These are exactly the kinds of comps I used to do in the '70s and '80s, but I was also heavily into TV commercial storyboards. Later, I transitioned to finished illos for labels and packaging using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Painter, but nothing as deep and complex as Mr. Bast. I also did some Marvel Trading card art, and comic book work, mostly in Painter. Today, I am drawing mostly B&W line art for Indie comic book interiors; for this, I work in Clip Studio Paint. That app is also a good, general-purpose illustration tool.

The people watching this are most probably beginners to digital art, and to Corel Painter. They don't need to know what the offset value is for a magazine, or the pixels per inch for inkjet printing. Irrelevant information to a beginner and only adds to the confusion of trying to learn how to use Corel Painter.

Painter for Beginners = NOT AT ALL! Absolutely Useless with ear-piercing scratchy audio. Coral should be embarrassed.

So why isn’t the new “fluid paint” option on all brushes by default? is there a way to turn it on for all brushes without having to do it to each one?

Six years old and there is no update for the new brushes and this tutorial starts with the brushes already open no explanation of where to get the brushes, I click in 2023 version and nothing happens. This really sucks

Do you have any tutorials where your computer did not crash? it would be helpful to see the very first brush strokes applied.

Painter needs to update it's reference window. Something like Rebelle has. Drag and drop functionality, colour pick from reference, multiple reference images from an organizer per project, etc. Even in 2023 version it is still very primitive compare to other tools. I like to use Pureref sometimes for ref images, but still find the lack of ability to pick colour from desktop applications frustrating.

my wacom settings didn't offer any of the options shown. the pen calibration didn't do anything on, off, no matter what settings I tried, nothing changed. most of the brushes didn't change at all, always uniform thickness uniform opacity. I'm interested in getting this program IF it actually works, but I can't find a single tutorial that actually answers any of my questions.

hi - I want to do the automated painting, and just do comes up, I don't want to spend much time on it. Before it would start any of the types for like a second, but cut out. I just checked it, and some of them work, but the pencil sketch does the same thing, just a 1/2 second.
