The only thing missing was a Mossie. That was my dad's Squadron in the RCAF, 410. IMO, as beautiful as the Lancaster. Both awe inspiring to see. I have a lot of his photos.

Such a nice bunch of lads. When they were down at Southend I managed to chat to some of the flight and they were more than happy to spend time chatting away to us. Was lucky to be at the end of the airport with my camera when these 2 were here. Nice photo of them at the end of the runway together and taking off.

A gorgeous place. The colours in the video are rather muted and don't really capture the freshness of it. My wife and I picnicked there on a beautiful day last year. . 😄

I don't have room for what you have. I've gone for a Small & Simple Cat Valley Steam Railway, Winter Wonderland Style. Not everyone has room for a large layout. I love steam engines, GWR comes top of the heap for me.

That is a cool matchbox, I haven't seen that model before. The ziti pasta in the smoke box is an odd touch though.

Nicely done, the addition of steering chains fashioned from fine chain would also enhance the Matchbox traction engine. Also have a look at.the Ertl traction engine which is also a good base to improve on, here's the link to my article on Flickr- kind regards- Rob:- flic.kr/p/bcCBfR

Do you strip the paint back and prep them before painting. As the paint job is too thick on the maroon one. And you missed a few spots here and there. But nice all the same.

Bonjour Richard, Great review and action of this K1. I like this loco and like to ask your advise. After almost 3 years of running is this a good reliable machine ? I have 2 Maunsel's S15 and the quality is less than perfect. They wobble due to lemon shape driving wheels and one of them has slow speed problems. The Hornby made in PRC have quality issues and I do not want to waste money. What's your verdict ? Thanks for sharing, Kind regards, filip

Brilliant work Southend.... .My Dad was an Air Nav Instructor with the "Air Plan"... During a very stormy Christmas 42' he was transferred to...RCAF Station, ST. Huberts in Montreal... as soon as he landed late for service at lunch ...he made a Bee-line for the mess...where he introduced himself to the base Dietitian ...."The Star Of the County Down".... she served him personally where upon he exclaimed that her food was the best in the bluudy Empire:)...and invited her out for dinner .....Me Mom..".Dot" Patton.

Excellent video I remember when I went to the bluebell as a kid with my parents because we thought my grandad or great grandad (can't remember which) owned on of the steam engines but turned out it wasn't the same person just they happen to have the same name lol but lovely to see some of the old steamers and diesels.

Hi, thanks for comments. Yes.. Bluebell is a really good day out. This year they have all 4 Deltics going there in one hit, and...Flying Scotsman is going there. It is now one of the top preserved railways in the UK, as well as one of the first.See you soon.

This loco looks so good. Will it run around a 16inch curve like the Hornby Thompson L1 (it looks very similar in wheel arrangement and length). Only difference would be the distance between tender and body.
