Novice question about arpeggiation. Can one partially arpeggiate? For example, if there are three notes in the chord, say C-G-E, can you play, say, C [GE] C [GE] [CG] E ? So I mean not playing one note at a time out of the chord, but still taking apart the chord somewhat. I guess one can do * anything * so maybe the question is, "Is there a special name for this?"
@newishwavemusicАй бұрын
Hi Daniel! Great question and great answer too: "one can do anything." I'm no scholar at all the names of things, but what you're proposing, in my view, would be arpeggiated one note of the chord, and then playing the other two as a *dyad.* This is another great way to stay within a given chord's sounds, but mix it up. You'll also find different pitches and effects if you create dyads with the 1-3 or 1-5 or 3-5. My fave is a 1-5, which I believe we can also call "open voicing." With your example of C [GE], C [GE], [CG] E, you'd be playing these notes from the chord: 1 [3,5], 1 [3,5], [15]3. I bring up this last bit because it's really helpful to start thinking of notes as numbers-all about the number of "steps" or notes they are apart. That becomes really helpful later since musical impacts are largely about relations between notes or chords, vs just about the notes or chords individually. :) Thanks for your question!!

I love this so much but please do me and any other absolute beginners a solid and throw into the description what your left hand is playing. I think your right is EE DD / BB CC and your left stars on an E chord. As a complete (obviously) beginner. I’d love to be able to learn more from your playing. One of the neat things about this prosody moment is that after the prosody moment happens, I realized that although the person was only waiting at the end, the person was waiting all along even while speaking/singing. And the pressure and tempo highlighted that particular kind of waiting, right? --when you're desperate for someone to show up, but don't want that desperate sensation to show. Even if the love interest is only a minute or two late... hope that makes sense! (Trying to think of other examples like that...

Hi Erin, i am a generation x italian lady like you (so we are both young😊), i can only tell you that the love i feel for Robert smith and the cure since 1982 pushed me to learn electric bass at the tender age of 50😊. Robert is a genious (this is undisputable) but his songs would not be unique without gallups distinguished bass inventions, which gave to the cure sounds their typical wonderfully gloomy atmosphere
