I LOVE Italan food! And I LOVED Naples! I had been on a trip with friends up in Tuscany...then I took 4 days, 3 nights on my own on the Amalfi coast. Fabulous!

My superpower is, that I am never worried about looking, silly or foolish, which is why I can speak with no issues on the camera. I'm a dual citizen, looking to retire in GR in a year or so - I lived in Athens a while back for four years, so I am looking around for a place to land. Thank you for clarifying where you were for me - I am looking at some of the less touristy areas and islands as a possibility.

Yes, of course you are right...but I have lived here 38 years, and this year is uncharacteristically warm for this time of the year. I am enjoying it...but it portends a huge change in local climates.

@@TrekkingwithDebandMike Yes, it really is beautiful. In the summertime we can often find the Olympic rowing team, practicing and working out just below where you saw the cafés. There is also a sailing school for children so we see those little boats gliding across the water.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I think that mine was an easier transition, because it was more gradual. I can imagine that your profession offered you a huge sense of fullfillment, and that is something you really missed.

A dutch oven is a cast iron pot and lid. Le Cruet makes the best...mine is NOT le cruet!

Having come here as a middle-aged woman, I have perhaps not assimilated quite as much as you have, having gone to Italy at 19.
