Not only bad air quality (much worse in Chiang Mai !) but there's a serious mold problem too if the condos/ houses aren't built with mold in mind. Mold is the epidemic most people know zero about.....until their health fails..and , even then, people won't suspect it and doctors know almost nothing about it. I love Thailand though. It's easy to make a great air purifier to keep in. your condo and run it on high when. you're out, turn it to low when you're in.

But according to IQ air last year Bangkok was ranked 36th worst air pollution in the entire world and if you consider almost the entire top 30 were Chinese, Bangladeshi, Pakistani and Indian cities I've never heard of that's an impressive 🙄 showing by Bangkok. When I lived in Bangkok my doctor there told me breathing the air was equivalent to smoking 10-12 cigarettes a day according to one study and that over a lifetime it would on average knock off about 6 years of life expectancy assuming you lived there the entire time

Today: Dubai is ranked 22nd worst air quality in the world while BK is 94th, so that guy can’t be that smart or at the least misinformed. Of course, seasonalities and conditions shift but… health-wise, beach or by the water areas will always have better quality, but just health can’t factor into overall life requirements and needs.. been to both, and thought Phuket was too slow and boring vibes and didn’t think cost of living value was there compared to BK overall. Mental health / peace: that’s on the individual’s own state rather than location.

But I 100% agree. Living in Asia in general you’re gonna be exposed to way more pollutants than western countries. Not just from cars but from all kinds of other chemicals organic materials that emit toxic smells. Bangkok no matter how people dress it up is a Developing place. Thailand generally is an underdeveloped to developing country. Having a few fancy hotels and hospitals does not mean that the whole country is developed. I love Thailand but both foreigners and locals here are savagely aggressive to the environment which ultimately leads to poor health for its inhabitants. Pick your poison. In the west you have an abundance of what you want to the point where obesity and disease of excess is the biggest killers, here in Asia there is a distinct noticeable condition that comes from a lack. Lack of good sanitation, lack of food choices (without huge import costs) lack of air quality etc etc. Pick your poison.

@@suk_Qqa89 Sounds like someone doesn’t really know Thailand. I’ve lived hear for much of my adult life. I speak fluent Thai. I have been to every single province of Thailand. Trust me when I say what you have seen of Thailand being an “upper middle class country” is a very small part of Thailand. Josina Machel Hospital In Angola is a Beautiful hospital, it’s one of the best I’ve ever been to. The staff are all well educated and capable doctors. But you wouldn’t say Angola is an upper middle class country. Likewise you shouldn’t take Bumrungrad and think this is a realistic image of Thailand. I regularly see people using a buffalo and plough to farm their land (on commercial farms). This is almost non-existent in “upper middle class countries”. Doesn’t happen. I love Thailand with all my heart. But it is not an upper middle class country. It has pockets of oppressed middle class private facilities.

@@suk_Qqa89 The WTO can say what it likes. The WTO can look at bumrungrad and Icon Siam and say this is Thailand. I have traveled to every part of Thailand over the last 10 years. I have seen with my own eyes what is real Thailand. What the media says Thailand is and what Thailand actually is, is not the same. I think you and I differ on what “developed/developing means”. Having malls and education does not make something a developed country. The UAE is a developed country. 80% of the UAE or more is developed. With the exception of maybe Ajman and Sharjah which account for such a small part of the UAE as a whole. From Bangkok to Chiang mai there is nothing like Icon Siam or bumrungrad. From Bangkok to Phuket there is nothing like this. Small parts of Bangkok, Samui, Phuket, Chiang mai and Had Yai can be considered developing. Almost every other sq cm of Thailand is a 3rd world country. I’ve seen it with my own eyes. There’s no shame in being a 3rd world country. I love Thailand for what it is.
