This is amazing thank you but there is always a but lol what about the retargeting for Genesis 8. I do not see it in the Retarget folder. I do not see a proper G8Retargeter.uasset as I see the G9Retargeter.uasset one... I have a G3Retargeter.uasset lol but no G8. Any help would be much appreciated.

Greetings again. I have just started delving into the basics of animation in Daz Studio 4.22 Pro and have to ask. At start, I load a large scene that contains several characters, but the Timeline is instantly filled with all kinds of keys. Is there any way to zero those keys while retaining the preloaded positions and poses of the characters that I load? How will my custom pose presets be applied if I need to use them as part of subsequent animations? Many questions I would relish to pose if you would grant the time.

Hi Roman, keyframes can be tricky to deal with if you don't know how they work. Sadly I don't have a generic answer to your problem, because it'll depend on what's happening in your project. As a rule of thumb, pose presets with animations get loaded where the playhead is, so a 100 frame animation will add its 100 keys at the position of the playhead. To reset or delete them, select the figure/object, then use the hamburger menu on the timeline and choose "clear animation - clear selected figure". Moving figures while retaining their position is best done by adding the figure to a null, then moving the null to make a positional change. For more specific support, I recommend you become a supporter so we can chat on my private Discord. That way you can share screenshots and I can make more specific recommendations on what's happening with your project. Hope this helps!

@@WPguru thank you so much for your reply. I so greatly need answers to questions regarding animation that I will gladly join the channel. Please share the link. As for my project, it is a large mishmash custom scene with several characters that I open in Daz and instantly see the timeline literally riddled with keys

two words: THANK YOU! Like, seriously, thank you. You have no f**king idea how much I **_*hated_* the splash screen for my 2021 Premiere Pro. I don't know why, and I'm sure most people don't hate it, but for some reason it really gets on my nerves. I looked into the later versions and the art doesn't get any better. Honestly I am speechless how Adobe manages to include some of the most stupidest looking splash screens.

I was following along until you got to "Set Curve Value" but then there was nothing in the dropdown for the curve. Am I missing a step? Should I have followed a different video before this one? I can see all the curves for the morphs I exported from DAZ when I open the skeleton, was there a step where I was supposed to do to associate those curves with the skeletal mesh?
@WPguru
@WPguru 4 күн бұрын
When you open the skeletal mesh, take a look at the Morph Target preview tab (open it under Window if you don't see it). Do you see you expressions there and do they drive them? I had to select them on export in Daz Studio.

When I right click on the skeletal mesh for the ''Create IK Retargeter'' there's no option for me to choose it. I only got ''UV Editor'' and ''Create'' but nothing in between. I am on 5.4.3, I don't know if the new update broke something...
@WPguru
@WPguru 4 күн бұрын
It definitely works in 5.4.3, for me it's the second entry in the menu, with a flyout menu to pick the skeleton. Another option to create a retargeter is by right-clicking in your content browser, then navigate to Animation - Retargeting. If all else fails, I'd try it with a different generation character (Genesis 9 and 8.1 both work well, 8 has issues).

I'm converting some old G2M morphs to G3M, and I noticed a few things that I'd like to pass on. First, after importing my new morph, the resolution on G3M switches back to High Resolution; it's a good idea to check this if you're going to be importing several morphs one after the other. The other thing I found, is that when I dial up a morph on G3M created this way, the figure pose changes somewhat to match that of G2M. A quick fix was to dial up my imported morph, then dial the G2M clone to -100 %, export that as a new morph, then import it. Now the converted morph works without changing the figure pose.

@devi1sdoz3n 9 күн бұрын
I have to say I find the notion of ot being able to use the morphs you bought to create a commercial character perticularly silly. This is a character creation program, and the morph dials are just a way of shaping, like sculpting in Z-brush. Also, if I've created a character by using hundreds of morphs along the way, I challenge anybody to prove that I've used their particular ones in the mix.
@WPguru
@WPguru 8 күн бұрын
Small correction: it depends on how you distribute those morphs. You can share a character preset that's made up of existing morphs, then tell users they need to have those existing morphs installed for your preset to work. That way you're sharing your creation, without sharing someone else's property (i.e. the original morphs). A great example is the G9 Starter Essentials Expansion being a required product for your product to work. If you bake them, it's more convenient for the users, but you need to have merchant resources licenses for the morphs so that things are above board.

