Good video, I’ve got a Henry Big BoyX and also load the Horn. 240gr Xtp. I have a Swampfox 1-4 on mine. One thing that really made my gun better was installing a Ranger Point Precision sear. My stock trigger was 6 lbs, ugh. With the sear it’s a much smoother 4 lbs. The best I’ve been able to get is 2” groups at 100yds.

Interesting story. Thanks for posting it. A few years ago, a grizzly attacked a local guy at a campground up Wood River (Park County, Wyoming). Bear had him from behind. The guy was able to reach his .45 auto and reaching back over his shoulder, put 7 rounds into the bears head… killing the bear.

Reloading brings out the best in hunting rifles, especially for 6.5 Creed. For instance, my oldest son had a .308 that shot a 5-inch pattern at 100 yds using Brand "Fed" ammo. With reloads, IMR3031 and Hornady SST bullets shot a ragged hole. In the 6.5 Creed, I'm using Hornady CX bullets and IMR4895 to get nice tight groups. I was given some brass from a buddy that doesn't reload. Have yet to shoot any factory ammo in it.

@@30-06john Right-O. In my state we have to use non-lead hunting bullets, i.e. solid copper. Those usually need an impact velocity of at least 2000 fps or more in order to reliably expand, so very long shots are out.

Good video...too many folks want to blow up their targets, and it is not easy to cook scattered shards of meat (especially meat targets with little meat on them to begin with)...within about 25 yards these 'quiet' rounds are plenty sufficient, plenty accurate for assorted small critters...

I disagree. The 375 Ruger is more popular than I might think. Just because I didn't see a ton of hunters investing in a rifle doesn't mean it was a huge failure. If I was a huge failure don't you think Ruger would have stopped making rifles cambered in 375 Ruger by now.??? Well guess what they're still making them and obviously because people must be buying them. Rumor's are like wild fires they spread and are full of hot air. Aka BS. Seems the 375 J&H fan boys can't handle newer cartridges that do better than their beloved 375 H&H. So they make up BS. Now they've got you believing them. The 375 is simply not as popular as a 7mm or 30 cal. It's not rocket science.
@30-06john

Here in Alaska, the gun stores and ranges I go, the 375 Ruger is rare, the 375 H&H much more common. I have a 375 Ruger Alaska, has been a great rifle. My hunting friends and acquaintances have 375 H&Hs. Thanks for watching!

.357 Magnum, 10mm Auto and .44 Magnum was as big as I had in "powerful" handgun calibers. I've been going back and forth between a .460 S&W Magnum and a .500 S&W Magnum lately. I think I decided to get a .460 S&W Magnum at least first with possibly a .500 S&W Magnum later owning both. The .460 Magnum caught my attention because you can shoot 4 different calibers in the same gun .460 Mag, .454 Casull, .45 Schofield and .45 LC. I cast my own bullets so having a .45 caliber mold opens up lots and lots of possibilities over a proprietary .50 caliber bullet mold. There are only a few choices for the .50 while in .45 you have nearly 75 - 100ish combinations or so. Overall I think the .460 Magnum makes more sense. Already got the reloading dies, shell holder and bullet molds for .460 Magnum, .454 Casuall and .45 LC even though I don't have the gun yet. It's on the short list and sometime before Fall......it's the middle of August 2024 now.

Adding to my first comment, for both 357 and 44 magnums, I load full power in new or once fired brass, I then relegate those brass to heavy field loads for another 4 or 5 reloads, and then as many light plinking reloads till I see a case neck crack, whereupon I discard that set of brass. New brass has 3 different heat treats, base = hard, mid case = medium and case mouth = soft. The 'soft' case mouth work hardens with use. Stay Safe!! Jerry

You need to further test fire your ammo to be sure it doesnt jump crimp under recoil BEFORE you meet Hongree Bear! Use Only new or once fired SAME lot brass for reliability. Brass work hardens with reloading, and older brass may not crimp well enough to hold the boolit under recoil, particularly the last ones in the cylinder. If you do a reload, reload ALL 6 for fresh ammo! I have seen a remaining one or two ease forward after 10 or more shots. Test your reloads for that, mark one with a magic marker and subject it to 15 shots. Use a Caliper to measure it, not your bare eyes. You need too KNOW! Dunt git et!! Jerry

The Buffalo bore 44mag 340gr hard cast bear load produces 1533 ft pounds of muzzle energy. The buffalo bore 10mm 190 gr load produces 607 ft lbs of energy at the muzzle. The two rounds are not remotely close in performance. If you want your best chance at stopping a charging bear its hands down the 44mag here.

I agree.....I find Winchester's choice to go with a brand new cartridge at 40 caliber very odd, with no existing 40 cal bullets. Should have done a 1.8" length case at 44 caliber. 44 cal bullet selection would have been much better for reloaders, and also more ammo makers could get to market quicker.
