Why does he have to switch the engine off at lights? Why not put it in neutral?

I drove for about 4 months with my master cylinder out so it would disengage the clutch for about 1.5 seconds before engaging again.

great video, plenty of useful details. Scott makes it look easy and explains all steps very clearly. Now here is a challenge: if you think replacing headliner is hard in an SUV, try the same in the new Integra. Windshild in place, of course...

I figured this out by accident once then every time id drive id just do it for the fun to show my mates it was possible amd got quite good at it then later on in a different car when i was 80ks from home the slave went and thats when i had to put all my practice into use, i was just lucky the only red light i came to was on a downhill so i could slowly let the car roll forward in nuetral until i was able to get into first gear
@Supersonicx900023 сағат бұрын
ok i know how to float gears that easy but how in the fuck are you rolling off?

Clutch "going out"... is that a common thing on manual cars in USA, because you guys just don't know how to build manual cars properly? Because here in Europe, I have yet to hear of anyone's clutch going out, and everyone drives a manual here. I have 8 cars behind me, between 10 and 20 years old, with mileage between 200k and 300k, and none of them ever had a clutch failure.

AH no clutch. sounds like the 13speed 70s farm truck I was driving for harvest last fall. Grind em till you Find em. It's not as bad as it seems and you certainly learn quick as heck the optimal speed/rpm combo for smooth shifting.

I just discovered this. Fantastic. I'm sure this young lady is all grown up now and has her own shop and KZbin Channel. Please tell her I am very impressed with her work on this. I started working for my dad when I was 10. I owe him so much for most of the mechanical knowledge I have today. Thanks dad. This also reminds me of Eric O at SMA with Miss Hannah and Miss Marie working in the garage and learning to work on their cars. Well done Scott. My respects.

I drive almost daily my peugeot 106 without using the clutch (i only use it from stop in 1st since it's not broken). But i use revmatching for downshift, it's way more convenient and once learned you can easily do heel-toe (or you also learn left foot braking)

Technically, you're double clutching... right?? xD Reminds me of learning to quickshift on a motorcycle, only way harder and with higher risk lol. Made it look easy, expert driving. P.S. I wonder if the rate at which the fluid pressure increases when you start the engine would have an effect on your ability to get off the line in 1st? Seems like as the engine starts the pressure is low, and the clutch "slowly" engages as the pressure builds. Interesting nonetheless

Just to be clear, this is extremely detrimental to the synchromeshes, and will grind gears no matter what. It's a shame, for that Holden Commodore (pardon, "Pontiac G8") is a collectible car...

I was messing around once in my Subaru WRX after watching a video about Colin McRae and his driving style (one foot gas the other brake) and forgot to hit my clutch and inadvertently did a perfect gear change with no clutch. No grinding or catching at all, a perfect smooth transition from 1st to 2nd. At first I thought it was just incredibly lucky wizardry, but as I learned more about transmission works with a standard gearbox, I realized that while I was absolutely lucky, it wasn't wizardry after all. And screw the haters, if there's no one around to hit, pin that throttle

Semi? No cluch? No problem! *if you don’t get it, it’s because some semis done have synchros, meaning they can shift without the cluch*
