Hey bro I worked in the office majority of my life but since I was laid off in 2021 due to Covid I decided to get my CDL at 38 years of age. So far I worked at 3 trucking company’s 7 months experience. (1.Dollar General OTR) (US Foods local) and now JB Hunt OTR regional. So far it’s not working out for me I was recently put on a 3 month Probation because the door on my trailer wasn’t secure when I was backing in and when I backed into a dock my door pushed it in. It technically wasn’t my fault because the trailers here are in bad shape. Just the idea of being put on probation makes me want to look for something else or give up on CDL all together. I have been looking around FedEx seems like a cool job.

So sorry to hear that that happened to you. Put in an application, come on over, I believe due to your experience level you will still have to go through the driver development course however the plus side is you’ll be home ever night and getting paid very decent while training. I think FedEx is a good place to work, if you are seriously intending to leave I don’t think you’d be disappointed. Good luck with everything, safe travels.

I used to shop at that Adams Fairacre Farms (28:25), belonged to the local volunteer fire department for multiple years, shopped at other stores also shown, etc when I lived in that state, lol. One word of caution though, I probably wouldn't show BOLs which have the customer information, what they are shipping, etc on it. Hopefully this answers your question. It’s a city route or P and D. In it you can do volume loads which is take a full or and empty trailer to a shipper or receiver drop and hook or live load or unload and then take it back to the yard. Or you can get a trailer filled with different stops and execute them and then do pickups afterwards or at the same time depending on the timeframe and location.

I can still go back to teaching but teaching is no longer a fulfilling position. So I decided to take the plunge and get my CDL A. I have that and all I need to do is get my endorsements. As for the other companies I mentioned. Some claim to offer bells and whistles, but all I read here and elsewhere, are complaints. However, I don't see too many complaints coming from FedEx drivers. Most of the time, they are extremely happy and the driving skills FedEx offers carry over to linehaul and of course, FedEx Ground. Lastly, I see that North Arlington, NJ has a City Driver Apprentice program as well. I'll look into that too. I think the area is nice as compared to Elizabeth, NJ.
