I can’t tell you guys how pleased I am to have found your business and podcasts. I’m currently traveling from Puget Sound to East Idaho through the night and wanted to find some really solid technical information to learn more about my truck since I like to do what I can on it. I have a late 99 lariat white/tan I’ve owned since 07 with about 86k now has about 235k. I don’t ever see selling this truck. Knowing I have a forum of those who love the 7.3 like I do…a place to go that’s honest and knowledgeable for parts and info is unbelievably fortunate. I’ve been listening to you guys for 8 hours solid and I’m still riveted to the content. You guys are outstanding. Thanks for your time…it’s incredibly valuable and appreciated.

I have never seen any 7.3 injectors being bad at 100,000 miles. Both my 7.3s at 351,000 and 240,000 run on original injectors. Admittedly the 351,000 truck would probably benefited from a set since it would smoke slightly at idle. However if was also a F550 with 4.88 gears and a ZF6 consistently dragging around 11,000-12,000lbs between the crane, welder, and tools. At 60mph the truck is turning around 2500rpms so the injectors over the life of the truck are obviously going to experience about 20% more cycles over a normal pick up. Not saying it’s impossible for 7.3 injectors to fail before 100,000 miles it’s just in the dozens of 7.3s in trucks and buses that I have worked on I have never seen it and in my experience they tend to last well into the 250,000+ range. As always thank you for taking the time to make these videos

02 CCLB 4wd dually 6sp 140,000. I bought this truck new. Always inside. Dedicated horse trailer rig. 4.11 rear gears and 235/85-16 stock tires. Gross weight of everything is 24,500 lbs. We run a lot of 65 and 80 mph interstate highways ( Wyoming and South Dakota). Stock injectors, 38r turbo, full 4" exhaust with heat wrapped pipes, 6637 intake, Bulldog tuner and Adrenaline HPOP with 4 line fuel lines. Question is would 180-30s be too big to go to ?

I know I would have to get different tuning. Would stock nozzles be better than 30% bigger nozzles if only trying to make 100 hp more.

I am running 8 ISSPRO Guages also. I have had semis for 40 years. So I am not a hotrodder. This truck has no air or oil leaks and runs perfect.

Will stock injectors handle up to 400hp/900tq? Can the stock turbo handle that power with upgrade wheel? Is there a recommended upgrade path video? I bought a 01’ with intake, 6pt ts switch, stage 1 transmission build and now trying to decide an order of upgrades.

I know you posted this 10 months ago but if you still haven’t decided, for a stock truck my upgrade path would be; Gauges (egt, tranny, boost)>chip>s&b intake>better flowing exhaust (but this is more for obs). Stage 1 injectors will easily get there, but see how you feel with this channel’s typical recommendation of a stock plus turbo or balanced assembly. That stage 1 tranny will last much longer since it is more stout. Main thing is keeping egts down so you can push more power, and you get there with good flow and a better turbo. If you want a race truck you can definitely build one, but if you want reliability then keep the injectors stock and stick with tuning.

@ great info. Thanks.. my exhaust recently broke, so now I’m probably going to do a hood stack from trublufab.

question how could a person tell what size injectors has been put onto there truck, if they have been changed, my truck came with paperwork saying that it was swapped to single shot injectors 100,000 something miles ago but the paperwork doesn't say anything about a part # or anything pther than its been swapped to single shot injectors, ot does have a ts 6 way im pretty sure the race mode is the 100-140+ tune and freeway wise if i keep my foot out of ot i manage 25-26mpg and it rolls coal of the wood be asshole trys to pass me i just have to give it a lil more of the skinny petal doing like 60mph and i can leave most ppl in the dust, it has upgraded up pipes, boost fooler, magnaflow tubro back exhaust and hpop oil lines, tje ts chip has stock, race, tow one, tow 2, high idle, and like a security position that doesn't allow any throttle to work at all and its a 6speed manual, what is your thoughts, still has stock intake/ filter housing, i want you opinion, if i really drive it how i like to it easily gets to 0-60 on a hurry 🤷🏽♂️ i would really like my high hp tow one tune to run like race mode does now and have my race mode be for some serious see ya later skippy shit if ya get what i mean, i do all sorts of things with the truck everything from off road and racing, to towing with it.
