Dude!!!! You just saved me a bunch of money, time and frustration. I have the same compressor, and the leak had gotten progressively worse over the last few months. I was ready to replace the entire manifold, but then I came across this video. I did it just the way you described and now it's holding pressure perfectly. Thank you!

My regulator was still leaking after following this procedure. My guess is maybe the o-ring failed due to forgetting to drain the compressor after use a few times. I've only owned it a few months. Anyway, maybe someone will find this useful, to fix the issue I bought N008792 Regulator Repair Kit (off Amazon, but available elsewhere as well, for about $23). It is for Craftsman, Black and Decker, Porter Cable etc. compressor regulators, but I read a comment from someone that it fit their Husky 33 gal compressor, and yep it fit my 30 gal 200psi perfectly. I just had to replace the plastic disc which had the o-ring on it, and it comes with silicone grease. And I have the remaining parts in case any of the other parts of the regulator fail down the road which is nice just in case.

Dude, this is a life saver of a comment lol saw that same repair kit on amazon but didnt know if it would fit a husky or not. Definitely going to give it a shot now because my plastic disc broke in half. THANK YOU

Thanks! I had the same issue with my 8 gal. Husky. The knob wouldn't come off at first. It has a brass pin that keeps it from coming off. I was able to back the pin out a bit with a small screwdriver. After that it was easy. Mine had some tiny specks of debris in it. After I reassembled it, the problem was fixed. No more leak.

Thanks for the video. Mine still leaks when I take the seal out. I think there is another oring in there that is leaking. Could be temperature related. I had my compressor in an enclosure and it got pretty hot. It was cycling a lot too.

This is for anybody else that may read this in the future with the same type of compressor. Be careful when you unscrew the regulator knob. If your regulator is seized or sticky the parts he is showing to take off can fly across your shop and get lost in the sawdust. Best to bleed the compressor down. You can service a seized regulator by using either a 17mm or 11/16" box wrench from the back side. Remove the needle, spring and o-ring and clean it and lubricate it. Mine had seized and when they do you lose the function to be able to adjust the pressure to the tool. It was a simple fix, but I think I looked everywhere online and couldn't find it.

Sadly replacing the o-ring didn't work but I noticed the threads on the Red control knob were damaged, ended up finding a Porter Cable replacement regulator assembly for $32 that fits much better and now I am all fixed up. It has a shorter knob so less chance for it to get banged/damaged now, part number is N246884 just had to re-use the pressure relief valve from the old one as it wasn't included, I used a tee fitting on that side so I would have 1 tank pressure outlet and 1 regulated. Also mine NEVER pumped up to the advertised 175psi tank pressure with the original regulator, it shut off at 150psi, now it works properly with the replaced regulator.

So I have the same problem. The hissing is not coming from the o ring but rather from the center of that little disk. Is there supposed to be something in the center to prevent the air from coming out? I didn't see any micro o-ring or anything.

Actually, that's not an o-ring. The manuals call it a pressure seal. They're used in hydrolic applications, too. Grooved side toward the pressure.

I have the same air compressor and it is leaking near the regulator. I noticed that the leak started when it got cold. I think that it may be due to the cold temperature expanding the aluminum manifold. I see that lots of other people had the same problem. This should be made better especially because its made in the USA! I will try your fix and see if that fixes it.

My red regulator handle seems like it stripped a little, I’ll get so much pressure then it pops and presser drops as I try to turn it, does anyone know if I can just buy the the red turn nob without buying the whole $100.00 regulated.?..

Never mind. That internal pin I mentioned came from something else and was lying right where the srping from the knob landed. It just looked like a part that could have came from the under side of the plastic cup. My plastic cup isn't made the same though. It is designed so the 2 divided dides compress together. No O-Ringin in there. The only O-ring I can find at Husky parts is one that goes inside the plate where the cup meets the actual regulater plunger

No matter how low I turn the regulator knob, the regulator guage keeps going up until I turn the compressor off. I've used it only a few times before without any problem, but it has been a few years. I gave away my older little compressor when I bought my big Husky and now I'm sorry. I don't want to be blowing 150 psi through my tools. Do I need a new regulator?
@attached2mygarage37
@attached2mygarage37 4 жыл бұрын
If adjusting the regulator knob doesn't increase or decrease the pressure to the regulator the threads may be striped on the knob or it's time for a new regulator.
@matthewmills6452
@matthewmills6452 6 ай бұрын
It means your regulator is seized. I know you've moved past, so this is for others that may read in the future. Use a 17mm or 11/16" box wrench from the back side of the regulator. Twist out the spring and clean the needle, o-rings, and spring. Put it back in. From the front side, the part he showed to remove in the video, you should be able to push inside and feel the action of properly functioning regulator. The needle will move back and forth smoothly. Many replacement regulators are sold, when this is the problem.

@@duanestonehouse5825 yes sir I fixed a nice Faucet and it works better than when the original O-ring was new… almost as if it was designed to fail. It was the O-ring that worked with the switch for the two different spray patterns… couple hundred dollars saved on an O-ring that likely costed me 15% of one penny.

Hey if you are willing to donate to the cause, I'd be happy to replace with an oil lubricated compressor...... Just trying to pinch those pennies. Have had this compressor for nearly 4 years now with almost daily use. Still runs like a champ. For a budget compressor, semi portable, and higher than most PSI on 120v I recommend.

@@attached2mygarage37 Point made. We've come across our most important problem now. Money. Money is the reason why people cant live the way they want. This system is based on Money. And money turns people into greedy and selfish beings. The people running the system know this already. They want you to be a slave of money, for the rest of your natural life. They know that this money based system has lived its usefulness. We're at the point in life where we can live in a system without money, based sely on common sense and generosity. In out current system things cant get done unless you got the money. From Government things, to individual things. You cant get anything done unless you got the money. My point is that we need a new system. And I got this system. I already came up with a way to live in paradise. We wont be able to live good unless we get rid of the money limitation. We, as a species are limited by money. We're at the point in life where we can evolve, and become better. But the secret societies that control the system dont want to give up their power. It's Freemasons doing all this. And until we get rid of them and their web of secret societies, we will never be free. So yes, your problem is much bigger then pennies for a new compressor now. We're up against satans army.
