love this. can't believe I just found this channel today. bought my XJ in february in Port Saint Lucie. Previous owner passed, he was from NJ and his son brought the car down to Florida. Being from NJ, my baby's got a bit of rust and a lot of work to be done. Its been a damn rollercoaster working on this thing, physically, emotionally, mentally, and financially draining haha. I also started with close to no tools and experience, only a degree from KZbin university. Glad to be here, thanks for creating the content!

going through the same struggles in Florida with my XJ haha. Also in the same boat, never having done this kind of stuff and without any help or guidance. We will get it done if we keep going. <3

What type of straps did you use for the Jerry cans from keeping them from moving?
@trailspinTV
@trailspinTV 21 күн бұрын
Just regular rubber straps in an "X" over each can hooked to the molly panels on the tire gate.

My 2018 rubi has this bumper/tire carrier on it when purchased in 2022. Any tips on getting the latch to stop coming unlatched on washboard roads other than keeping a rubber bungie cord wrapped to hold it closed? Nothing worse than seeing your spare tire and jerry cans out your passenger side mirror!

How have the clayton control arms held up and how do you like them?
@trailspinTV
@trailspinTV 6 ай бұрын
I ran into some issues with them. Basically, the large jam nuts on the lower rear arms did not stay tight, and because I didn’t check them periodically, the threads stripped out from vibrations and the arms eventually came apart. I have since replaced them and it’s been great. I will say that this is not a lift for a daily driver, as the springs are meant to support a lot of weight. It’s a very stiff ride if you’re not carrying a lot of payload.

Thanks for your reply. I just wanted a maintenance free adjustable control arm. I'm pairing it with a JKS 3.5in lift

I just got done doing mine. I am old and disabled and everything HURTS! Just to make things a little more complicated, Mine also has a transfer Case skid plate attached from the center of the crossmember, over to the driver's side frame rail (unibody) behind the crossmrmber. It's never easy! I broke off one bolt and had too drill and tap. THE STRUGGLE IS REAL !!! 🛠️

if anybody ever pulls out Infront of you that winch wholly shit. You factored in a little overkill, that rig must only weigh 1/3 of the winches capacity without a block.

Water is used to keep the engine cool, antifreeze is so the water doesn't freeze. If you are in HOT climate use more water, if you are in a COLD climate use more antifreeze

Old school worm gear clamps are for old school copper radiators. Radiators with plastic fittings need the constant tension clamps. The plastic fittings expand with heat and can crack or leak if the clamps can't expand and contract with them. They are easy to work with with the cable tool. For best results, replace them when you remove them.

I've rode atv's and my sxs several times and love it, except for how narrow the trail system is. Two way traffic makes for dangerous riding. Last time that we rode there, we actually had a black bear cross a trail in front of us. I lived in Florida for 49 years and it was the first time that I saw a bear in Florida.

Unfortunately, KZbin is a video format media. Answering questions in comments is not what people came here for. Might want to rethink your plan.

I had a problem getting the short bolts on on the left side where the carrier locks. The one bolt towards the rear was easy, but the one closer to the rear frame cross member will not fit due to the structure of the interior of the bumper. Any hints?

I would say that the 6-person left 2 guys and Rosco with just enough room, so you may wanna consider their 8 person. The vestibules are my favorite part other than being able to stand up inside. Plenty of room to store gear! - Brandon

I bought a skoolie like 4 years ago and never got further than tearing out the interior, and fixing the entire brake system (lines, rear calipers and pads, proportioning valve), entire fuel system (lines, tank, filter, pump, and filler neck), 3 batteries, dealing with a 600lb wheel chair lift, a sagging rear leaf spring, and a bad electronic choke. What a doll that thing has been. lol - Brandon

This is such an inspirational video for the everyman. It seems somber at the surface. But you guys got to go on an adventure that 99% of people that want to never get to. It's sobering that real life happens, but better than any KZbin channel I've ever seen, you've shown it's possible for anyone. You definitely don't need a hanger on dads ranch to do it. You just need to do it when it seems possible and accept life will happen after. A wise man once said YOLO and in this case he was right.
