I saw you over on the Minvo's channel talking about this so I came over to ask a question. I never record in 4k and don't want the hassle of working with such large files. But what you think about this device being 8-bit instead of 10-bit? This is only something I have begun exploring because I have seen some video quality on KZbin from the RCV that seems a little washed out or soft and I wonder if this is the reason. I am curious to know what you think? After having watched an older B&H video called "8-bit vs. 10-bit Video | What's the Difference?," my understanding is if you color grade your video, you will need to watch out for banding.
@GuilDormeusКүн бұрын
@@Teacher_Tangents hey! Fantastic question. I have also noticed that the footage lack a bit of detail or character. I shoot 10bit on my Camera and there’s a huge difference from 10 to 8. I have to personally get my hands on it to see.

I'm in total agreement with your and the community. CAP-CUT is the best way to go, if all you're going to do is make Social Media content. IE: KZbin shorts, FaceBook Reels, and TikTok videos (especially in vertical mode). Final Cut Pro is $300 for the base software, then you have to buy "plug-ins" to make the auto caption work, or just to add a scene transition. The worst part about Final Cut Pro is, they have no interest in competing with Cap-Cut and/or trying to similar services. I spent $300 on FCP, then $300 on training material, then $200 on plug-ins for Auto Caption, AI tracking, and scene transitions. Granted my movies and shorts looks amazing. Then I saw someone editing videos on a iphone and said "FCP is on iphone?" Their response was "What's FCP? This is some free software from the Google Play Store." I can understand not knowing what FCP is, but to not know the name of the software you're currently using; that is almost identical to FCP, blew my mind. Long story short I only use FCP to make long content, anything under 30 minutes I use CAP-CUT. I understand why FCP doesn't want to entertain plug-ins for Social Media, but COME-ON, they could at least re-tool a sweet just for social media content. Cap-Cut is great but I hate paying $100 a year to use it.

For doing remote lives, this is the way. For sure. Hopefully through many firmware updates they'll address the issues that early adopters raise but as @tombuck points out, if there's a dude that could really give Rode valuable feedback for the intended audience, it seems like you're the guy.
@Kiramitsuoka24 күн бұрын
Not wanting to say this is bad, it's not, it sounds amazing what it is capable of. But I'm still criticizing Rode for labeling a very, very basic "if then else" operation (if level on mic 1 use camera 1, else if level on mic 2 use camera 2) with the magic buzzword AI. It is not AI AT ALL! All it does is checking the signal level of the mics and switching to the camera assigned to that mic, add in a hold function, for when the discussion gets heated to keep the camera on the initial speaker and not the one talking into the speaker, and a small delay/hysteresis to not switch back and forth constantly when there's a few MS between sentences and the other participants cough or something like that.
@GuilDormeus24 күн бұрын
I don’t think they called it AI I think I did 😅 I have to agree with you that it’s not for everyone but it’s definitely made for people who want to simplify their setup for podcast production. I know for sure with a few updates that they will fix that camera switching potential bug
@Kiramitsuoka24 күн бұрын
@@GuilDormeus You're right, I just had a look on their website and Rode calls it "Intelligent auto-switching" so let's meet in the middle and say your "AI" stands for "Automatic Input" so it keeps it sense in "AI switching feature" <3

Great content as always chief!! I myself are very happy with the entire Adobe full suite. Now that I'm training for podcasting, having the ability to record all my tracks separately via Adobe Audition (trust I tried Mac's Garage Band, but not even close, its a long story just trying to do multiple tracks) and being able to apply a quick filter to make my audio files in line with YT loudness specs NOT to mentioned that after all my Atem files and Audition files are done, all I do is dump them into Premier, run a 3rd party plugin and my entire 3 camera / 3 audio podcast is done in a matter of 5 minutes tops its music to my ears. And did I mentioned it actually does better tracking of the various cameras so as to make the edit that much more dynamic. I'm just having a blast, wish I had more time to move faster but with work, errands, things needing fixing around the house, a teenager, 2 dogs, and well you guys know the drill......I'm not a single guy anymore that can spend hours getting his plane off the run way, but I'm not complaining I'm enjoying every moment. Again many will say "just start recording now" but I say the contrary, as long as your working and doing baby steps (Atomic Habits) and you are one of those crazy people that pay attention to detail then spend all the time you need, there is no rush when one is playing with his/her hobby :)