Hi. I select all the key frames for a property e.g twist in the graph editor, how can i assign a value for example, zero to all of them at once? I don't want to move them but i want to assign a value, all of them. Thanks
@WPguru

That.... can't be done natively as far as I know. You can delete the selected keys or move a selection up/down, but that's about it. There may be a script that can do this but if so I don't know. Search for the mCasual scripts, there's a lot of small tools in there.

cool script, for example if in the background there are many things and i like to use blur effects i can use decimator to lighten the background models, who cares if they are in psx era shapes, they are blurry in background while the girl is close up, also you can use scene optimizer and camera angles optimazer for optimize even more the scene, besides if you are in ai you can render a small image and the upscale it with various models ;)

@WPguru
@WPguru 10 күн бұрын
Oh yes, good challenge! You need to make a socket on the Daz skeleton, then tell the weapon to attach to that. Have a look at the Manny skeleton and see where the socket it. Also, the socket may need adjusting so that the weapon looks correct in their hand (don't rotate the weapon, just the socket). Good luck!

Solved my problem - had lots of material assignments and they wouldn't transfer to an updated model. Assigned each to vertex group and then transferred the groups to the new mesh, which made it 10000x easier than manually selecting faces and assigning materials. Thank you SO much
@D2Davis
@D2Davis 12 күн бұрын
In Blender 4.0 you can actually select specific weights to transfer. (This method requires both objects to be parented to the same armature, in my use-case I did this to copy specific weights from a character's body to a clothing object) Select the bones influenced by your weights (in pose mode), then go into Object Mode, select your reference mesh, then the mesh you want to transfer too. Now go into "Weight Paint" mode, then "Weights > Transfer Weights " and finally click "Selected Pose Bones" under Destination Layers. Sorry if I did not explain this well, just make sure the bones are actually selected (highlighted blue) if the "Selected Pose Bones" option does not appear.

Why doesn't the bookmark function work when piloting a cine camera? It seems that the bookmark only works in perspective view, but the function does not work on the camera where it is needed.
@WPguru
@WPguru 14 күн бұрын
I suppose the because the cine camera object listens to the sequencer. Typically you use your shortcuts and convert them to a cine cameras, then refine and animate them.

Generally this works well. However I've noticed that the combined morph doesn't match 100% the look of the morphs it was created from. For instance, in one character I did this way, her lips were slightly separated using the combined morph, but closed when I originally created her. Any thoughts as to why? I thought at first it was because I had used HD morphs, but I removed those when exporting the OBJ just in case, and it made no difference.
@WPguru

No idea. It's not an exact science, so it could be loss of resolution or that a controller didn't adjust properly.

I'm sure there is, but how to do that I don't know. There is a 2 hour live stream on the Unreal Channel in which they discuss this in more detail, and they show an example on how to add crouch functionality. I would image the same principle could be used to add other animation to the mix, like swimming or fighting.

But couldn’t you do this with all animations? Like if I buy an animation pack from the unreal marketplace, that’s male animation can I go into the blueprints and change it to Quinn and it’ll be the same animations just with a female body type and stance ?
@WPguru
@WPguru 16 күн бұрын
Oh sure, you can use any animation with pretty much any mesh - if it'll look good is another matter. Ideally we want a female character to use female animations rather than burly male animations and vice versa. Imagine a Neanderthal male walking like a female fashion model - not a good luck 😄 Hence I thought I'd explain the MM and MF difference and that we have an easy choice with this template.

Hello Sir. So I have been battling with something for some days now, and i feel if anyone knows the answers it should be you. My question is, how do you export dforce simulation from daz3d studio to maya?
@WPguru
@WPguru 16 күн бұрын
To get animated dForce drapes out of Daz Studio, the only reliable way I know of is as MDD point cache. You'll need to export the first frame of your cloth as OBJ, then MDD for the entire sequence and combine them. The full version of Animate is required to do this (doesn't work with the lite version). Blender can handle this, so I'm assuming Maya can as well - if not, you can export another format from Blender (like Alembic or OBJ sequence). Get the full version of Animate here: wpguru.tv/animate

I’m so mad. I purchased so much Reallusion software ware, like iclone, character creator and etc… just to turn around and go right back to Daz because it was my “first” since 2013. And for what I am currently trying to do, it just makes sense to stick with it because I have tons of money invested into Daz. I wish I could just give sell my reallusion stuff to someone who is interested in it to get some money back.
