Politely disagree with your opinion. Linux been shifting from a community based to a corporate based, and no one can deny that. Companies have their economic interest and sometimes political agendas. That destroys the main purpose of OpenSource.

I don't understand what is up with popular creators using arch or forks of arch linux, like SAMTIME and Linus both used arch and had issues, for some reason using debian, ubuntu, or ubuntu derivatives just never comes to mind. Its always "oh Arch linux is the hardest version of linux so that is the one I want to use" then "why is this so difficult it isn't intuitive at all, linux must suck". like nah duh genius you picked the hardest version of linux. I am a big fan of just using debian because it just works and gives you the freedom to do what you want. But I would rather someone use anything other than arch, the least reliable and least intuitive version of linux. just makes me upset, because moving to linux as my daily driver has been really easy, and I have had few issues, in fact the reason I like debian so much is because I tried to use Mint and I would always have issue and the DE looks ugly, then ubuntu's DE also looks ugly, so debian allows me to pick what DE I want the easiest and all of its functionality just works out of the box, in fact (which setting up nextcloud was harder) linking my debian laptop to my nextcloud server was so easy, even better than windows. Just makes me upset when you use the worst for usability distro then say all of linux sucks. Thats like going to a steak house then eating the turd out of the toilet and saying that the steak house sucks

I tough the hyprland community is about hyprland. Honestly I don't care which points of view have who. I care this bullshit affects the future of wayland. The wlroots repo is hosted in freedesktop. If the author of one of the 2 major wayland DE is banned, and he can't contribute, that affects the ecosystem. If corpos with a foot over open source projects could just fuck off and let devs work in peace, that would be fucking great. (gnome → free open desktop → red hat → IBM)

Preface- thank you for reading this if you do. I’m new to using linux but I’ve been curious about it for a while now and am really enjoying the journey. I think it’s sad for people to be so exclusionary in the community as it prevents progress and empowers the corporations that suppress. The people who are the loudest do not represent most and it gives the community a bad rep imo. I think that freedom and equality are cores of the concept of FOSS/Linux. We should embrace that. Doubling down on insane takes for someone who is in the public eye is always a bad move. Excluding people who want things to work and a stable is experience is so weird. Imposing your beliefs on others and stripping away their agency while also whining about your freedom is inherently amoral and contradictory. Individualist societies naturally cause division and suppress everyone. They prevent the true nature of humanity and the rise of the proletariat. The root cause of all evil is money and power. We continue to repeat history and we will until we are not so self obsessed.

The who/cares bit is hilarious because it seems like they really do care when they went out of their way to change it and then spent time mocking it. People who truly don't care would have done absolutely nothing. I'm from Brazil and this version of Windows from EU should be the standard in my opinion for every one: No Edge, no Bing, no Cortana, no crappy apps, no telemetry and all of that. The internet has in general made a lot of people deranged. Wasn't aware of any kind of "controversy" around Framework 16. It's my personal dream laptop. If I didn't already have a pretty good one, this would be an instant buy for me. By the way, one reason typing seems somewhat weak on the Framework 16 is apparently that the keyboard is a bit flimsy (the metal plate holding it being very thin and bending easily on pressure). It can very easily be remedied by putting one or two thermal pads under it, supporting the keyboard from below and eliminating any wobble.

What I see, and will result in the downfall of Linux (mainly exclusively on the desktop side) is Linux getting too political. Regardless of your belief, in order to maintain what Linux is as a whole, you MUST accept whatever viewpoint another person has into the community, no matter how reprehensible it is. Once the community starts ostracizing a group of people, Linux inherently becomes more closed. You cannot call yourself "Free" and open source and yet denying another individual freedom. Freedom is not selective, it isn't gray. it is 100% black and white and applies to 100% of everyone.

ironically the only time i install linux on a mac, imac to be exact is when apple deemed it to be obsolete to the point youtube wouldn't even work, the only problem was a wifi driver, but guy was using ethernet so that was not a problem, oh and imac still runs to these day, probably lol

Linus Tech Tips forum is just another censoring place with power hungry moderators. Few days ago I just made a status (not even a post but a profile status), where I said "mechanical keyboards are overrated and overhyped". Within minutes my status got deleted. Then I made another status "why my status got deleted?". It got deleted too within seconds. Then I made another status - "is power hungry moderator deleting my statuses?". And after that I got permanent ban from their moderator. Apparently you can't even express your own opinion about something even as a status and they claim they have a freedom of speech? It's ridiculious. They use their "freedom of speech" how they want and when they want for their own adventage. So, yeah, their forum is just another cancerous censoring place.

Calling out people for getting political is not at all the same thing as getting political. You mentioned about diversity hiring being political. I'll agree. But, if we agree those practices are political, Lunduke calling them out, is still him being anti politics in Linux. Even if he is being political, he doesn't ever call for people to be excluded from the community for their political beliefs. He's entitled to his options, as is everyone. But they shouldn't affect someone's ability to contribute to a project. If you write good code and are nice to people, who cares?

Hi Nicco, I have a suggestion on Overview mode. Is it possible to show the panel in overview? If it is, we can easily open apps by clicking icons without leaving overview mode.
