Years ago, I bought 300 gallons (in quarts) of Galsurit that came off a derailed train. 1000+ cans.....around $100K retail, for the low price of $300. It was about $100 a can back then. Everything except the dog got painted.

I remember when my shop got switched to 100 line. I really like the clears. The paint dries super fast. The only issue I had starting out with it was the coverage for whites. I am now at a ppg envirobase shop. And can tell you the whites cover a lot better with the envirobase and the color matching is a lot better. Reading the graphs on the computer took sometime to get used to for sure.

Im curious to see the comparison with the 90 line. I sprayed 90 around 2008 or so. Unfortunately, it was introduced in the worst possible conditions for waterbase. 90s and high humidity. We were using the Venturi driers on stands. The compressors had great driers and traps but what happened was the aluminum housing on the driers was creating condensation with the high velocity air. It would then spit onto the panel. It wasn't fun to fix. After we went back to the 55 line, then I was sent to training at the BASF facility in Ohio. All the did was retrofit their existing downdraft with ceiling fans under the plenum. I sprayed a coat with the booth running, step out, and turn on the ceiling fans. I could watch the base flash before my eyes. Huge difference! I would try it again in the proper climate controlled environment.

Used 90 line around 2007 in South Australia and the high humidity and hot weather was a real problem with blending silver. That's when E3 slow was introduced along with using a viscosity cup. We ironed out all these waterborne dilemmas, these younger guys are sitting on our shoulders.

@@aurelionatoli2330 Our BASF rep brought in that slow reducer and it made things worse. We found out later that product was designed for Southwest dry climate with very low humidity. For every two jobs that turned out fine ,there was one that had issues. Bottom line, we should have been through training before even trying it. The instructor at the BASF facility told me that almost every day I was there. Live and learn I guess.

Like your reasoning and willingness to master your craft. I am just a hobbyist restorer but I believe you will appreciate the 1.5 coat systems, jobs turn out so much cleaner and faster. I use to use Glasurit prior to Spies Hecker/Standox coming out with their 1.5 coat system back in 2012, it was such a game changer. Glad to see Glasurit has finally caught up, look forward to giving them a try again. Hopefully their camera is just as good when matching.

Back in the day the Glasurit 21 Line Single Stage and the 54 Line Base Coat Clear Coat were the bomb. Real good product in the eighties and nineties. The product was great for European Car color match. By the way the Parrots 🦜 name is Rudy. Good luck Bro.

The Glasurit 100 line is a premium product. It is applied in the same manner as PPG Envirobase. Personally I found that you have to work a little more with the color matching but other than that you will be fine.

Just make sure u bake it for 10mins when your done baseing. So it completely dry cause when base not dry it will solvent pop on you when u clear n bake . My honestly opinion really don’t like it same as cromax and spies
