In my opinion I love braid a lot more. 1. because you can fit a lot more line on it. 2. It doesn't stretch as much and you can feel that the shark is still on.

You can cast this reel, it may take a little practice but its possible. However, if you are doing shark fishing from the beach I'd consider getting a kayak or some other way in order for you to get you bait out further where the sharks are located.

Its a good reel. But if you are looking to upgrade get a penn 9/0
