After the furlough and starting my own company I did briefly. It all depends on the center you’re in. Small centers have less movement in staffing so getting linehaul could be challenging. I knew someone at my center which was a hub to go in less than a year but then that was it no other openings came up. You may get lucky though so it doesn’t hurt to try.

Every center has different start times and each route is different. Overtime isn’t guaranteed but when it’s busy I was getting 2-4 hrs depending on the day

The consignee could refuse the freight simple process on my end, a call to my dispatcher and some forms and back to the center it goes

I do own my own truck. I bud on loads via load boards mostly drop and hooks, some live loads. Go for FedEx, I volunteered to take a furlough to start my business. Depending on where you are in your cdl phase do the apprenticeship with them well worth it!

Single axle tractors can go into so tight spaces. Even hauling a 53 ft trailer

Be very careful with the top heavy skids the energy when the wheel goes off the back end could cause it to go over.

If you are a city driver punching in your 6th punch is time and a half. Road it’s the same pay as your normal days just an extra days pay.

Hopefully this answers your question. It’s a city route or P and D. In it you can do volume loads which is take a full or and empty trailer to a shipper or receiver drop and hook or live load or unload and then take it back to the yard. Or you can get a trailer filled with different stops and execute them and then do pickups afterwards or at the same time depending on the timeframe and location.
