In my opinion, it was intentional. I believe Elon Musk was subtly addressing the American people, implying that they’re in for significant challenges due to the president they elected and the difficulties they’ll face during his term. When he said, "my heart goes to you," it felt like a mix of genuine sympathy and passive-aggressiveness. I think Musk enjoys being indirect, almost playful, with his commentary-taking subtle jabs at Donald Trump while still expressing a kind of bemused concern. It’s like he’s saying, “I see the trouble ahead for you Americans, and I’m sorry, but also... I told you so.” The phrase “my heart goes to you” also seemed to evoke a deeper connection, possibly even referencing darker historical undertones, like the Nazi salute. Who knows? 🥰 Much love from Costa Rica! 🇨🇷

The context is implying "from the bottom of my heart, thank you" I think you are looking too far into something. It is the same as when a religious person says, "God bless you" and athiests get offended, not realising has nothing to do with forcing their beliefs, and is just their way of giving well wishes.

Dave is still a politician because he attacks person instead of focus on mistakes. Everybody makes mistake but I like how English for Everyone reacts to their mistake: they removed their videos instead of running around the bush trying to say it's ok to make mistake. PHD whatever can't correct your mistake(s).

No, you guys are just wrong, you don't need to say something is "incorrect " to actually mean something sounds more natural or "connected". like native speakers saying : stop saying "very" to me that is borderline ridiculous, you are being the petty ones, sorry, I don't agree with that.
@kimwold5 күн бұрын
Even if she was talking about connected speech, she shouldnt say it is "not correct" but rather that that's how you'd say it to sound more natural, it isn't -incorrect-

I actually love English for everyone, i don't find them petty in their approach, literally they've been the only ones that have taught me those details in pronunciation in a practical way for free. Those are the things you learn with a private coach and they do it for free. I've seen other channels that have tried to explain pronunciation but are way too technical and I never really understood, until now I havent seen a video of theirs that wasn't practical or just meant to hurt other channels. I did feel bad though for Marina because there was a time they'd only make videos about her, but that's about it, other than that I love their content and is still helping me

According to the official statistics, 13% of Americans can hardly speak any English, so being a "native" does not really mean much. I assume the audience would like to know how well Dave passed his AP in the English Language and in the English Literature.

Correcting is not binary 'black and white'. There are different shades of gray, styles, contexts, usage, prosody, register, tone, etc. Of course, these details are not normally dealt with below the C2 level but they too are quite important.

I haven’t seen anyone in the comments mention that, for quite some time, academia has been discussing the concept of Englishes-the diverse forms of English spoken outside the USA and the UK. These varieties differ in grammar, vocabulary, and accent. Today, English has more non-native speakers than native ones, which makes the notion of "correctness" far more nuanced. Notably, the English language lacks a central governing body to determine what is correct or incorrect; most dictionaries are based on linguistic corpora derived from authentic sources such as conversations, interviews, articles, and books. Moreover, having watched several of Dave and Liz’s videos, I find their approach genuinely insightful. I also believe that for English learners, having someone point out clear and obvious mistakes-as Dave and Liz do-is incredibly useful. Although I now hold an MA in English, I vividly remember struggling to discern which aspects of the language were worth focusing on and which could be overlooked. This was especially challenging when engaging with native speakers, who often exhibit a certain nonchalance in their speech. It's understandable-they can't possibly know every variation or nuance in how something might be expressed. Additionally, I think channels that critique or reference other language-learning channels play an important role in holding them accountable. Over the past decade, the landscape of online English teaching and learning has become increasingly chaotic-almost Sodom and Gomorrah, so to speak. I truly wish more of these channels would stick strictly to facts, provide credible sources, and acknowledge that certain usages might be correct in specific dialects, such as British or Australian English. This level of accuracy and responsibility would greatly benefit learners navigating the complexity of the language. That being said, I do believe Dave and Liz sometimes reach an extreme when they criticize a very British channel for being "too British." While it's important to address the variety of Englishes, it’s equally crucial to recognize that what they may deem as overly British could simply reflect one of the legitimate forms of the language.
