The motor in my opinion is the best overall 250 four cycle made to date, the power and durability are there.Dependability is number one .

This bike (with or without fairing) was designed as a sensible or older biker 'persons' fun / lower budget sport 'ish' commuter bike. I am nearer 60 yrs than 50 and can tell you this bike is quicker to 60 mph than the best ( early model, fastest at stock) 350 YPVS, it is better in every way over the later 70's - to near modern Honda CB 750 / 4. The SV 650 (practically all inc. early carb. models) are much more tractable, faster flat out (just), does comparatively ridiculous miles to a gallon. (You might get 37mpg out of an early ypvs on a long EMPTY WALLET 65mph run and the later slower versions with end can looking exhausts (F2/ N2) might get 40mpg driven home before payday, the CB 750/4 in the 70'S / 80's / 90's was similar here and if you thrashed any of them they dropped to below 30 mpg.) The sv650 is what it is, it is not a great tuning platform or anything.. (but it is faster than a stock early 350 YPVS and does 20 more mpg ish) The ENGINE is better than the rest of the bike (suits me. Heavier riders should likely take a tooth off the front sprocket of faired bikes) So. IF you dont like the brakes on your SV 650 change them or sell it and buy another bike. When they are all 'gone', a lot of people (esp in in Europe) will regret not buying a scruffy SV 650 for sub 2k euros just cos they go like a frick3n 350 powervalve.

Best video of a WR250R that I've seen yet! Nice work! I want one...

no wonder, why you are missing a little bit torque: your reartyre dimension is "wrong"! The whole set up is made for 120/80, not for 120/90! So the diameter is way bigger and you loose torque. You would need more teeth on the rear sprocket to just have the stock transmission. You need to wind this out more, it can handle higher rpm than other Japan enduros. To me, the WR250R is just a lovely bike. Still a bit too small for big drivers and yeah, 50-100ccm on top would be so great. As well I chose another spring and use a higher seat. In the end, absolut handy and super easy to control bike. Riding is just relaxing and under control.

That thing sounds like you’ve still got it very choked up remove the restrictors off then take it for a ride Myself Iam experienced and much rather the wrf the r is more like a learner bike/farm bike (too slow)

This could have comfortably been a large scooter, by having the fuel tank under the seat. Why did they make it as a motorbike...who knows?

I'm glad I bought my CRF 300L, it's got gobs of tractor factor, torquey down low and mid and it's so forgiving on gear selection, there's just always power there when you roll on it. Seems you gotta ring these out to unlock the power.

When the wr250 falls and fails to start, just try to get it level, so that might mean sideways across the trail. It'll start right up. Still annoying, though

I run 13/52 and top out at 60-65. I ride off-road and single track; this bike likes rpms. These bikes have a tip over kill switch that requires you to cycle the key if it kills itself. For back tire stability and traction, adjust the rear shock rebound and balance the tire. I would ride on the road with the sun behind me and watch my shadow as the rear tire would bounce off the ground; that's lost traction and control.

0:33 it's not half a jazz engine uban myth, the car engineering division collaborated for the design on this for two years which was a first for Honda, that and a joke made at the 2012 launch by lead developer about the car engine being cut in half
