Hi George Sunday evening not expecting a result tapped in on You Tube Taft 90mm edf bungee launch and what a surprise.I have tried to take off with my Taft Viper from our grass runway without success.I have a very good bungee and you have now given me the confidence to install the necessary hook and go for it.Fantastic flying by you i will be very happy with the same result.Thanks again George. ps looks like the H.K. bungee launcher that you were using.Jeff from Stafford.

Hi Jeff, it is indeed a HK bungee ramp, the bungee they include is pretty dire though. I got 10 meters of shock cord from B&Q to replace it, coupled with strong standard cord at either end to tether it. I double the cord up and pull it to around 10kg measured by some fish scales. It's normally just under twice it's length. Perfect results every time. I removed my landing gear and this saved a fair bit of weight, to balance out to plane the battery (5000mah overlander) now sits right at the front. This will give nearly 6 minutes of flight time if you go easy. I have place the hook just in front of the COG, it is reinforced with a 2mm plate of carbon fibre on the inside which is epoxyed in so it's less likely to rip through the foam. Good luck with it, it's a fantastic flying plane and my favourite by far.

HI George thank you for comments .I also changed the bungee for 50 feet of blue 8 mm surgical tube from HK for aircraft up to 5 kgs.The normal ratio for the tension on the bungee is 5/6 times the weight of the aircraft.So in my case about 15 kgs which i also check with a fish scales .I will be using 2x4500 3s in series, all up weight is about 3 kgs.Acting on your advice i will use the same method of fixing ,same place for hook.I will use your 10 kgs of tension.I can expect about 4 mns of steady flying with only 4500 mah at my disposal.Although i fly mainly fast aircraft i am really looking forward to flying the viper i will be quite happy to see it fly and to cruise around listening to the awesome sound these set ups with multi blades seem to make.
