You know If I ever got a spider trapped inside my System Sensor SR or P2R I would be taking it apart and getting it out. Its not too hard to take apart a spectralert advance, but those Simplex strobes can be a real handful. I know that because it took me almost an hour just to mount my truealert.

On the last day of school 4 years ago. They were testing the fire alarm and it went off about 2 times. Actually, 1 year ago some thing was burning and they told them to pull the fire alarm and the fire was REAL! Jacksonville fire rescue department along with Duval County public schools police came. Bayview elementary had that simplex truealert like this one 4:40

TrueAlerts have a special place in my heart because they were in my elementary school. Sticks with me. That said, my favorite brand is Notifier for panels. Not sure I have a specific model.

Nice video! I’m not surprised that the commanders didn’t sync, considering this is a late 80s panel. Must’ve been a fairly late install though since there were PS-DAs lol. Also, the reason why it took a while to activate is because the 5207 has a long activation delay, although I’m not sure if it does that as a verification delay or if the panel is just super slow.

I did a video on it, but took it down after some unfortunate business practices from the company that sent them to me, which I will not name. In my current house, I have a First Alert BRK 7010B. We had ionization based detectors in the house, but I wanted photo electric for the one near the kitchen due to false alarms.

Heartland Elementary School in Overland Park Kansas used to have these and I hated these at heartland! Thankfully now they're a modern Simplex TrueAlert I think! Also Simplex TrueAlerts are always my favorite fire alarm!

SOME single use detectors have a rate-of-rise function too, so you can sometimes test them by heating the side and not popping them. The way defined by NFPA, though, is to activate and replace two of them if I remember correctly. Then the rest you simply short out to ensure they 'talk' back to the panel.. It's not ideal.

This gives me flashbacks to Elementary School where we had Simplex Mechanical horns on Continuous however my Elementary School had Simplex 2903 Light Plates with 2901 - 9838 horns except for the Portable section which had Simplex 4903 Electronic Horns I hope to get a video of my Elementary Schools Fire Alarm System one of these days idk when though

I had a SmartSync horn strobe, and the 4905-9938 sync module, but was providing FWR power instead of Filtered. Most devices can handle FWR, but simplex devices are not built to. Simplex panels provide Filtered power, and so do some other power supplies, but this panel did not. 0:09 Longtime ago we had Fire Drill's at my old schools in Sherman, Texas. At Wakefield Elementary School Washington Elementary School Dillingham Elementary School Piner Middle School and Sherman High School which is use to be but now Sherman Middle School they both had one of these older Wheelock AS's too and they also set on continuous horns too which is loud on Hi volumes when I got my ear protectors on anyway to safe my ear drums.
