I love how Sora and Xehanort are parallels to each other - Xehanort forces himself into other people's hearts, while Sora willingly accepts others into his own heart.

fun fact: Hercules tells he regained his strenght by wanting to "protect the person he loves the most". this VERY EXACT term was repeated IMMIDIATELY after by Mickey in the Realm of Darkness!! Unfortunately, the english dub changed it to "the things that matter", although the original script was intended to be a direct callback to Riku's monologue to Ansem in the end of DDD. (remember that KH3 takes place right after the end of DDD). The "one person (Riku) loves the most" is Sora. Riku's most important person is Sora. That's a key point to Riku's character development, yet the english dub tries erasing it time and time again.

yea..... looking back on the games now. it's insane how many entries are just rehashes of KH1. Com is a rehash. Re:Coded is a rehash. that's already 3 different entries that is essentially KH1 on repeat.

From what i remember, you understood everything pretty well, or at least the important stuff. But i do want to clarify one thing that stumped you every time it was mentioned, since its important for the second union cross part, which is the explanation of the disney worlds being here, before and after the keyblade war. Ephemer tries to explain it to the player pretty fast, which leaves a confusing first impression on purpose. So lets break it down more simply. So, you may have noticed that this chi saga takes place who knows how many years in the past. At the start of it, there were no separated worlds floating in space! Everything was a huge landmass. You could walk to the places that would become the disney worlds in present kingdom hearts! There are two problems tho. First, the land to traverse to get to them is extremely long and it would take a lot of time, and secondly. We are in the ancient past. All the disney stories and worlds and kingdoms havent been build yet. The disney characters arent even born yet. So, to remedy both problems, the foretellers use their book of prophecies to create versions of the disney worlds that will exist in the future. Remember how data worlds works, or how winnie the pooh's book works? Information and data stored somewhere, like in pooh's book or jiminy's journal, can be turned into a real world and place you can explore, like a popup book (we see the popup book in the ddd intro and at the start of this video too). The same is happening here, the book of prophecies summons the worlds of the future for the keykids to explore, even if they dont exist like that yet. When the foretellers and their books were gone after the keyblade war, these hologram/summoned worlds couldnt be accessed anymore, but the MoM knew it was going to happen of course, so he set up, in preparation for this, data recreations of the disney worlds from the book so they could be accessed in data form instead. There is basically a computer in the MoM's tower that does this, and the keykids go in there when they go to disney worlds now. The MoM even added some disney worlds in it that weren't used and summoned by the foretellers before the war, so to avoid important information to be revealed about radiant garden, and to trap Maleficent, who timetravelled to the past after kh1 using the time travel rules we learned in ddd, in the data world of her world.

yeah I enjoyed this story quite a bit too and I can't believe it was only available on mobile! I totally missed the bus to try it out and would love to see it remade, maybe dropping all the online elements (though I'm clueless to how important they are to the game)

In KHX Luxu meets with Ava and tells her the identity of the traitor and the MoM's plans. Ava can't believe it and she attacks Luxu, which signals the start of the Keyblade War. Later in KHUX, there's a flashback about Ava going against the MoM's plans and giving Brain the copy of the Book of Prophecies instead of who the MoM told her to give it to. She purposely changed who gets the book because she wants to change the MoM's plans. Ava's the traitor because she went against the MoM's plans.

So, you asked about the time travel stuff, which i didnt particularly cover in the comments i left on the ddd video, because for semplicity's sake, knowing how it works doesnt really matter for the full story understanding besides "the bad guys are all back for the epic final kh3 showdown". That is the actual thing that matters, so nothing too hard to understand. But just to be thorough since you were curious and asked, the base time travel rule is that only a heart, so basically a ghost/soul can time travel, the body cant do it typically, and the heart can go to times when the heart already existed in the first place. So, say, if i were to time travel, i can only go as far as my birth or my death, i cant go before or after that if im not already there in some way in the natural time flow. More on thread

the music choices for the back cover credits are so bizarre. they play the organization XIII theme and roxas's theme for literally no reason! I assume whoever picked those songs was like "ooh these are mysterious and dramatic"

