What makes Bolt Action heads and shoulders above 40K and other tabletop war games is pulling order dice randomly from a bag to determine who goes first, and its pin mechanic. Hint: If you don't have the $ or space to afford it's 28mm figures and vehicles, go 1/72 or 1/100 (Flames of War) scale. They require a bit less cash and smaller gaming table.

Tamiya has a decent selection of 1/48 scale models. Not nearly as much as 1/35, but it's a better scale for wargaming. Also, as 1/48 is a popular railroading scale, there is plenty of terrain available.

This Tamiya models remind me every time on my youth. A very long time ago...

Generally, only one in three men were issued the pionier backpack (or 2 to a five man fire team).... so there are enough backpacks for the whole platoon!

Hi I am part of the dev team for Marcher and wanted to let you know that we are working hard on updating and clarifying the core rules document, the faction pack, and the mission pack. I would recommend waiting for the release of these updates later this week for playtests as they greatly fix issues that have been reported within the game.

As a gamer, I loved the table set up and the super comfy sofa set-up! Expanded to 6x4 enough room for all the peripherals. Wasn't familiar with the negation of national rules for firefight. These rules would be great for a 1/35 scale intro to Japanese players. I'll be keeping it in mind moving forward.

Nice Firefight. Except for the last volley, the machine guns fired quite poorly - a strong tendency towards rolling a 1. Looking pretty good now with the painted troops and terrain. 👍

PS. I did some math. The 4+ can be explained if you assume that you always shoot at individual people. So “Small Team” always applies, hence 4+. Light cover has the same statistical effect as in the previous edition, hard cover actually helps a little less. The -1 for beeing pinned instead of -1 per pin is a massiv change or am I making a mistake in my thinking? 🤔
