I have a 6.7 and live in the mountain west, towing 8000lbs regularly. Literally never have used full throttle on a hill. The new diesels have more power than I need or want and the emissions system is a pain. That’s why I’m buying 7.3s and doing good maintenance

I can’t tell you guys how pleased I am to have found your business and podcasts. I’m currently traveling from Puget Sound to East Idaho through the night and wanted to find some really solid technical information to learn more about my truck since I like to do what I can on it. I have a late 99 lariat white/tan I’ve owned since 07 with about 86k now has about 235k. I don’t ever see selling this truck. Knowing I have a forum of those who love the 7.3 like I do…a place to go that’s honest and knowledgeable for parts and info is unbelievably fortunate. I’ve been listening to you guys for 8 hours solid and I’m still riveted to the content. You guys are outstanding. Thanks for your time…it’s incredibly valuable and appreciated.

Is it getting lonely in Alaska? Thanks for the rock solid 7.3 advice. I'm now sound proofing my 2000 F-450 4x4 so I can talk to my wife when towing our F31r to Canada for the summer. Next year I start on the engine.

So the question I have would 400k be the minimum if properly maintained, or less for a 2002 7.3?
@markdavis888829 күн бұрын
As another reasonable option for up-pipe replacement is to open up the fender wells. Not a bad idea to change the exhaust manifold bolts and gaskets.

How do I get with you to help collecting all the parts needed for my 99 7.3. I am looking to upgrade the eng power asap. 400+ not to exceed 500HP.
Whatever u do , dont forget the transmission is a major week point and even worse when u crank up the power, i always put a really big transmission cooler off a 6.0 diesel .
@jeremyhowell63898 күн бұрын
Yep the 31 row 6.0 cooler works great mine dropped from 190 to 155.
@JasonGarber-n9y8 күн бұрын
@jeremyhowell6389 ayupp... and that's a hell of a temp drop especially when towing heavy loads , I really got burnt when I first started buying used diesel trucks in 2001 , I had no idea to check the trans fluid and drive it to run thru the gears and the Overdrive too, I had two trans fail on me so I did research and if that fluid was bright red an clean I was walking away .....

I loved this video, just doing a manual trans swap from a e4od that got to hot with the BD diesel exhaust brake on in first gear going down 18%. Having the zf5 s42 trans change any of these recommendations in your video?

Will a 160/30 be ok for stock obs. Is it even worth the 30% nozzle for my daily/tow usage?
@vr6prodigy4 ай бұрын
All that fucking time, money, and effort just to be less good than a stock 12v Cummins lol.
@juliestream83403 ай бұрын
The 6bt 12v made 160 Horsepower 400 ft-lb in its first model years and 215 horsepower 440 ft-pb in its later years. 7.3 psd made 215 horsepower and 425 ft-lb in its first model years then 275 horsepower and 550ft-lb in the later years. While the 12v is a low end monster and you can make tons of power out of it easy it is definitely not a powerhouse when stock and definitely not better than a 500hp 7.3
@vr6prodigy3 ай бұрын
@@juliestream8340 man you took "stock" literally 😂. I meant stock hard parts, not stock power. My point was a Cummins had the durability off rip to turn up and roll out, potatoes not so much. Lol

I can’t remember if I commented or not but a year ago I installed 205/80s with the KC300x 66/73, stock up pipes and raw, I no intercooler yet. I have a core but need to make endtanks. I did splurge on a built trans and a 2000 stall converter, which helps a lot getting the turbo spooling. For stock heads and internals it sure is a bruiser around town. Its fast enough for me. I really enjoy locking up half way through 2nd. That 3rd gear is bonkers.

You didn't mention anything in regards to the valve train. I'm really interested in hearing you talk about that and other mods like headstuds etc, when it comes to these borderline power builds. I'd also like to know your thoughts on the longevity of one of these motors turned up like in this video, but it being a motor that has 200k on it from the beginning.

What exhaust system is suitable for a f350 long chassis single cab from 1994.5?
@thereno11736 ай бұрын
This!!! Sorry I'm commenting same thing I'm so many videos lol but just bought a 2000 Excursion with the 7.3. 408k km. It's gonna be my forever vehicle so i wanna build more power but reliability is important. I'm gonna be saving for an engine rebuild in a couple years and wanna get 500hp. Gonna be my daily driver and weekend camping rig. Taking out back seats and sleeping inside lol anything i can start getting like a tuner/scanner that i can leave on stock for now but also use it to manage any codes? Air intake and exhaust that can be used now and later When it's built? Things like that. I'm not mechanically inclined and most likely be paying someone to build 99%. I can do bare minimum lol thank you for all these videos!!!
@thereno11736 ай бұрын
Also is there things I could do that'll make its current engines life easier? Oil coolers or intercooler. Sorry I'm really not that mechanically inclined. Just saying things I think I've heard or read somewhere. And I could easily be miss remembering or getting things mixed up lol
@thereno11736 ай бұрын
Also also, I want a moderate lift and either 37s or 40s if that info helps lol

I don't even know where to start. Are there things I could get that would help but would also still be usable in a couple years when I can afford an engine rebuild for more power and restart that life cycle? Like exhaust and air intake of course
