I was led here because one day my seedling died (may it RIP) and I thought to myself oh my I need to buy some more avocados to grow another tree.. The very next day I manifested myself a sprouted avocado! It had 4 stems and it’s growing so beautifully til this day. Currently watching all your videos so I can have as much knowledge for my avocados to thrive! Thank you for your videos ❤

Hi. I am from Pretoria, South Africa. Winter (June) 2024 I have put my 2 avo pips in water and kept it on my stoep which gets quite humid, protected from harsh weather. 2 months in they started rooting. Another 2 months and they started growing stems. 1 pip made 2 stems. When about 30cm I pruned them to enhance growing branches and it went well (still in water). Now it's January 2025 and I have potted them with a little bit of pecan nut shells at the bottom and filled with outdoor potting soil in the pot. Both pips in 1 pot for now as the pot is about 30cm high with 20cm diameter (all I have for now). However, the pip with 2 stems started growing yet another stem in December 2024 at the bottom, will prune it when the time is ready. I will see the progress and when repotting in a year try to separate the pip with 3 stems carefully, hopefully it works. My triplets I am calling Lulu, Boo (late bloomer) and Lexy. The other one is called Chucky. I am a bit worried about him, while it was still in water I noticed its side roots getting smaller, hopefully the potting will now enhance the roots growing again. The stems which were pruned already have beautiful leaves and have quite a few leaves already. The late bloomer (Boo) Is now approximately 6cm high with a couple of leaves already, slam bam in the middle of Lulu and Lexy. Not sure when the outer part of the 2 pips is going to fall off though. I have now moved them out from the stoep so that they can get more natural sunlight and rain water, but they are still protected from strong winds. Coming winter I will move them back on the stoep to protect them from extreme cold weather. Any advice will be welcomed, I would like to have nice avo's in a few years. Another question - I would like to forever keep them in pots as we are renting our house and will probably move from time to time for financial reasons. Will they ever bring forth avo's while in pots? Can I from time to time add rooibos tealeaves in the soil for nutrition? I am so excited about these babies, I am not really a green fingers person, tried mango's before, went well for 6 months until it started dying 😢.

Do I have to wait til there are stems or can I just start cutting from the top? My plant has a long stem and just now the top leaves are coming. Please advise 🙏🏽

If someone lived in zone 4 where it below 0*f in the winter and up to 105*f in the summer. Can that someone grow an avocado in the house in the cold months and then bring it outside in the summer to help it to thrive? What grade and what do you teach as a teacher in your school?

Thanks for sharing the video. I really enjoy them. I have an avocado tree that I started from a seed and watched your video on how to do it and it's been 3 years now and it's doing great. It's about 5 ft tall and I keep it inside for extremely cold weather otherwise it stays outside. I had never grown an avocado tree before and I might say it's really been a very exciting time.

In your previous video you mentioned peat moss being important for its acidity. With peat being replaced with coco coir is this still an important factor?

Thank you for such amazing advice. This is my first time actually getting an 🥑 avocado to start, and it's doing amazing until the browning on the sides and the edges of the leaves, and I want to thank you for all that advice It was amazing I did not know any of that. I live in Oregon. It's winter, and yeah, I was wondering, should I mist it to make up for the humidity that it's not getting in the house? 🤔 Once again, I want thank you 😊 for taking the time to teach all of us!! I love learning about plants 🪴 heck learning in general.

I did this with 4 avocado plants and they all just grew super tall and skinny again from the new trunk that grew out... can't get them to stay short! Maybe not enough light in my apartment so they are reaching? Any help appreciated

tree looks great. I’m still struggling as a gardener. Seems my tree grows, gets about 14” tall with beautiful leaves, then all of a sudden the leaves dry and fall off. I don’t know if it’s lack of sunlight as the season changes, or air is drier, or them temp falls too much at night. They are all indoors & I’m in Colorado. Maybe I need to set a series of appts & alarms to make sure it’s not me/my care lapsing?

...Have you considered ,tying the Lower Beanch( Training it to Grow up Nexr ro rhe Main stem) add some Calcium to the mix so it will harden over the weeks and continue on its own to grow Up straight...I have a Double Stem Growth ,I'm doing the same to it as I suggest .,I exprct they'll appear as twins in due time...

I haven't tried that before, but it sounds like a very interesting approach. I'll definitely keep it in mind! Now is certainly the time to do it before it lignifies 🤔

Hey Scott, what does it mean when top new foliage come out lighter tone and then start to curl up?😮
@cindyinpcola29 күн бұрын
Good question! I have a 3 year old tree that has a reddish hue to the new leaves that eventually turn green but they are curling too. My thoughts were it was because of the very hot weather. Not sure though and it lives outside.
@ScottGrowsanAvocadoTree29 күн бұрын
The new growth is often a different colour (though in avocados it tends to lead red), but if it’s yellowish, it’s most likely a nutrition problem - not enough nitrogen. Make sure it’s getting fertilised to support the new growth. As for the curling, it may have something to do with nutrition but more likely due to inconsistent watering.
@cindyinpcola28 күн бұрын
@@ScottGrowsanAvocadoTree It seems we are both right Scott. High temperatures can cause the curling in turn resulting in moisture loss. We had temperatures this summer of over 100 degrees F with heat index of 120 I always look forward to your new videos!😀

Can you propagate the cutting? I let one avocado tree go in the yard this summer and now it’s just one inv stalk, even tho I did prune it really early on. So I want to prune it again, but it’s SO HARD to cut off lovely leaves
