I'm still doing about $75-100/week ... but the miles I'm doing, making sure the mount is prefect, the time having to upload everyday, and not knowing where you've driven and other drivers have driven is starting to make it not worth it anymore for me.
@Future_Networks6 күн бұрын
I certainly wouldn’t go out of my way to map, but if you’re already doing the driving then $75-$100/ week seems extremely good for just making sure the mount is right and the data is uploaded. Saying that, if your returns are that good because of your tactical route choices - perhaps best to just drive where you’re gona drive and take half the earnings for half the hassle?
@619ota5 күн бұрын
@ I do Amazon so I’m almost always on a random route. But. There are like a dozen ways to get back home and usually the same time and mileage to get home. I like to know which way hasn’t been driven to maintain the weekly freshness. But since I’m driving blind I mostly just head to the freeway.

I don't see how this benefits Helium Mobile. I could be wrong, but I expect significant mobile offloading on highways. If that's the case, a higher-than-normal percentage of data will go through the T-Mobile macro network, which is costly for Helium Mobile. In contrast, slow-moving users are more likely to offload data indoors, where the Helium network is more frequently available.
@Future_NetworksАй бұрын
@@shizane101 I guess helium mobile benefits from coverage tracking too. But why would slow moving users be more likely to offload data indoors? Totally reasonable that someone driving in central New York would use their mobile data to upload images as they drive. You make an interesting point though, and in general I am interested to see trends in helium’s data offload bill vs. Income from other carriers offloading via helium mobile hotspots.

I get it, but with global warming, rising sea levels etc, water scarcity seems far-fetched. Another sketchy Future Networks project. If it's instant hot water around the house, it's a glorified qooker system that costs a fortune and continually uses power to maintain the temperature. Let's get the water infrastructure shored up first and the leaks fixed before we save a few litres in our own homes.

What strange wording. This channel is not meant to shill projects to you, it’s for informational purposes and you can do what you want with it. This one is not for you - that’s fine, we’re not encouraging you to get involved, we’re giving founders a platform to give their project overview. I do think your points are valid though, perhaps there are more pressing issues in the world, though in some geographies water scarcity is a far bigger issue than others, and for people in those places a device like aquasave could be very useful…not for you, fine, doesn’t mean it’s not for others. ….But the term “another sketchy FN project” is unwarranted.

@@adamfrench920thanks for the comments, Adam. I think Hivemapper needs to do everything possible to make the project a success - if there aren’t enough ‘crypto enthusiast’ drivers to make the map good enough to rival Google, it make sense to go for the commercial fleets. That didn’t work, 200+ miles per week with about 70% of the mileage previously never mapped, it didn’t cover the fuel cost.

Take good care of your dash cam and hope Hivemapper doesn't create a manufacturer's defect that requires you to send the cam back to Hivemapper to be fixed. If that happens, like it did to me, be prepared to be without use of your dash cam for at least three months and corresponding loss of token earnings. It will take about two weeks just for Hivemapper to email you a return shipping label. Their customer service isn't the quickest, and any repair timeframe quotes they give you are grossly underestimated. Zero concern from Hivemapper about your loss of token earnings.
