options. It reset to off automatically after update so you have to turn on again from time to time.

please don't buy these. the older ones are so much easier to set up and are more flexible in terms of control. i lost the remote to this and i couldn't set the chromecast up for a new tv/location w/o the remote. losing the remote and then factory reseting the chromecast essentially bricks it so you have to buy a new remote or chromecast altogether. and what makes it even more stupid is whne you first set it up out of the box, you don't need the remote, just google home app on your phone but if you factory reset and don't have the remote, you're shit out of luck. the old chromecasts, you can factory reset as much as you'd like and move the chromecast to any tv/house you'd like and it would setup easily, no remote needed. also, now with this model, if another person attempts to cast, their device takes over control and stops playback of whatever the previously connected device was playing. with the older models, if another person on same wifi network attempted to cast, they would just get synced to whatever was currently playing, and can add their choices to queue thereby not interrupting what's currently playing from other devices. this model is a huge step backwards google. ya'll keep trying to fix what's not broken.

Can I install google play with chromecast?

I wasn't going cheap, and I've had to deal with too many just as expensive or cheaper boxes in the past. I've bought it myself and family members and recommended Nvidia ShieldTVs (2015 16GB and Pro versions) to friends, which they all still use today. I even have a ShieldTV I use while traveling with media on an external drive in case I'm somewhere with no or horrible internet connectivity. I like the simple original 2015 remote, but I hate that it's sealed.

My 2019 shield pro went back to the box since I’ve got an Apple TV 4k. The shield is just not powerful enough. The ATV feels so smooth while navigating and using apps. The Infuse video player has no alternative on Android. The highly recommended Kodi is laggy and buggy, so many times had to force close because it froze. My ATV is not even the latest with the best chip, and it destroys everything in terms of performance aside from ATV next gen. It’s just sad that nobody can put a decent chip into an Android TV box.

This is the worst product they ever offered. Keep your old unit. This is what happens when you lay off your tech staff and move it to another questionable country

I was curious about this because when I moved into my house 2 years ago we were dead broke. I had a Galaxy S9 with a smashed display, i thought i clould use it with Dex to watch KZbin Revanced on for the time being, then i used it for Disley plus for my son and then Netflix and Prime video for my wife, BeeTV & Moonlight for myself to stream my pc & then xbox game pass. I now have one in each room connected to a dock with pass through charging, mouse and keyboards & i highly doubt I'll go back to any other setup. It's worth a go if you have a drawer of old phones 😁 -edit: It's that good i also purposefully bought a broken S20 for £45 specifically for a diy tablet featuring 14" 10 point touch laptop display, ugreen dock for 256gb+ storage & usb ports for peripherals, 10,000mah battery bank, encased inside a 3d printed case. I was thinking of making it a youtube video but idk

Short answer is no,. Having recently tried the latest fire stick, I was disappointed how laggy the apps were, and the overall navigation is quite poor and riddled with ads. Going back to freeview and a smart TV

I still recommend The Shield at the moment, although 6 months from now I might recommend buzz TV instead..... That recommendation is currently pending on how trustworthy and reliable long-term that device proves itself to be. Time and testing will tell. Major red flag on buzz TV for me is the fact that Aptoide TV is front and center along with an app installer sideload app. It appears to be geared more towards users who can't wait to see how fast they can affect their network with who knows what from Kodi add-ons and side-loaded rogue apks offering free movies that they find anywhere on the net. For me if it gets 4K Netflix support which buzz TV currently does not have at the moment, however 1080p Netflix works just fine which is all I have anyway because F U Netflix I will not pay more for 4K when your competition with Amazon and disney, hulu, give it for free, same for you HBO max, stop charging extra for better quality. Picture quality due to internet bandwidth availability should not be up charged. Netflix does not charge extra for 4K. Anyway buzz TV is very interesting so to each their own and results might vary. For people wanting the best maybe look at Shield if you demand perfect reliable stable quality, if you are more adventurous and want to experiment however, a much more powerful machine can be found with buzz TV. I don't remember the exact model of the device but it's the obvious big and beefy green and black box design that their site advertisers like crazy and you see all over the Internet these days. That's the one to look at. 8 GB version 300, 16 GB 400 bucks. A little more pricey but a lot more power, could be worth it.

Great review! I bought my Amazon 4k Firestick in 2018 and I am very happy with it other then having only 8GB of storage and only 5 Gb available for apps as the Fire OS takes up 3GB of it. I plan on buying a Firestick 4K Max with 16GB of storage soon.

got the 2019 model since release excellent performance compared other streaming boxes, emulation,VLC for pirating, and a new beta update came out a few weeks ago dixed the problems I was having. Took it apart to replace the thermal paste and cleaned it and now its even better than what I initially thought. if buying second hand repaste and put ion developer mode and youll be set.

I'm on the fence. I'm a truck driver I have a large Plex library at home served up from my NAS. So I can watch all my favorite movies on the road. The native Plex app on my trucks LG TV doesn't have enough horsepower to stream Plex. I use the Plex Windows PC app intel i9 1200h. And it streams high-resolution high bitrate files without breaking a sweat. Streams it like I'm watching Netflix. I'm on the fence because I want more of a streaming app experience using the native remote. Not a mouse and keyboard. I have the most convenient Bluetooth keyboard iclever fold up mouse keyboard combo. I still would rather have a remote so I may be getting one of these. or maybe not for 200 bucks being 10 years old. I don't know man

App performs very poorly. Duplicate audio play issues across streaming apps are so annoying. In order to fix you need to restore factory settings and start the whole process of adding, linking and logging on in order to watch.
