Sir... is it okay to use this type of grease that sprays "Wurth HHS 2000" without removing the rivet inside.... And sir... before using this reel, should we send the lubricant inside.. more full reel Lubricant is also required for its existence...,? It is difficult to find the type of grease (penn grease) required for this in our country. So what is the suitable type of Grease Gage.....please tell me sir....im Sri Lanka...

*Great reel, **enjoyable.fishing** recommend very smooth and I love that you can change from left hand to right hand so easily. Gave it a 4 on durability because I haven’t had it long enough to rate it. Doing good so far.*

*Smooth drag. Amazing durability... Once taken apart it is easily cleaned **pickoy.com/penn-1259871-fishing-reel/** and works like new again. Dropped one in salt water for 30 minutes before finding it. Took it apart and cleaned/oiled/greased it. Still works like new.*

I prefer hand lines for couch fishing. I've tried the Penn senator shown in this video and a few other reels. Though they are good for the cost, most of what you can catch in your living room doesn't require a reel. but perhaps more important than this is what bait you choose when couch fishing. I like to use Velcro jiggers and custom wound duct tape balls. Some people swear by magnets but you miss out on about 90% of couch game. And I think 300 yards is way too much. I prefer to couch fish with about 5-6 feet of line because more than a few times I've gotten my line snagged on one of the zippers on the coushions and it's easier to just unspool the line and pull it by the lure. And this is why most people really shouldn't pretend they know about couch fishing because they do water fishing- it's TOTALLy DIFFERENT. People who fish in water should stick to water and let the experts show the world what couch fishing is all about.

If you go through the trouble of taking the reel apart to clean it, lube it and put fresh drag washers in it, you at least take it completely apart. You should take the rings off of the side plates, remove any rust, and put a film of grease on them. You should've removed the eccentric and the eccentric spring, clean them and grease them too. I didn't notice if you put a film of grease on the pinion yoke, or the eccentric jack, if you didn't, then you should. Did you remove the retaining ring on the bearing and remove the shield on both sides of each bearing, clean the bearing and then pack the bearings with grease, then reassemble them? Being that that reel is from the '70's or earlier, did you upgrade the drag stack to a 5 washer carbon fiber drag stack and ground flat stainless steel washers? Here is a tip, use Cals universal reel and drag grease on the drag stack for a smoother drag. Did you grease all of the screws? If not, do so. Did you apply a film of grease on the inside of the spools sides? Did you take the clicker apart and clean and grease the clicker spring and tongue and button? I believe that some year models didn't have a clicker. Did you remove the bearing retaining shield and remove the bearing from part # 40-114H? Did you then remove the retaining rings and shields from the bearing, clean it and pack both sides of the bearing with grease? Did you then reassemble the bearing and grease the threads on part 40-114H? In short, if its metal, grease it. Did you apply a film of grease on the main gear? A thin film of grease can be applied to the side plates. Did you apply a thin film of grease to the bridge? Did you remove the gesr sleeve from the brige post and grease it and reassemble it? If you did, then you should show the process in your tutorial. If you didn't, now you know a more complete process. *You may need to fabricate a tool from a wire coat hangar to remove the bearing retaining shield and bearingfrom part 40-114H. Take a 5" to 6" piece of the coat hangar, form a loop on one end (you may need to put a screw driver shaft through the loop and use the screw driver as a handle to pull on), then put a short 90° bend on the opposite end. File the inside flat (don't take too much metal off or you'll have to make another tool). Check to see if the side with the short nub can fit inside the hole and hook under the bearing retaining shield. If it does, then you can remove the bearing retaining shield. I'm just trying to help you tweek your maintainance. Tight lines.

I just picked up a pair of the Penn 30s, same as yours, on eBay, for $560 USD, so about the same price. I am on Vancouver Island, and they are going to be my halibut reels. Have not had a chance to use them, but I can tell they are going to work really well. Very well made, I have 100lb braid on both, I figure that should do the trick

Hey. Very helpful video. I’m struggling to get mine to free spool. Mines Pinyen is part of the spool. When I flip the leaver it pulls the spool down towards the main gear but it always stays on the gear. I’m not sure how it’s supposed to work. Any advise would be much appreciated.