Daybreak town, the place the movie happens in, is not the town from fragmentary passage. That one was just cinderella's village near the castle. They look alike since are both meant to look like fairy tale medieval villages. You didn't really talk about it, but none of the foretellers were traitors or planning stuff for evil reasons. The MoM set everyone up to behave like they did on purpose. This is most evident with Aced, the big angry bear dude, who MoM legitimately told him his role was to actually stage a coup and become a leader, and the same goes woth everyone else or other rules he set up, like how the unions couldnt be allies, so they could end up fighting, or how each fotetellers wasnt given the knowledge of everyone else's roles. I dont know if you'll end up watching yhe actual game compilation of the events, since this movie is just a behind the scene clarification of what happened between the foretllers. The actual game has way more stuff both before this movie, during it and ESPECIALLY after it, where we get confirmations of many things youve wondered during the movie and more.

The worlds are dreamed by two people who are Sora and Riku but some of the worlds are not there's. it belongs to others like mickey considering is the past and future that's why you can see different versions of mickey. all those versions are mickey's past memories. so, if some worlds are locked mickey can't remember his past.

Original Mio and Noah now can meet with each other because in the end the two planets properly combined into one

Whoo! Almost caught up, dang. When I started KH3 and headed to the olympus coliseum, I was exasperated because it was in every. Single. Game. Let Hercules rest! But KH3 breathed new life into that world and it turned out to be one of my favorites in the game. I hope you enjoy it too!

Ehy you're back! Time for our scheduled analysis and explanation for stuff you may have not understood. Starting with the simple thing, in symphony of sorcery we learn that dearly beloved is actually a diegetic song in the story, and its the song sora and riku's hearts sing when in tune. After this world, they unlock the ability to connect their hearts to create the Gayblade, a combined keyblade we dont know much about but it is extremely filled with symbolism and details, like how when combined the separated keychains turn into a braided paopu fruit charm. Now for the more complex stuff, starting with the reveal that riku dove into Sora's dream/heart since the start of the game without even realizing out of sheer will to protect him and became a dream eater because of it. This happened at the start of the game right after the small prologue on destiny islands. Since then, sora and riku have been separated, Sora exploring the actual dreams of the sleeping worlds, while Riku has been visiting the dream world created by sora and his subconscious. This is where the distance part of the title comes from, as the directors said, where sora and Riku's hearts are able to close said distance and impact each other regardless. The game is basically written to be kinda confusing through it until you reach this reveal, and after you know thats whats going on everything starts to click much better into place, and all the little hints start to click with each other. For example, all the sora worlds stick much closer to the story of the movies, while Riku's are able to stray from the script because thats a recreation of the world from Sora's heart, which directly influenced the worlds and even the characters. This is what Joshua was actually deducing and understood when brainstorming with Riku at the start of this video. For example, the notre dame world ended pretty much like the movie, with sora feeling worried about quasimodo being left being. In Riku's version, the characters dont separate, and esmeralda reassures Riku with his situation. Another example, sora visited Pinocchio's sleeping world, but Riku instead visited monstro from kh1, since seeing pinocchio reminded sora of those events. Here, the kh1 events are repeating, but now Riku can do better and saves pinocchio from a conjured dream version of himself. This dream riku, which doesnt speak, later returns in the final world as it grew stronger and stronger and became the cool looking pink and black coat nightmare you fight as Riku, where the camera makes sure to show back to back the dream eater and nightmare sygils riku and this boss have on their back (the boss has also Riku's battle animations). So it becomes a really cool redemption for riku, to beat and destroy the literal nightmare created from Sora's fear from kh1 of Riku leaving him and turning into the darkness again (which is also what caused sora to fall asleep, with young xehanort mirroring kh1 riku holding his hand to him) After that, we have the very cool declarations of devotion Riku makes to sora before fighting ansem. After the Battle, the cum Guardian holds his hand over to Riku, which in turn shows him the keyblade which makes me vanish, which is important for later so keep it in mind. Riku then says "strength to protect what matters". That was Riku's motto to terra in BBS, but it's actually mistranslated. He is actually saying, "strength to protect what's precious". His motto just evolved to match his conviction, and it's going to happen again into its final form soon. Now for the trippy part. Basically, the bad guys have hijacked the exam so they could lead sora to their world with the good guys being none the wiser. It would have worked, if it wasnt for riku meddling and doing his unexplainable act (of love) at the start of the game, which young xehanort at the start also is confused by, and he reiterates how riku is immune to all their tricks now in this video too, its really cool.
