1:06:17 I’m a Christian and I think it’s at this point the Christian argument fell apart. Jesus Christ yes was human, but always, was, and always will be God. Even when he came down as Jesus, he was definitely God and all knowing. I think that’s why I think someone in the Catholic Church or a bishop that’s used to going to Christian counsel performed this debate. A lot of errors or weak rebuttals from the Christian perspective. All due respect to prof but it’s like a student battling a teacher.

Sadly, there were no atheists present. This was a very frustrating one-sided debate. There needed to be someone with a strong character who could correct the creationists' flawed arguments. This pissed me off big time. Seriously.

I'm shocked to hear the atheist woman towards the end say that atheism is a belief system. Is theism a belief system? No. Neither are. They are descriptive terms about an answer to a question. Is there or isn't there a God. If you answer yes to that question, theism. If you answer no, atheism. There are no systems associated with either. Christianity is a belief system. Secular humanism is a belief system (and also the cancer of Thanksgiving 😂😘)

it always amazing to me that people sit around and discuss belief in a invisible undetectable super being and wonder whether that is rational. you have someone asserting there is no evidence of the universe popping into. existence out of nothing. They hang on this despite the research supported by evidence which posits many possible solutions to the question from cyclic cosmology to the no boundary theory. His solution of a deity is anthropomorphizing in it's childish assertion

Believing is never rational, thinking is, also admitting that you don't know is rational, pretending that you do on bad evidence, highly irrational.

It's actually quite easy. Believing in god is irrational because there isn't a shred of evidence for one. The only rational position is weak atheism (a lack of belief). Also, the argument about the origin of the universe is pointless... the only intellectually honest answer is that we don't know and people shouldn't be afraid of admitting that. Sticking a god in there isn't even a hypothesis, because you'd need to prove the possibility of god first.

Religion rational? Christianity, the largest religion across the Earth, is based on a Sumerian creation fable about a bare naked lady taking dietary advice from a chatty snake. Really!

There is no "-ism" in being an Athiest. Being an Atheist is a descriptive label about someone's belief in the existence of the supernatural being part of reality. That's it. You're either convinced its part of reality or not. Period. Full Stop. The "-ism" sufix ascribes a world view. What is the world view of anyone that doesnt believe X is part of reality? You can't go there. Its not possible to know someone's world view based on what they told you that they are convinced or not convinced of reality. Those are lists of facts to them. The world view is the filter that helps them discern what to be convinced of about reality or not. These are literally two non-overlapping categories. Everytime you hear someone say the word, "Atheism", you know they dont know what they're talking about and are just spouting out platitudes from their in-group ideology. Ascribing "atheist" to a political regime is an irrelevant descriptor to that political regime. Its a completely neutral irrelevant descriptor. Oh this secular regime was brought about by atheists. Oh this feudal system was brought about by atheists. Etc. Its irrelevant to the political regime to add the label "Atheist" since being an atheist literally has nothing to do with your world view or political views; Its as important as to say all the facist regime leaders had mustaches. Facial hair has nothing to do with a political agenda. Being an atheist has nothing to do with a political agenda. You can be religious and secular. You can be an atheist and religious. You can be a theist and be secular. You can be a theist and fascist. Most are BTW.
