If you have flown the F86 without tanks, did you notice a difference?? tks
@DarrenRC7620 сағат бұрын
@@shelleibach20 you know I’ve had this jet two years and only for the first time earlier this year did I take the tanks off!! It’s a completely different beast, much quicker and less ‘draggy’ turns better and overall flys better without them. I do miss the look of them though.

@@DarrenRC76 Ya I like the look too.....I only have 5 flights on mine without tanks and wanted to give it a shot with them on. Just going to have to remember to keep my speed up and then decide if its worth giving up the look.....tks for the info

It handles the 12s really well. It wasn’t the best landing I’ve done with it, it’ll fly much slower than you think. I’d compare it to the freewing T45 Goshawk, but with better flight times and much more power.

Nice flight! How does the wing loading seem on a 12S set up? Looks like it comes in at a pretty nice approach speed. Love my freewing BAE hawk, imagine this one flies just as locked in or likely better -:)

How was the build? After building and flying do you think it was worth the $$ it cost. I love the F-86 but that's a lot of $$ for foam.
@DarrenRC762 жыл бұрын
Hi. The build was easy and was straightforward. Yes I definitely think it was worth it. It’s a lovely flyer with great presence because of its size. People get hung up because it’s foam or expensive for foam. If this was balsa it would be about the same cost but empty of components. If this was composite it would be double the cost or more and still empty!! My black horse eurofighter was £800 empty and has taken hours and hours to build and many more ££ to finish with a reasonable but not expensive setup. The HSD F86 was built in less than an hour and flight ready. It has a decent 120mm edf and HV servos throughout.

It flies lighter than the HSD F16 and I would definitely say the gear is stronger and more suitable for rough terrain than the F16. I like them both for different reason but if I had to pick only one I’d go for the F86

I'm afraid to say the nose gear mounting is pitifully weak. The nose gear is simply glued into a small shallow 45x100mm pocket in the 30mm of foam to the lower duct wall, no hard point at all. Good news is it very easy to make a mounting plate but why HSD omitted making one in the first place is a mystery.

Love the F-86 and would buy one of these in a heart beat except - no dihedral! Why would they make a model of this size and complexity and not put scale dihedral on it? HSD did the same thing with their T-33, which again looks really strange without any dihedral.

@@DarrenRC76 I think it is one of those things that once you see it you always see it, I actually have one of their Me-262s on order and whilst it also has some scale “deviance” I am hoping I will be able to over look them :-) I am sure you will love the F-86, it is one of the most beautiful jets ever built, IMHO only bettered by the Hunter.

Hi can you help please? I've bought this and trying to wire to receiver. Inside the aircraft there are 3 channel 5 connectors but only one channel 5 slot on the receiver? Thanks
@DarrenRC764 жыл бұрын
There should be a three into one ‘Y’ connector. All three gear servos go into channel 5 to operate the retractable undercarriage. I’m guessing you’re new to RC planes otherwise you’d know this. I would not recommend you to fly this if it’s your first RC plane.

@@DarrenRC76 Hi, can I please ask how you store your lipo batteries? I understand they need to be put into a storage charge but then do you place yours in a box like an ammo box? Thanks in advance.
@DarrenRC764 жыл бұрын
@@jayrermars8493, yep storage voltage of around 3.8v per cell. An ammo box is really good but tins are also ok. You need to keep them at a pretty stable temperature so not in a hot shed in summer or a freezing cold garage in winter. Keep and eye on the ones you don't use for a while, say over a few months. Buy a decent balance charger, one that measures Resistance through the packs and cells are good. For charging batteries like the ones needed for the Hawk you'll need something that can deliver some decent amps/watts otherwise it'll take you ages to charge bigger 6s packs (over an hour for some smaller chargers). I use an upright charger from Graupner which can charge two 6s packs at 10a (2c on a 5000mah) and a 600w 40a power supply. I can charge two 6s Batteries in around 20-25 minutes.
