Is there no way to shut off the parking lights?
@JohnsJeepGarage2 күн бұрын
If you go into your settings section, and if you DM me on X (Twitter) or Instagram, I could send you a picture. But if you go into your settings section on your display, you will find a list and you would need to click on lights, and you will see there is a daytime running lights option which you can turn off and other options.

Impossible to do with a winch. Take your winch off first or you'll hate itself
@JohnsJeepGarage12 күн бұрын
I posted your comment for others to see. It depends on your winch, your aftermarket bumper, and the winch to bumper layout on how you installed it. There is easily enough room to remove it without having to go through the labor of removing a winch in many cases. Agree there are some the winch to bumper install installation ratio creates no room to remove the grille. This video focuses on removing the grille for there are many users who do not have aftermarket bumper or winch.

I know its a temp fix, how long does a few drops of oil last? I am ordering a new cardon distributor from RockAuto, just curious how long? i am in CT and the weather is getting crappier and I hate wrenching in the rain/snow/cold....etc. lol
@JohnsJeepGarage17 күн бұрын
Sorry this ended up being your same issue. It is so much easier when it is just an idler pulley. 😃 If you use WD-40 for example, not long, 2 weeks. If you get the oil in there as described, do it a couple times, 2-3 months. The first time I did it I cannot tell you if I didn’t do it enough, but I’d said it lasted over a month. The second time I did it I took more time and applied it, and it lasted about three months. I would guess it’s based on the severity of your issue. if it means you can get enough in there to delay it for later that would be great. Thank you for watching.

@@JohnsJeepGarage oh wow thats much longer than I expected. thanks for the info! Yeah, last week I had a local jeep shop do the freeze plugs, $2200 later and now this! lol its typically one thing fixed one thing broken. thanks for the info, I just ordered a replacement distributor from RockAuto, its going in as soon as its nice out.

@@JohnsJeepGarage bummer its not the distributor, its either the idler pulley or the fan clutch. it started to go away when it warmed up, but i also put a few drops of oil on the idler pulley. So now I can't tell which one it is, but I put a screwdrivers on the idler pulley bracket and I felt some feedback with the noise. I ordered a new distributor and will just install that later. The shaft on mine was rusty so I thought it was definitely that. Sadly its not. I'll keep chasing it down.
@JohnsJeepGarage16 күн бұрын
That’s why I was asking if you were sure it was the distributor because the way I could detect it was I pulled the belt off so none of the accessory pulleys were running and I let it run just for 60 seconds to see if the squeak was still there. And since it was, then I knew it was the distributor. Is there no way you can get your money back? Since you have to take the belt off, the idler pulley’s are not that expensive. But I bought myself a mechanics stethoscope from Harbor freight. It has a long thin receptor Rod. Just be careful since the car is running. I’ve seen it where the alternator is the culprit as well as the idler pulley which are more common.

Are there conditions where the parking brake will turn itself back on? My wife’s BS died in traffic, we were able to pull the manual neutral cord for the transmission and get the parking brake off with the engine off, but when we tried to push it, the parking brake would set itself again. Driver’s door was closed. Crazy that Ford doesn’t have this info in the owners manual.

After replacing the sensor and going on a test drive my abs light came on again. Do I have to clear the light with a scan tool also?
@JohnsJeepGarage2 ай бұрын
A couple questions? A normal scan tool will not work unless it has the ABS reader. Normally, the light will go away but the code will remain in the system unless you delete it with the ABS scan tool. How did you know which side to replace? I only ask in case there was another issue as well. A normal OBD2 will not clear it.
@JohnsJeepGarage2 ай бұрын
Did the scan tool pick up any other issue?
@4000jetta2 ай бұрын
I took it to a local repair shop and they told me it was the front right wheel speed sensor. I replaced it and drove a mile or two and the light came on again.
@4000jetta2 ай бұрын
I just ordered a Innova 5610 scanner from Amazon for $241. I will sort this out once I get it. I just wanted to know if the abs light was supposed to stay off once the sensor is replaced.
@JohnsJeepGarage2 ай бұрын
Normally it has gone off for me. But I also erase it with my ABS Scanner. So I never really have the opportunity to see if it would come back on by itself. It may just be the code is still in the system. But if it is driving normal, I would say you fixed it. I enjoy my scanner with ABS as well (Autel) because it has helped me tremendously. Thank you for watching.

Nice idea on using the black cap on the battery terminal. Will have to remember that. I'd like to know why Jeep mounts the alternator backwards like that? Thanks
@JohnsJeepGarage2 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. I am glad that tip was helpful. On the alternator, it is about alignment with other engine accessory pulleys for the serpentine belt. So it’s more about where it fits in the engine bay with that particular engine. As an example, look at the TJ , more access on the 4.0 L and able to have the alternator set back with belt in front. The same on a Jeep Wrangler JK 3.8 L, room in the engine bay to have the alternator back and pulley facing forward to align the accessories and belt. The new design 3.6 L versions on the same Jeep JK body, reverses the position of the alternator for easier alignment. The same with different model cars. I realize the design engineering teams create other problems too for jobs that were simple like changing spark plugs. I like the older styles easier access.

thanks was just looking under mine for the first time there, and that gas tank is way in the way, you made it look easy to work around it... i'll be working on this next weekend....
@JohnsJeepGarage2 ай бұрын
Since it is not lifted, I want you to try something, if you try this, you will see as just a test the difference in your access. Put a floor jack under the rear bumper and start jacking it up. You will realize that you are not jacking up the frame or the vehicle, but you are raising the rear end which itself will give you more of a clearance with the gas tank. Thank you for watching.
