I have volumes of tales about that dude in my possession. My heritage is West Virginia/Virginia. I know there's a a county in West Virginia named "Wetzel." I KNOW his story! Go and tell me something new about that guy I've known about many a year! The poor ol' native American folks suffered very badly at his hands. Wetzel was one very nasty S.O.B. And the being tethered to a stake with a loose rope? I know what they did to Crawford up in Ohio because of the innocent murders of the Moravians on the Tuscaroras River near Gnadenhutten, OH. I know too well the story. It makes me sick. And so on...😢😢😢

Ballistol was World War One, not Two. Think Kaizer’s soldiers…not Nazi. Works on metal, wood stocks and leather straps. Can also be mixed with water…making “Moose Milk” for use to clean muzzle loaders and black powder revolvers….mixed 5 to 1 or 10 to 1. I use it at a 5 to 1 mix for mine. Good how to video. Keep it up sir.

My grandfather served as an NCO in the Kaiser's army in Russia, wonder if they really used this back then? I use Ballistol, love it, BUT, it is made of mineral oil. Mineral oil is not good for leather or gun stocks, in spite of what the can says. I used to work for GRRW in the late 70's, been a custom riflemaker/bagmaker since then.

Because I am an American and from the day, we chew ourselves off our mother's umbilical cord to the day a wild animal eats us, we are fighters born to wrestle nature itself into submission and sometimes we make soup. Well not really, but if a guy wants to cut up a hotdog and fill a plastic bowl with hot tap water, it is not my place to tell him how to live his best life, I am no relationship expert by a longshot but on a first date this is the kind of soup that says yes I have skills but I am not thinking I am better than you, and chicks respond to that big time. It’s a baby making move for sure. In America you can bake and build a gingerbread house, or a village with a gumdrop wheelchair ramp if you want to, and if you are like me, you like a woman that was a bad seed but now, she just wants to grow into a good bush that becomes a shade tree one day. Here is what I can tell you if your neighbor gets a dog, you gonna hear it bark and sooner or later it will poop outside. But you know the color of the ticking you use and for what is your choice, you have a mind but you also have a heart, make sure you listen to both of them.

That's the dullest case knife I ever saw
@ChacoteOutdoorRecreation2 ай бұрын
Was not always that way, and sure is not the knifes fault, it is the fault of the almost blind arthritic guy that tasked that knife with many things dulling it in the dark processing Elk and a bunch of other stuff, it never let me down, maybe not as sharp as she once was but neither am I or my skill with the stone, either way I would not trade her for all the tea in China. Josh you may see an old dog that can barely walk and can't go far from the truck anymore, but to his owner that dog is the best dam dog in this world, understanding that comes with a lot of pain and punches to the heart, common wounds for the old, In fact Josh I hope you don't understand any of this for a very long time.

Dear St. Francis, patron saint of animals, I come to you with a heavy heart. My beloved pet has passed, leaving an emptiness in my life. I ask for your intercession to bring comfort and healing to my soul. Help me remember the joy and love shared, and guide me through this time of grief. May I find solace in knowing my pet is now in a place free of pain and suffering. Thank you for your compassion and understanding. Amen.

Great video, i tried a bunch of different things, bore butter, ballistol and water. What my gun likes best is Soap and water mix . The wife makes soap, i use the scraps, grate them and un about 1 cup water boil to desolve. One of my rendezvou buddies said dont use detergent. It has chemicals. So i use soap and water.
@Carnyx_14 ай бұрын
You should not set it at 25 inches. You should have a buddy or large 6 foot object at 100 yards and then move the range finder closer or farther from your face until it lines up. Then you mark that distance on the string. That's the distance YOU need for that device to work properly. You then set your string length to that lenght and it's tuned.

@ChacoteOutdoorRecreation7 ай бұрын
Have you ever tried shoving a pocket watch in that pocket? The vest and its pockets as well as the button retention device and fob, and countless historic photos make me think otherwise. 1873 - Blue Jeans Are Born Levi Strauss & Co. and Jacob Davis receive a U.S. patent for an "Improvement in Fastening Pocket-Openings." By adding metal rivets to work pants, and they are worn by working men for whom a pocket Watch is a rare luxury item. In 1914, Henry Ford astonished the industrial world when he practically doubled the wages of his assembly line workers to $5.00 per day (for a six-day week), thus making them nearly the highest-paid hourly workers. Adjusted for inflation an inexpensive pocket watch would be over 700 bucks today.

Wax dueling?
@ChacoteOutdoorRecreation8 ай бұрын
In 1908, pistol dueling was demonstrated as part of the concurrent Franco-British Exhibition, using the Olympic fencing arena and in front of invited guests. There were no official demonstration sports until 1912. The competition involved two competitors firing at each other with dueling pistols loaded with wax bullets and wearing protective equipment for the torso, face, and hands.

What is the greatest of all Protestant heresies? Perhaps justification by faith? Perhaps Scripture alone, or one of the other Reformation watchwords?" The greatest of all Protestant heresies is assurance. "The great diversity of Protestant doctrines stems from the doctrine of private judgment, which denies the infallible authority of the Church and claims that each individual is to interpret Scripture for himself. This idea is rejected in 2 Peter 1:20, where we are told the first rule of Bible interpretation: “First of all you must understand this, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation.” A significant feature of this heresy is the attempt to pit the Church “against” the Bible, denying that the magisterium has any infallible authority to interpret Scripture. This doctrine of private judgment has resulted in thousands of different Christian denominations and quasi-Christian splinter groups throughout history. The Protestant Bible is missing seven books compared to the Catholic Bible, meaning it is incomplete. Missing books are known as the Apocrypha or deuterocanonical books, including Tobit, Judith, Maccabees, Wisdom of Solomon, Baruch, and Sirach. King Henry did not like having to yield his royal authority to the Vatican in matters concerning how he maintained the religious institutions of his own kingdom. He was motivated to make the reforms so that he could divorce his first wife who had failed to provide him with a male heir. Divorce was forbidden by the church that was founded by Christ, Mathew 16-18 And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

The storage box is a great idea. I wonder if I can make the same stand work for a single shot and a revolver.
@ChacoteOutdoorRecreation8 ай бұрын
I used a V notch for the octagonal barrel, for a cap and ball revolver you might try as U shape notch, four pieces of wood and some screws and a little gorilla glue for extra strength, plus that little storage box helps keep things handy, and it beats loading off hand.

A very informative, interesting video. Until you added the superstition and mythology at the end. How many angels can dance on the head of a pin? None. How to rid someone of a demon, just slap the crap outa them and chunk their bible out the window. I won't even mention walking on water and raising a putrid, stinking corpse from the dead,,well I guess I just did. I enjoyed your video until you insulted my, and others' intelligence with religious rubbish.

Wow, you got it right, about driving the knife in all the way to the Green River. So many people have gotten that wrong. I learned it by reading the journal of a trapper. He said and I quote "If you have to fight a bear, stick the knife in all the way to the Green River, and leave it there" I bought my first three Green River knives back in the mid 80's, 1980's that is :) And I still have them, and use them in my kitchen all the time. Great knives. Stay sharp, and hope your doing well.
