Nice video. Because of the salt mining, and resulting subsidence issues, all the old timber framed buildings have tiny gaps between them to allow them to be jacked up independently. It’s a bit more complicated than that but it’s a reasonably interesting fact about Northwich. I think the ground has supposedly now been stabilised.

Northwich is going downhill - I've lived here for over 60yrs. Alot of the pubs have long gone & the old precinct is really scruffy / boarded up - you should've filmed & walked round there. The library has been in that state for a good few years. Northwich isn't what it appears.
@AbroadYorkshire3 күн бұрын
Hi David, Thanks for watching mate. Pubs are closing at an alarming rate all over the nation unfortunately, but from the eyes of an outsider, Northwich is quite a lovely place believe me IMO buddy. It would be a real shame if the local authority allowed it to decline.

my Grandfather Sam Preece owned Marbury Lodge just down from the canal Bridge, it was later brought by ICI who demolished it in the 1960s, a little later they demolished Marbury Hall, built by the Barrymore family which was sited not far from the steps, the lake is Marbury Mere, the village opposite is Great Budworth, its strange you felt spooked, Marbury has a famous ghost the Marbury Lady, During war, the site was used has an Army camp and later a pow camp, the car park was built by the American Army has a vehicle park, loads of History in the area, Lions salt works museum.

You missed some pubs by not going far enough up the high street. Where you started is one called the Bird & Hat a good Rum bar and great music. We have LOTS of great live music in Northwich. Too many to mention but nearly every pub has music on at least once a week. Some more then that. Some great cask Ales around also.

Hi there, I found your channel after booking a weeks holiday on the Campsite at camping armerlo in benidorm, as many campsites wouldn't accept our 1 year old Rottie. How did you find the campsite with your rottie ? Just watched your latest vlog about Princesses Bonnie. I'm so glad she recovered from surgery. We've had rotties for 20 over 20 years. Subscribed and liked u channel from a sheffield yorkshire lad n lass 😊
@AbroadYorkshire4 күн бұрын
Hi Rachel, thanks for watching. Everything was fine at Armanello. When checking in, Bonnie was sat in my divers seat watching everything I was doing (as usual) so the receptionist reminded me that she needs to be muzzled when out and about which we knew. A good tip is get a key fob for the emergency gate, half way down the camp site 20 Euro which is refunded upon return. That way you can come and go with the dog without having to walk right through the camp site, and on the other side of the gate is the lane I walk down on all of my Benidorm videos. Right there is a huge waste ground where you can let the dog do what they need to do. We always let Bonnie off her lead and took her muzzle off when on there as there were rarely any other dogs, she was happy enough to sniff around the wasteland or tip first thing in a morning and last thing at night. Another good tip is to take a little torch for the night time walks on there. Apart from that no probs what so ever. Most bars are fine with the dogs and I think it’s now the law that they must accept them if they have an outdoor seating / terrace area. Just take plenty of water and I always took a little spray bottle with a disinfectant / water mix just in case she was ever caught short in the street, which she never was. Also, if you walk down to the bottom of the lane and directly across the road, there is a dog park there with a bit of grass and a walk way, if you turn right towards the market instead of going straight across towards the park, opposite where the market is on a Weds and Sunday, there is also a gated doggy exercise park with obstacles and ramps etc. Hope that helps a bit. If you need anything else, just drop me an email to [email protected] and I’ll be happy to help, as I pick those up virtually straight away. Enjoy and have a Guinness for me. Shaun
