John Bennett, thanx for comments. Yes the park is really coming on. Hopefully finished by next video. My photo backgrounds are from Gaugemaster i think. Been to the Ally Pally show today and bought some really good stuff for layout, hence running session video is late....cheers and glad u like the layout. Richard.

Thanks Martin for the comment. The good thing about the removeable boards is that there is no limit to the number you can create, and you can have so many different scenes which are all interchangeable ! Industrial, urban, recreational, etc, imagination is your boundary ......... Richard.

Great update Richard. You are certainly progressing very well. Like the idea of the park scene. You could always put a wall where the board meets the back of the houses, that way it would hide that joint in the boards. The play area is full of interest, very well done Richard. I am very impressed with the photo backgrounds that you have done, really good. Do you use any special type of photo papers, or is it just glossy paper??? Keep up the excellent work Richard. Kind regards. John.

Great update as usual. You have some very good detail on your layout and you have some great ideas for developing it further. I Like the park scene and the idea of a bowling green and café sounds great, Metcalfes do a wooden park pavilion which would double as a café and clubhouse/changing rooms for the bowling club that use the green, I remember one just like it in my local park when I was a kid. The pond looks fantastic, you have created a ripple effect on the water, please explain how you achieved this, most people when using realistic water seem to have a very flat look to it, yours looks very realistic. Go with chimneys on the schools they all had them in the 50's. Thanks

Hi Graham, Thanks for your great comment. Im already working on the cafe/ clubhouse angle as we speak. The finished product will be in next video. As for the pond, i first put a very thin layer of realistic water on a pre painted surface. As it dries, it makes the paint ripple and bubble. As you then add subsequent layers, slowly waft a hairdryer over the surface, making the water ripple and thus a " moving water " effect ensues. Hope this helps. Keep watching. More soon.

littlehenham Hi Richard, Thanks for your explanation regarding how you use Realistic Water, I shall bear this in mind when using it (I have yet to start my layout). Just one further question when you pour in the first lot of Realistic Water do you pour it on wet or dry paint to get the moving water effect.....Graham
@littlehenham
@littlehenham 9 жыл бұрын
***** Hi Graham, I tend to pour it on when the paint is semi dry, otherwise it just mixes in and all becomes a load of paint / water mush, and not giving the result required. TIP : experiment first, before you do for real on layout. Good luck with your layout. Look forward to seeing yours. Details please. Richard.

you could add a council van in the park doing something like trimming the hedges
@littlehenham
@littlehenham 9 жыл бұрын
Hi Luke, I like the Council idea, someone cutting grass or hedges , and i think i will add that in. As for a Hardware shop, then an Open All Hours type of establishment could be done. mmmmmm ! Glad u like the layout Cheers.
