The 2nd film takes place in an airport not an airplane and yes there is a 5th film but it was bad while the 4th film was actually good.

John McClane is probably the most relatable action hero ever. He’s not an invincible one man army, he’s not a highly trained killing machine, he’s not an unstoppable mountain of muscle. He’s not a super soldier like most action heroes are portrayed, but rather a simple police officer that’s out of his element. He doesn’t look really intimidating, he looks like he could be your friend’s dad. He’s just a guy who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He makes mistakes, he shows fear, he gets injured. But with sheer determination and willpower he overcomes adversity and insurmountable odds to save the day in the end. You’ll see characters like Rambo kill like 100 guys or more in a movie, but here McClane struggles against a dozen armed and intelligent men. It’s not a showing of McClane’s weakness or inexperience, but rather how competent Hans and his crew really are. As far as action movies go, this one is a refreshing change in an oversaturated genre. Definitely one of my favorite movies ever.

Live Free or Die Hard (DH4) gets a lot of unwarranted hate. It’s honestly my second favorite film of the franchise. If you guys ever get to it, it would definitely be worth watching. The fifth one definitely sucked tho👎🏾

You two are just the best...watching the best action movie ever made. Merry Christmas from small-town, USA in Central Californa. I could watch you two dicing onions together...wouldn't be a dry eye in the house, that's for sure.

That was great! Thank you! Yes, I think so too - this definitely IS a Christmas movie. I liked all four parts and I really think they are worth watching, even if DH3 and DH4 are not Christmas related. Looking forward to your next reaction. From a Romanian brother, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year …

Over here gaslighting John! Sheesh. lol The first woman was looking at HIM, he just noticed that she was (out of all careers, flight attendants are notoriously promiscuous). The second woman was meeting her guy, which made him think of his own relationship with his wife. Meant to be like a, "man, I remember those times." type of deal. Acting like he's just thirsty for women out here, when he's a faithful guy. These interactions were just playing on his rocky relationship. "Well, I guess I got options if it doesn't work out" kinda thing with the first, and "damn, I remember those times." with the second. Many people misread those moments, so it doesn't bother me any. Just wanted to clear it up so you don't think John's a scummy guy.

Even Mr. Bruce Willis himself has said that this is NOT a Christmas movie. I, respectfully, disagree...

Great reaction as always guys. This is arguable the best action film ever made. The plot, script, protagonist, antagonist, and character development were so tight! You were pretty much right, this was Alan Rickman's film debut as he had only done theatre and a few T.V. gigs before. It did launch his career. John also knew it was Hans because he saw him in the beginning when he was on top of the elevator taking names and counts. Bruce Willis became partially deaf in his left ear from this film. The director used maximum blank load in the weapons for sound and effect and the scene where he was under the table required Bruce to fire close to his ear. There are 5 Die Hard movies, though most write-off the 5th. Generally, the popularity of them go 1-3-2-4- - - - - - -5 but you should continue for at least the first 4. The 2nd is also a Christmas movie but not to the same degree as 1 is. Merry Christmas or I think you say there Happy Christmas!

That version of a car phone works in the same way your mobile phone works today. Motorola developed some of the first mobile car phones in the 1940s. Like the internet, cell/Mobile phones started off as a U.S. military project.

Steph love that you said you preferred Hallmark movies and at 7m in the vibe is kinda a Hallmarkish thing of awkward separate couple might just get closer but then argue lol that probably pulled you into this action movie more than most! This move certainly has it's delicate and softer touches and the buildup is a Masterclass of how it's done

I can still remember how pumped I was after watching this movie as a teenager when it first came out in July of 1988. It was one of the best movies I ever saw. It STILL is. It's nice to see your reaction to watching it for the first time. Bruce Willis was not a movie star when this came out. He was only known for the TV Show Moonlighting, which was a comedy. I really liked him on that show and was stoked that he pulled off such a great movie. No one thought of this as a Christmas movie until about 10 years ago for some reason. I will admit, I usually watch it around Christmas even though it was originally a summer blockbuster.

A few years ago a friend of mine and his coworkers were getting off of work in Manhattan and they ran into Bruce Willis walking down the street. They called out his name and Bruce went over to them and started taking selfies and talking with them and Bruce told them that Die Hard is not a Christmas movie. It's a movie that takes place during Christmas time but is not a Christmas movie.

Thanks to Liam and Steph! 💥 Never listen to naysayers. Watch 'em all and decide for yourself. Even if you don't like a thing in its entirety, you might like (or even love) bits. Those bits might end up being very important to you. Don't rob yourself of that possibility.

They've had radio "mobile" phones in cars since the 1960's, cell phone started being everywhere by the mid 90's. The computers used priority operating systems. Windows was still 7 years away. It was Rickman's first film, then he went to Quiggley Down Under.
