Why flameable gas is big no no? Some advice: "Propane is the most typical gas used for MIG Welding Guns. Propane is a widely used, readily available, and reasonably priced fuel that resembles gasoline. It has a low heat index, which results in a smooth, uniform weld and minimal heat distortion."

Also, most manufacturers imprint the alloy number on the rod. Another thing is, have only one rod alloy out at a time.

couple of questions : 1, when I have set it to 20cfh after press the button on the torch and then when it time out , it settles to about 30cfh . I have noticed that after I went to grind the tungsten put it back in the torch I saw that the flow reading had crept up to 35cfh and it was still climbing , slowly but still it was climbing. What does that mean ? Should it do that ? 2, I tried to weld as I am new to all this , as I welded it went to 20cfh , when stopped , settled to 30-ish cfh , then carried on like this for a few more goes . Then thought ok , stop for now , so I turned off the main valve , then just pressed the button to bleed off the gas . The flow gauge went down but the pressure gauge for the bottle stayed where it was . The main valve for the bottle was definitely 100% in the off position . After the flow gauge went right down , I turned the regulator adjusting screw all the way backed out so no pressure on the diaphragm but the the gauge for the bottle, what is left in the bottle stayed where it was . What does that mean ?

100% agree with the first 10-15 comments here , simple and to the point and clearly explained . Best video on youtube for setup the gas bottle Thank you very much

A lot of structural steels are fairly low carbon but have about 1% or a bit more of Mn and and a small amount of Si as well. A rule of thumb for the hardenability of these steels is a carbon equiv content of C+(Mn+Si)/6. So for example a 0.2% carbon steel with 1.1% Mn and 0.4% Si would have a carbon equiv of about 0.45% and be somewhat hardenable. I think that this may be something like what you've got there.

That first mig weld was too cold. Turn up voltage a little bit more and it won’t spatter as much at all, sounds better, penetrate more, and won’t have lack of fusion on the first 1/4” of your weld.

My experience with gal pipe, stick welding, is you don't get a good weld most of the time, as it is not steel but malleable iron.

Someone told me you cant weld galve pipe and keep the weld totally rustproof (apart from painitng which isn't 100% of course). Are there galve electrodes? Can I weld a galv pipe so it is an rust resistant as the pipe itself? Or do I just have to paint the wled to (help) stop rust? Thanks.

Mild steel, long cool sparks, carbon steel shorter hot sparks, stainless steel dim cool short sparks, white cast iron lots of reddish orange sparks like carbon steel, gray cast iron short orange sparks, titanium bright white sparks, magnesium occasional greenish white sparks, aluminum no sparks, nickel dim red orange sparks, tool steel bright yellow sparks with forking, carbide dim red sparks on sic wheel.❤

This was insanely helpful!!! I've been reading my welding books over and over again to try to understand the concept of constant voltage and constant current power sources, and it never clicked till now. Thank you so much for going in depth in the video and also in the short bio of the video! Both of those combined improved my knowledge of CC and CV. Hopefully, I can pass my test now!!!

Muchas gracias
