Thank you so much for sharing this. I have a 20-gallon Husky compressor, and it has been hissing progressively worse over the course of this year, and runs far more frequently. Went out to the shop today, after about a month long haiaitus, and after the compressor had filled, the hiss was very loud and unstoppable (even with a relatively low pressure of just 50psi in the tool hose.) My regulator knob is a bit different, but it looks like the rest may be the same. Hopefully this will resolve the issue and I'll stop losing air, and wasting energy recompressing to cover the losses.

Great explanation but we couldn't see the latches cause it was too dark . Maybe you should put a light on the part to make it brighter

Thanks for posting this video. My 2013 5.7 with 153000 miles got the p1524 code I replaced my pressure sensor and the light was still on. After watching your video I changed my oil and replaced my small Stp filter with the larger Mopar Mo-899 filter and that fixed the problem! Thanks

Thank you for your video. I did an oil change and my pressure jumped right up to 52 at idle. 121k miles. I used synthetic blend with an extended life premium filter. I need to get my light cleared buy at least I have great oil pressure again. My last oil change was done at a center and this is whst I deserve. They used a generic filter. Never again.

Buy your oil filters at the dealership. I found they cost LESS at the dealer and you get the right filter for your truck.

in the video you mentioned a weird brief rattle on acceleration. How did you fix that? thanks!
@attached2mygarage37
@attached2mygarage37 6 ай бұрын
The rattle was caused by low oil pressure throwing the trouble code which deactivated the Variable Valve Timing system. Changing the faulty / clogged oil filter resolved the low oil pressure issue, clearing the trouble code which in turn resolved the VVT deactivation which was the source of the rattling sound. Try changing your oil filter, even if it’s newish. Hope this helps.

Great info , i screwed my pressure knob off with some pressure on the tank and the air blew all the guts out . I found everything but i must have another problem. I noticed your pressure didnt do that.

This is for anybody else that may read this in the future with the same type of compressor. Be careful when you unscrew the regulator knob. If your regulator is seized or sticky the parts he is showing to take off can fly across your shop and get lost in the sawdust. Best to bleed the compressor down. You can service a seized regulator by using either a 17mm or 11/16" box wrench from the back side. Remove the needle, spring and o-ring and clean it and lubricate it. Mine had seized and when they do you lose the function to be able to adjust the pressure to the tool. It was a simple fix, but I think I looked everywhere online and couldn't find it.
@ronyerke9250
@ronyerke9250 7 ай бұрын
Actually, that's not an o-ring. The manuals call it a pressure seal. They're used in hydrolic applications, too. Grooved side toward the pressure.

Thank you so much for your video! I have a 2011 Ram and my check engine light came on yesterday. I changed the oil a little over 3k miles ago but I usually but the Mopar 899 filter and they were out of that one. So I bought a K and N filter which is smaller than the Mopar. First thing tomorrow morning I'm going to change the oil and filter again using the Mopar filter or Purolator or something the same size as the bigger Mopar . I hope that works.

Alternator was/wasn't charging intermittently. This caused the battery to die on me intermittently. I used a digital battery tester, ran the charging test and found that the charging system was not working. The bearing also happened to be bad on my alternator which was causing smoke and burnt bearing smell after running the engine for a while. Alternator went on me at 190,000+ Miles

Had this issue myself last week, oil pressure while driving on the freeway was at 38-42. Changed out my “VP Racing” filter out for a WIX filter with the anti drain back valve (which the VP Racing didn’t have) and pressures are all back to normal 52-54 while driving freeway speed

Man you are my hero! My 2017 just threw this code like a week ago and I should still have over 1000 miles before an oil change, still have good oil levels, I heard that clicking/vibration a couple times and was ready to light the truck on fire. The only thing I did differently was change the shop I brought my truck for an oil change. I'll swap the filter tonight after work and see what happens.

my car says it has 5psi ever since i changed the oil and used another filter, same codes appeared and now it does a weird noise on engine but the dipstick has no oil, ill do these steps and see if it works after, thank you bro 🙏🏽
@attached2mygarage37
@attached2mygarage37 Жыл бұрын
No oil on dipstick, yikes! Make sure you've refilled your oil until oil appears at the proper level between add/fill line. If the oil disappears after that you either have a massive oil leak or a failure/blockage in the engine oil lubrication system i.e. oil pump or blockage elsewhere in the system. Hope you are able to get things sorted.

Hi. Thanks for you helpful video. I changed my filter and the light went away. I also have the same symptoms you described: vibrating sound at about 1500 or so RPMs. That is still making that noise. Can you tell me if you fixed this some other way other than the filter change? Thanks again.
@attached2mygarage37
@attached2mygarage37 Жыл бұрын
Hey Bryan, In my situation the rattling/vibrating engine noise was caused by low oil pressure impeding proper operation of the variable valve timing (VVT) system. The filter change resolved the low oil pressure which resolved the engine trouble code and disruption in the VVT system. If you have not done so already, after your oil filter change, you probably want to clear the trouble codes with a scan tool and drive your vehicle for a few dozen miles over a few stop start cycles to see if the VVT rattle stops. If it does not stop, you may have another issue at hand. Good luck.
