I can’t really comment much on these as only ever seen the original and the remake none of the sequels in either strand. Just neither were my cup of tea really I think I saw the first too late to really get anything from it and it just wasn’t my thing and saw the remake after seeing other films that did a similar story better. I was unsure about watching the latest in the run and may give it a whirl but I just have never gotten into them. I do appreciate why they have been popular and I’m sure this will be an interesting ranking for the fans.

Not ex Mormon, but ex Christian and I really appreciated the film's perspective. Hugh Grant's performance was excellent and I love how some of his Rom Com facial expressions play differently in this film!

Ash Vs Evil Dead, will always be #1 in my Necronomicon.
The part where they talk about corn is never a conversation I had as a missionary. Guys harassing us as we walked around the mission. Accurate.

The truth is this movie falls apart at a certain point and becomes ridiculous. Why I was glad I didn’t bother to see it in the theaters. And Grant is good and so are the other two girls.. yeah you Grant is pretty much solid in all his rules. Did you see his performance in - the gentleman?

The first Evil Dead has always been my favourite and I’ve never got on with Army Of Darkness and I’ve always wanted too. It’s a crazy franchise for sure

It was a philosophical thriller.

The remake is amazing. They gave what fans what they want with familiarities and adding some twists and turns. Thats what makes a good remake. A remake is to have the some of the same beats whilst adding new things which it did. If you like the friday the 13th remake then its hypocritical not to like this. It goes harder with the gore and is more scary than the orginal and has an unsettling atmosphere. Yes they make dumb mistakes but so does every other person in any horror. Alot better than Rise and on par woth the orginal in my opinion.

Agree to disagree. I think the remake is decent, not great. Being the big Friday fan I am, I’d watch the 2009 movie 100x before this one. The Friday movie has several very fun characters, a great Jason and kills that are a lot more fun. This movie has maybe one character who is decent. They also don’t really add anything new to the franchise. So we’re in the same cabin, they find a book and nothing else new happens? But not surprising for Fede Alvarez, alien Romulus was a lot of fun but half the movie was just recycled dialogue, scenes and ideas.
@abrimfulofasha2 сағат бұрын
@MadBloodMatt they did add new things like the twist that mia wasn't dead. And its a remake ofcourse it has to be same location, its not a continuation. The whole point of a remake is to go by the same beats but sprinkle in new bits. Like the female lead being the survivor, which was a twist in itself. The sacrifice the brother made. I get alien romulus as that was meant to be a sequel and shouldnt really go by the same beats and progress the story. But people forget this is a remake. Fans love this remake for the obvious reason that it didn't need to try anything new but still sprinkled in new scenarios. A remake is meant to please the fans of the original by making it familiar and sprinkling in new atmosphere, cinematography, and aesthetics. But of course, to add new elements which they did like I said before. You like the Friday and chainsaw remakes which pretty much did the same thing. I'm sorry you can't like this movie, but its very hypocritical of you. I don't care for excuses. I only like it went someone has a valid point. I think you're biased on the Friday remake. The characters were bland and annoying to me. The characters in the original evil dead weren't exactly smart or great to remember other than ash. Your argument is redundant. I guess opinions will be opinions, but there's a massive truth to what I said.

Gotta disagree with your opinion on 2013 Evil Dead. To me that movie was awesome. And I love all Evil Dead movies, but Fede's version is easily top 2 for me.

Not the best horror movie of the year?? As opposed to what, Smile 2 & Terrifier 3..? It most certainly is. I haven’t loved a horror movie this year until I saw Heretic.

It does have some damn good gore. Especially at the end. I bet if I saw it in theaters that would’ve made the experience more memorable.

Both actresses in this movie are former members of the Mormon church, and brought that to the role.

Such praise for such a mid film that really fell apart as it went on. I was raised Mormon and found this badly researched and unconvincing. Like, one male elder just goes everywhere by himself, no companion.
@MadBloodMatt12 сағат бұрын
I’m pretty sure that was supposed to be a young mission president not a young missionary on his own. He had grey hair and was played by 46 year old Topher Grace. Just out of curiosity, which part about the Mormon church in particular was badly researched?
@Hi-jw7oq3 сағат бұрын

Little bit of a personal question, but are you still a person of faith? As in Christian or any other religion or are you more or less atheist/agnostic? I recently converted to Catholicism and I am also studying currently theology so I find it interesting to research other religions and faiths. Mormonism has always had a bad rep in my head much like the Jehovahs Witness as they call themselves “Christian” but in reality aren’t really Christian. I’m not saying that their faith is a bad thing as everyone is entitled to there own world view, but I just found their structure very misleading to those who don’t know a whole lot about what their church teaches. I have many Mormon friends who are genuinely really nice people, but I am seeing a lot more young people turn away from the faith due to the internet which is upsetting a lot of the church elders and devout Mormons in my area. To me, those super devout Mormons come off as condescending and often times their “niceness” just seems like another “work” to earn them heaven points. The whole tithing 10% of your income and being required to do so many of these trivial acts left a bad taste in my mouth. But anyways, I think it would be awesome if you were still a Christian whether that be Protestant, Orthodox, or Catholic! But either way I’m happy you are in a better spot!

I think you're being a bit judgemental of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am glad you believe in Jesus because we center our lives around Him we read the bible just like you
