Six years old and there is no update for the new brushes and this tutorial starts with the brushes already open no explanation of where to get the brushes, I click in 2023 version and nothing happens. This really sucks

Do you have any tutorials where your computer did not crash? it would be helpful to see the very first brush strokes applied.

Painter needs to update it's reference window. Something like Rebelle has. Drag and drop functionality, colour pick from reference, multiple reference images from an organizer per project, etc. Even in 2023 version it is still very primitive compare to other tools. I like to use Pureref sometimes for ref images, but still find the lack of ability to pick colour from desktop applications frustrating.

my wacom settings didn't offer any of the options shown. the pen calibration didn't do anything on, off, no matter what settings I tried, nothing changed. most of the brushes didn't change at all, always uniform thickness uniform opacity. I'm interested in getting this program IF it actually works, but I can't find a single tutorial that actually answers any of my questions.

hi - I want to do the automated painting, and just do comes up, I don't want to spend much time on it. Before it would start any of the types for like a second, but cut out. I just checked it, and some of them work, but the pencil sketch does the same thing, just a 1/2 second.

Where is the concept art brush that you are using? Sure not in Painter Essentials 8! So frustrating watching tutorials with brushes that are obviously not included in the software!!

I use AI applications to create art for my own personal use. AI doesn't replace an artist, writer, or song writer even if it is trained on actual art, published works, or music. AI is a machine that can understand and respond in ordinary language without the need to learn to be a software engineer, but it isn't fully developed yet. I have found myself doing a fair amount of programming in trying to install and use some of the tools, and just like anything else you must gain the skill to use the tools, or you will find your results will be less than satisfactory. Even then AI is extremely limited in what it can achieve at this point. Thank you for your explanation of how to use Corel Painter to blend areas where the AI fails to render an image that's visually appealing. I took one of my generated images and turned it into a nice soft portrait thanks to your tutorial.

On Mac Mini M2 Ventura I can't get any of my Painter 2023 brushes to lay paint or erase. I can fill with gradients.. I've repeatedly tried to deselect, checked layer mode, brush opacity. Suggestions? Affinity Photo v2.3 works perfectly, so it's not the computer.

I was hoping for a method faster than the regular options you showed, since they are all pretty subpar. Brackets doesnt work for small brushed like pencils, since it is linear and not proportional (either jumps from tiny to too big in one click, or takes forEVER to go from large to small depending on setting), the ctrl + alt is decent but it is VERY laggy since it loads every single size you pass instead of waiting until you release to load that size, and the brush size menu takes up a huge amount of the workspace since it won't let you make it 1 item thick. Also the ctrl + alt is really dumb since every time you press it you restart at size 0, so minor tweaks are impossible -- you have to retry every time. Clip studio paint starts the circle at the size you're at, you go in or out for smaller/larger, not to mention is is BLAZING fast compared to this $400 piece of garbage. The only thing redeeming this app for me right now is the superior painting/blending, but if you are doing line art and a less painterly style, there is absolutely no reason to pick this over CSP. Especially not for the price.

I've only recently come across this issue: is it possible to resize a selection shape without affecting the active layer? I've been trying to airbrush light rays piercing through dark clouds. But I want to resize the 'mask' and move them around to paint more variety in the rays. However, after my initial painting any attempt to move or resize the 'mask' ends up moving the work within.

I was using Pureref reference tool. Then I noticed the HSV values are not working like ClipStudio, Krita and Sketchbook. Not sure why. Please advise. 😅
