I think we need to give our brothers and sisters room to be mistaken. People who are mistaken about the science in the Bible are not necessarily on their way to hell. Are we submitted completely to His will, not our own? Have we given our lives to him and asked His forgiveness? If so, then the rest is a growing process. Let's be patient with each other.

So in the Genesis story of creation, we must take the Bible literally, because reasons (in other words, you have no independent proof), but in Matthew and Luke, discussing the genealogy of Jesus between Rahab and David we must NOT take the Bible literally, because reasons (in other words, it is clearly missing multiple generations and you have no idea why). It's just not an honest argument.

Why present depictions of God? That is wrong. Even Moses observed a burning bush and not His image. It goes again the 2nd Commandment (Exodus 20:4). 9

The reference people use to claim the 7,000 year earth is based on 2 Peter 3:8 "8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day." It's entirely possible that this was not an exact empirical declaration, but instead was figurative. The point is to indicate that God's accounting of time is not like ours, and to God something short is something incredibly long to us. Also, the Hebrew word for day is "yom" and the Greek word is "hemai" and it can mean the literal day or it can be used figuratively to define an era, space of time, period. (Don't believe me you can look it up) I personally lean towards an old earth and the creation story referencing different eras and periods, equating those to days, but I don't find it a significant deal if others believe that the earth is younger. Genesis 1:14-19 strongly suggests that the moon, sun and other stars were created at that point which was day 4. We base our 24 hour day on the sun rising and setting. The reason it takes 24 hours is b/c the earth is rotating at a certain speed and this rotation speed takes 24 hours to complete a single rotation. If the Sun wasn't created until day 4 how can you confidently confirm that the day was a 24 hour period when the sun wasn't even present, and we base our concept of day on the sun? The question is what was the original source of the light before the creation of the sun, moon, and stars? Clearly God says that light was created during day 1, but unfortunately the scripture never clarifies the source of this light whether it be the physical creation of energy itself or some other entity. The references to "evening and morning" could serve as metaphor representing the start and ending of a creation phase. This makes sense if the "Days" are referring to periods.

He allows it so we know and experience it. We want our free will, right? We want to know everything, right? How can people make a choice without choices? Pain, sorrow, disease, war, etc. all give humans the opportunity to do good, to heal, to console, to end war. How can we know of joy if there is no sorrow? How can we know of feeling good if their is no poor health? How can we know of pleasure if there is no pain? How can we know of love if there is no hate? How can we know of the joy of light if there is no darkness. How can we know of good if there is no evil? We live in a world that has opposites of everything. Would even one human choose to be a robot instead of being a sentient human with free will? With free will comes the knowledge of and possibility of good or evil. God wants a battle tested people who overcame all that life has to offer, and who still choose him. Otherwise, the war in heaven would just happen all over again. We have to know about good and evil, sorrow and joy, pain and pleasure.

I have no issues with 6 days of creation, and I agree I believe the Hebrew to be conveying that in six literal days God created and ordered this world. The difference would be that I believe the Hebrew is teaching us how God ordered abs brought life into the world, not necessarily created everything out of nothing on day 1. A lot of this comes down to translating Genesis 1:1 as, when God began to create, rather than in the beginning. This is a translation that is supported by many Hebrew scholars.

Many thanks Ken, I was aware of this decades ago and I’m very grateful to you for broadcasting this information again. Do people understand that the Hebrew day is divided into 4 equal parts of 6 hours equaling 12 hours of Darkness and 12 hours of Daylight ergo - Evening and Morning, the 1st day. Wrong, IT IS NOT the preachers job to tell you what the scriptures mean. IT IS THE HOLY SPIRIT’s JOB! 1 John 2:27 “But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie-just as it has taught you, abide in him.”

Does it really matter on the length of a “day” since nothing was there? We can understand what we read (the Hebrew word for Day) as a regular day or as a period of time God used whereby he gave the world a sequence of light followed by darkness…a cycle to live by. But we who believe the Bible know that GOD was the Designer and Creator…no other!!!

That the Bible is the word of God is a claim, not a fact. A claim that cannot be substantiated. For his statement to be true, Mr. Ham would have to claim that he himself is infallible. Is he? If he isn't, why should I take his claim that the Bible is "the word of God" at face value? HE HIMSELF COULD BE MISTAKEN. Mr. Ham has very strong opinions, as do many of the people on this thread, but opinions are not facts, no matter how sincerely held.

There are important points made in this video that merit additional study in the Word of God. In addition to prayer and asking God to teach us and give us wisdom, it is important to have a good approach so that we make correct interpretations and understand it correctly. First, a meaning or application of a passage must be consistent with the context of the passage. This means taking what is said about a quoted passage and reading the full chapter it is in to check and see if it fits the context. Depending on the passage, some of the surrounding chapters may also need to be read to get the full context. Second, I approach the Bible as the inerrant Word of God and therefore any interpretation of a passage in the Bible must not contradict any other passage in the Bible. I've heard that the best commentary on the Bible is the Bible itself. This is a powerful and sound approach and if a doctrine or understanding is not in complete harmony with all passages in the Bible, then it cannot be correct. Third, for complex, or major topics, such as how salvation works, it helps to read the different views of Bible scholars. It's an easy way to find the relevant Bible passages and you can consider how well each of their views fit with the above two methods. When it comes to teachings and understanding the Bible, we should not take anyone's word for it, but see it directly in the Bible for ourselves with application of the above methods. The Berean's set a good example in Acts 17:11, "These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.". Do you all agree? Is there anything you'd like to add or clarify?

If God exists, it doesn't matter what you think of him. He exists a part from you and a part from me. If you really want suffering to end it will cost you your life for eternity. Surfing disappears if humans disappear. Who's left to complain about the suffering of men, with all their evils, if man doesn't exist? Sin and suffering are the result of men and their actions. Get on your knees and thank God for His great patience, grace, and mercy for allowing you to still exist. Keep this in mind...there are no innocent people on planet earth; therefore, no innocent person, other than Jesus, has ever been died.
