Classic example of England being excellent on the counter attack. But come up against a technically better team, who can play a low block defence and they struggle.

And the Germans made the final. What a waste. Injuries again though didn’t have gerrard or Neville and Owen was carrying a knock. And the manager was always a poor appointment in my opinion . I think Fowler said at half time we needed winston Churchill and we got Ian Duncan smith

Legal goal. Maradona scored with his upper left leg. It's his body and he has the right to decide what his extremities are.

That didn’t deserve a red card. Glenn Hoddle didn’t help the situation either after his post game interview. One of the worst example of leadership I’ve seen.

One of the many incidents of that rigged World Cup. From the head of Fifa to the hotel staff where the delegation stayed everyone worked for one purpose...England to win the world cup. The drivers of the delegations would always be late, their training grounds did not have goalposts, the referees both English and WGermans were horrible, the journalists were not allowed to the stadiums etc..

Germany were humiliated. It was the pretext for an axe-swinging and a rebuild by Germany - and they did exactly that, with great success. I don't think that kind of utter destruction has ever truly occurred with England - which probably explains why we've bumped along with mediocrity for so long.

If the English stole the Falklands from us unjustly, it is fair that Argentina won and epically destroyed the most well-known sport of all time, the sport that they themselves invented.

If trophies were voided based on "clear and obvious illegality, retrospectively established," then this would immediately do away with the mentality that it's just the "referee" you have to deceive. If trophies were retrospectively nullified, then players would then risk "infamy" as their just deserts and a whole generation of youngsters would be dissuaded from believing that positive outcomes can EVER arise from cheating. In the absence of this, Maradona's goal stands as a symbolic counter-claim, which will always invite citation as to why "sometimes" cheats can and do.......prosper!! And, so long as this trophy remains "none-voided".......it always WILL stand as the "cheats gambit."

In my opinion this was one of the luckiest World Cup goals in history. This was NOT an intentional kick at goal, but it was supposed to be a cross, and LUCKILY the ball just got carried further and went into the English goal at the very top right corner of the goal. This goal was lucky, a fluke and I would NEVER ever believe that it was an actual kick at goal......it was just a cross. But .....Ronaldinho took full credit for this goal ..... undeservedly. He just got super lucky.
