How did mother Aughra travel through the stars? Besides bringing life to Thra, is there any other purpose for the dark Crystal? Does mother Aughra have more powers or abilities beyond what is known so far? Where do the tree beings come from? Was there someone else like a Creator before all the events of the Dark Crystal happened?

I think the Crystal would have corrupted them somehow. Not in the same way as how the Skeksis used it, but I think they'd have turned their back on the natural world for the libraries inside the castle, growing more and more passive while the exiled Skekis grew more feral. There can't be balance or healing until the Crystal itself is healed.

Perhaps it would have combined with becoming even more overly spiritual and they would have wound up with a bunch of acolytes. I can't help but think how the Gelflings wound up with a crystal cult. I think it would have happened sooner.

What a Crazy Theory!!! I love it! Intrigued speculative idea! But frankly I think that in one way or another the Skeksis would end up being masters, owners and lords of the Castle, and also probably the Urru would end up hiding, taking even the damaged crystal... Although ironic idea of ​​the Skeksis rebuilding their own kingdoms and leading a manipulated rebellion against the mystical monks of the dark crystal! Very well done. You wrote an awesome script for this. Thank you for using this idea, and I’m glad you were able to make it come to life. I’ve been a Dark Crystal fan since I was about 8 years old, and my interest in it has only deepened since the show came out and you began making these videos. We can only hope that we will eventually see more Dark Crystal on screen, animated or live action puppets. There are still many things left to cover on screen, such as witnessing the Great Division.

One theory I'm curious about is what if they Skeksis were benevolent and the Mystics were evil but still lived similar lives like in the film? Like what if the Skeksis were still kinda hedonistic but actually cared about Thra and the Mystics were trying to corrupt Thra?

it's just a personal revelry, but I liked the idea that the crystal was transparent except for a tiny black shard at the tip of it. and they instantly thought of their connection to the crystal and to thra and imagined they could just chisel off the black shard and rid themselves of all inner evil by doing so, but what actually happened was the moment the crystal cracked the tiny shard was suddenly transparent and the crystal while not completly black as the shard had been was no longer transparent as was a deep purple so thick it appeared black at the center mass.

The comic power of The Dark Crystal shows the Mystics meditating around the Crystal of Truth now can you say that they would do the same for the Dark Crystal? IDK but the funny thing about that comic is the Skeksis went to jail but still was conniving to take power. Yeah if the Mystics stayed at the castle of the crystal no darkening spread or at least very slowly. But the biggest question I have is how would they become one again?

My question is: how were the Garthim able to be made if there was only one Gruenak? Did Skek'Tek induce Parthenogenesis via further experimentation on the crystal? Or was the Mariner sent out to bring mire Gruenaks to the Castle of the Crystal?

What If... The Darkening corrupted all the Gelflings, imbuing them with diabolical power and the means to capture and enslave their Skeksi Overlords, claiming the Dark Crystal for themselves?

Feral versions of the skeksis I see being a kin to the saiyans in dragon ball, or Makuta from bionicle. Warmongers yes, but each still had their own loose jurisdicition over a place or region. As each Skeksis would oversee/bully a gelfing clan as the mystic are too passive in this time line to interfere with invaders of skeksis. SkekSo would be out for power still and make himself an alpha in some ways without the royalties of such a title as emperor, rather like Chief or Forefather of sorts and without tampering with the darkening he gotten stronger living off the lands and so did the others. SkekUng and SkekVar would be left and right commanders being brutes, and podling beings considered uncared for by others as much would be the best slave class for skeksis to use in their pack skekAyuk making horrendous dishes, skekNa capturing animals for sport into their arenas for entertainment, while skeksis like Scientist, Collector, Satirist, Treasurer, Ornamentalist, Scroll Keeper go live with Gelfling for the depend on them too much. SkekSa had the sifa clan, Scroll keeper/Collector live with Vapra, Treasurer was last heard in the Drenchen swamp so I see him taking refuge there. NOW as for the Chamberlain hear me out I see him staying in the crystal castle as a hermit like he did in the 82 movie sneaking around the mystics waiting being desparate to sees the crystal power and once he gets the shard he'll rally his skeksis brothern behind him as Revived emperor, and such using its energy and capturing the mystics like he mentioned to skekSo before. And one by one murdering mystics to kill their skeksis counterpart like urMa to General, urIm to Garthim Master weeding out any future skeksis rivals and all those skeksis will rejoice under Lord Chamberlain.

@@DreamfastwithMe I'm thinking on doin fan comics with some ideas, like the reason why skekNa got his eyepatch was because he was accused of something and him being the master of torture, used a Peeper Beetle out of defiance of skekZok proposal, basically saying "I'm more deranged than you to do the act first and on myself making me scarier than your torture methods". Thus started the Slave Master, and Ritual Master rivalry that was hinted in the 82 movie novel. Thus skekUng took him as his second best ally for his sheer viciousness, cause when Gathim Master said trial by stone, skekNa knew the ritual by commanding the trial first before Ritual Master could say thus giving skekNa an advantage over skekZok during that turbulent power grab in the movie, knowing skekUng was going to win and wanting demote skekZok as 2nd in command. Other skeksis relationships that could been elaborated on more is skekZok/skekSa friendship, how skekUng felt about skekVars passing(I'd say he's furious but looks to Chamberlains demeanor for being suspicious but lack of evidence and just assumption so didn't bring it up).

Problem is, the lore isn't consistent. With the graphic novels exploring the time before the film it was the cracking of the crystal that was its darkening, in AOR it was the actions of the Skeksis. So you can't really create a clear narrative around what the Mystics would be responding to in a non-Skeksi controlled Thra. At the same time, you're going to the very root of who the two races were - the Skeksis are will and desire for power taken to an extreme with no compassion or empathy, the Mystics are all compassion and wisdom but with no will to engage with the outside world. How could the latter take control of anything?

I imagine the Mystics would not see themselves as controllers, but rather shepherds, keepers and guardians of the Crystal. The Skeksi were the "Masters" of the Crystal, the Mystics would be the Tenders. And, yes, the Skeksi are will and desire incarnate but they're also, at their core, afraid of the Mystics and what they mean. They're the mirror image, the reflection they despise but cannot deny. A reminder of what they once were, and the shame that drove them not just from their home to Thra, but drove them to shatter the crystal. The Mystics would immediately call for allies to help defend the castle, to keep it safe. They would take administrative roles, doling out tasks and requests, but never demanding or dominating; they strive for peace and harmony, after all. It would be the Gelflings and any other sentient races that would create the stalwart force at the gates, but instead of being seen as disposable tools, they would be valued allies. They'd be encouraged to read, make music and art. History would not be kept from them. The Skeksi, on the other hand, fleeing from a show of power from the Mystics? Oh absolutely. They wouldn't fear dying, but evil fears being treated the way they treat others. The Skeksi would fear being trapped, caged in prisons and pits. It's what **they** would do, after all. So they'd run and then, after a time realize their mistake.. but with the People of Thra standing in the way, they'd need to form an army of their own. So while this would be a bit of a stretch of a What If, I can totally see it happening.

While I agree that it’s a little far fetched for the UrRu (Mystics) to control the Crystal rather than the Skeksis, it’s not an impossible scenario. Unlikely yes, but impossible no. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed it. I am honored that DreamFastWithMe made this video out of something him and I personally discussed.
