@2:54 - Methinks that pic , might have been slightly staged .. When was the last time you saw that many checkouts open in a supermarket at the same time ? It didn't even look busy !

Absolutely loved Blackpool, many happy holidays when I was young, remember buying a skirt for my last year at school 1983 from Goldbergs in Hounds Hill , loved that shop, so exciting when you were a teenager, there was also another shop in there selling make up , perfume etc loved that too, and Lewis's , 😊😊

Such a pity, after including some great photos from Blackpool in the 1970s, that most of the photographs of buses and trams are from the 1980s and early 1990s.... Bolton 66 tram did not arrive in Blackpool until the 1980s...... the revised green and cream livery on the double deck open platform buses and single deckers did not appear until the 1980s and the HandyBus in Poulton-le-Fylde was not delivered until 1988. The double decker bus on the title page was not repainted into the green roof and stripe livery until the 1980s either. Other than the public transport, this is a superb video.

Happy memories of Blackpool back in the late 70’s early 80’s. Last time I went with my mum and dad would have been 84 and went to the tower circus. I was a stroppy teenager and the ringmaster told me to clap my hands and I told him to f*ck off. Let’s just say my dad wasn’t impressed and I struggled to sit down for an hour or two. 😅

Holidays in Blackpool in the 70s with parents and grandparents were brilliant. Go back now and then to see my grown up niece who has moved there. What has happened !!!!! The one time great holiday centre has lost is character and has nose dived down hill. Such a shame.

If you are skint you definitely cannot afford a holiday in Blackpool. Spending on food, drink and entertainment plus the accommodation and transport it would cost you way more than a week in Spain or Greece.

Lived and worked in Blackpool in the late 80's - went on a weekend jolly up with the lads , i ended up being offered a job and stayed 😂 i always remember how friendly the locals were , great decade and great times ! ❤👍

Very evocative. We used to go to that Egg & Bacon cafe at 0.55 when were were on a caravan holiday in Blackpool in 1968. The staff were very pleasant and the food was nice, but they later got done for poor hygiene! Oh dear!

I know I'm supposed to be supporting Blackpool's changes, but I'm not !!!! The 'changes' that have been made, have only been beneficial to the greedy developers, that have 'milked' the town for all it's worth. I love "BLACKPOOL" and its people. I hate these 'money-grabbing' self centred pigs that see 'profit' as a central goal, rather than the delightful area for all to enjoy.
@uk-martin49052 ай бұрын
The 'changes' are bland, characterless new buildings which do nothing for the town at all whilst fine buildings like the former main post office in Abingdon Street and the magnificent art deco former Red Lion / Leo's Wetherspoons pub on South Shore remain derelict.

Grew up in Blackpool through the 70’s, live on the south coast now, I go back to visit family, Blackpool town centre is a shadow of its former self, so many shops gone from there that I remember, all the independent businesses, now it seems to be cafes and national chain stores, nothing of interest

Nice nostalgia trip there. Makes me happy and sad at the same time. Happy memories of family holidays in Blackpool in the 1980's and sad that my Mum and Dad are no longer here. Was there recently and it's a pale imitation of the place it once was . Hopefully it can have a renaissance because it would be great to see it back to something like it's former glory.

Blackpool was more fun then than now, fond memories of the tower, swimming in the Derby baths, playing slot machines, eating candy floss, the Golden Mile, tramride to the old school Pleasure Beach to enjoy the Fun House in obligatory stockingfeet and went on all the other rides.

I did my work experience at the Grand Theatre, in Blackpool...must've been about 1983. I met Keith Harris and Bobby Crush, when I was allowed backstage, during their show.

Bond Street in the south of the town was a great little shopping area back then, Today it's mostly boarded up shops and gone very down hill. I still ♥️ Blackpool though.
