If they're selling the sweater at 500$ I wonder how much are they paying the knitters. I know a lot of people in the northern hemisphere exploit Knitters and other artisans in south america and Africa which take the job because they can't afford not to 😢

I’m 15 and I sew plushie clothing, pencil cases, plushies, and my own clothes. My mom is the one always telling me to sell my stuff! I would make a skirt and show her and it’s a constant stream of “you should sell that! You would make so much money!” So I did… over 50$ of materials I used for pencil cases, build a bear clothes, etc and I made 20 dollars. I now moderately make things like that when I’m bored and list them really cheap on Depop or Mercari without any hope of selling them. (I price them at around 3$ and hour and material costs because I’m still a beginner and my quality isnt perfect8

I noticed that the sewing g videos that just sew get hundreds of thousands of views if not millions but the ones where people are talking are very low.

I love to give handmade gifts. My problem is getting into the mindset I have to gift everyone equally and I cause myself a lot of stress that way. Trying to break that habit. This year one daughter in law will get a beautiful lace scarf because I knew as soon as I saw the yarn I wanted to do that for her. But I won’t have time to make something equal to that for my other daughter in law this year. I will buy her something nice instead.

Thank you for the details on how much you shortened your colourblock Jenna. I saw it on your IG and (wanting to make it that sort of length myself) I love that you talked through your process here.

I just discovered your channel- thank you for chatting about this topic. I really struggle with this as well, I fantasize about calling myself a fiber artist- but I just can’t seem to do it despite knitting, crocheting, quilting and embroidering for nearly 25 years. I often feel like because I don’t have a degree in art ( my degree is in social work) I would be a fraud to call myself an artist. I wonder if I am alone in that thinking and am super curious if people with an art degree would agree or disagree that you need a degree in art to be an “ artist”?

I love your list, Cassie. I’ve made the soho vest from a sandwashed silk pillow sham that has very fancy quilted pattern, (lots of curved lines), with a silk kimono lining. I’ve also made it with an upcycled baby blanket and an Indian cotton pillow sham. It is such a fun vest to make and makes a great gift.

So glad i found your vlog. I had such a great time at the swap. Just saw my own fabric on your video. What I picked up was double brushed poly. It's my fav shirt. Hope to do that again.

I came to your video because I couldn’t really understand some steps in sewing and thought I could get clarity. Turns out you were having the same issues! The instructions are a head scratcher. And some of the applications of the leftover pieces of fabric seem like unnecessary doodads. And extra time and complication to a pretty simple garment

I would love if you made this into a series! this is really helpful as a tool for learning how to design your own garments and what details to focus on. Hopefully you can get a yarn sponsorship in the future lol

Oh interesting idea! Did you mean a series where I try to remake RTW?
@amandaweymouth17482 ай бұрын
@@MakingCassie like a series where you make dupes! but with the focus still being on quality. I feel like a lot of the dupe-making on YT is about making things as cheap as possible so it was cool to see your process of searching for the correct fiber for you

Hello! I love the Tolsta Tank, and it looks so good on you. The yarn in your giveaway is so beautiful! I am not skilled enough to make the sweater, but I would love to make my daughter a shall. Thank you for such a lovely, generous giveaway 🙂. Edit: Actually, I would crochet a simple sweater, and it would be gorgeous ❤

Another interest is for those of us who are primarily crocheters and while maybe I can knit, I can't knit very well. I feel like it would take a lot of time learn to knit well and I don't feel like spending that time since I can already crochet most things, but this seems like a great option for those pieces that just look better knit.

Hi Cassie! I'm just getting back to my knitting (I found you years ago when I was into knitting back then hahaha). This giveaway is so amazing, I would love to make the Terracotta sweater (um, maybe 2 of them, and supplement with some of my own yarn hehe) with your giveaway yarn, as I think there might not be enough yarn for me to make the exact same pattern as you, due to sizing. I just moved countries so don't have my stash (and don't have my sewing gear, except a little hand sewing kit that I brought). Xx
